I did it to fight the power, to stop paying the constantly increasing taxes and the grossly inflated price of a simple product. I didn't care about my health much at the time, a little more about my teeth and gums than my lungs or the rest of my body, I just wanted to hurt the corporate and government profits, and to join in on and promote a phenomenon that could help bring their tirade to an end, someday. Since then I've become more health conscious so that is an added motive for continuing.

Needed to quit the analogs as it had been too long. Hopefully i will be able to see some grandkids some day. Definitely not cheaper for me as I use to roll my own, a carton of analogs cost me 13 bucks. But it was worth it as this has been the best alternative compared to gum and patches. I havent had the urge for an analog yet. Good luck!:2cool:

I've been a recreational smoker for about 8 years - usually enjoying a pipe or cigar once every couple weeks when I'm hanging out with my buddies. I started vaping because I loved the idea of being able to smoke indoors at poker nights and cold winter days. I also love how affordable of a hobby it is compared to many.

My motives seem to mirror many others...
- I have 2 kiddos, for whom I would move the Earth and stars for, if the opportunity presented itself.
- I want to be around to watch them walk down the aisle. (Both graduation and Weddings)
- My mother was diagnosed with Emphysema recently and we've had quite a few family members in the past who were put on oxygen.
- My family's health.
- Cost. (Though I am still in that "Sample as much ejuice flavors, you never know which you'll like most" phase.)
- Not being limited by 'No Smoking" signs.

This list could go on and on, but those are the primary reasons.

We switched to natural organic tobacco several years ago and felt immensely better, after the withdrawal from chemicals. However, still hated that smelling like an ashtray thing. Blah. Not to mention, the exorbitant cost of those natural chemical free cigarettes!!! 6.20 a pack and we were both PAD smokers. YIKES.

Recently, my eldest child informed me that her boyfriend didn't want their (if they ever have any) kids around us if we were to continue smoking in our home (we could be around the kids, just not smoking...). Anyway, HUGE impetus. I want grandbabies!!!

I enjoyed smoking and was very skeptical I could quit even by vaping. Tax refund = opportunity to try a quality PV. We got the 650mah ego twist with the Kanger mt3 and never looked back.

I have been lurking here for the 17 days I have been vaping (tho I am thoroughly familiar with forums) and just decided to join in order to participate. Thank you for this great place to learn!!!

i have a laundry list of reason, first off being i like to smoke at work and sometimes i'm unable to. Secondly my grandfather passed of lung issues and while not related to smoking it's still a bit of a wake up call. Lastly it's immensely cheaper to vape. Especially up here in canada where smokes are $10 plus a pack. I still haven't found the perfect setup to kick analogs entirely but i'm a PAD smoker that's down to 1/2 a pack a day and getting less every time i narrow down the right products for me a little more.

a couple of my friends at work started vaping, which picqued my interest (and vaping was more appealing to me than the traditional NRTs). I've never actually tried quitting smoking before this; turns out vaping was the way to go for me. Since I started, I haven't looked back at analogs (and to answer OP's request: I was getting tired of the nasty chemicals in analogs and spending all of that money, but wasn't really motivated to quit until I saw that vaping had similar sensations to smoking).

I started vaping because it was the only thing that worked for me to stop smoking. I wanted to not smoke because smoking basically killed my grandmother (even though when she died she had been quit for 10 years--but she smoked for 60 years). The problem was I liked smoking and hated quitting smoking. I also get real benefits from the nicotine (I have ADD and it helps me concentrate and has fewer side effects and problems than the prescription drugs) so it was either traditional American smokeless tobacco which I hated because of the spitting. Or snus which is a great product but very expensive (the American Snuses all suck and the Swedish kind which are great are too expensive--a can of General Snus is about twice a pack of Luckies where I am).

So I couldn't really go the route that my great uncle did (he recently died at 99 years old--conclusive proof it is the smoke that does the damage and not the tobacco, to me).

And the NRTs never worked for me and considering that Chantix made my father crazy (well crazier than normal) while he was on it--though he did manage to quit (so far) with it--I wasn't interested. I have a bad history with prescription drugs due to my ADD.

I was aware of e-cigs existing, but I thought they were a con job like so many other NRTs are con jobs. But I ran into Njoy Kings and after talking to a lady who was buying two packs of those I decided to give them a try. They were the solution I was looking for--nicotine, hand-mouth action, feels like smoking, and not actually inhaling smoke. The problem with the Njoy King is of course they don't last a long time so I knew I had to do home work. I ended up on the ECF, got an an ego and some decent juices and haven't looked back.
