And on the subject of batteries..... ;)

There's been a lot of chatter about some of the black ICR 16340s being out of spec, and a tad too long to fit well in the B Box. (some won't fit at all) I know that Randy at RTDvapor would prolly be most accommodating, and resend the correct size if you got an out of spec one. At this point in time, I would prolly make a note on my order that the batteries are specifically for the Billet Box (so that he might caliper them before sending).

Also, it's good to know that using the red AWs are absolutely fine. They fit beautifully. Shorter run time, yes, but they are no problem at all. :)

yeah i ordered mine form rtd and have to pry them out, even left a note for them to make sure they were right...they said they were but not so much.my batts are gettin all janky from havin to pry them out.i bought some red aw's but havent tried them yet.gonna checkem to see how they fit now though.

:) There are a bunch of similar ones out there, Debs - and they REALLY make a difference in the speed & ease-of-use categories. I just happen to be partial to Bret's work, but his are far from being the only ones.

These are just some of the many he's done for the BB. He uses strictly titanium for the cores, and they're always smooth as silk.

those are gorgeous!

.my batts are gettin all janky from havin to pry them out.
dunno if you'd be interested or not, but i would have to pry mine out if I hadn't done tape. I wrap clear packing tape around the battery, leaving enough extra where the tape meets to make a tab. Grab the tab, pull out the battery. Under the tab, I put a piece of paper that says when I got them, which batt of which set they are.

@Mommay again with a tape tip.....Much long time ago, someone on here suggested putting a strip of packing tape on the door of the boro when you get it so that it hangs off the edge enough to make a folded over tab (so it's not sticky) so you can grab the tab to pull the door off rather than trying to get enough traction with your thumb. Make it slide off quite easily. I couldn't slide them without that. At least not at first, might could now, but I still keep the tape tab on there.

Happy Sunday everyone!

How cool are those! Pretty, too :)

DP, is there a source for bottles and pink plastic tips, or are they from DD's shop? I'm finally using the delrin exclusively in one BB, but the syringe method of filling doesn't work too well if the juice bottle isn't pretty full.

The tips can be had cheaply from Amazon, and bottles & caps from Big Daddy Vapor. The latter may be a bit more pricey than some other places, but I like their options, and they're easy to find.

Tips - CHEAP!!!!!

Thank you!

:offtopic:, How'd you get to be a turquoise and orange guy, rather than NYG or NYJ? Good luck in tonight's game!

Best bottle ever. We bought a supply years ago and they fill everything. You can also buy little shut off black tips so you can travel with them and they don't leak.:thumbs::thumbs:

I think it might be a good idea at this point to use the reds. I'm really unconvinced that getting them "all janky" from prying them out is a very good idea. Wrappers may rip, and my fear is a problem with compressing/damaging the contact points when using batts that are too large for the space.

The reds fit VERY well, and work flawlessly. One just need be willing to give up that extra 200 mAh.

Cutoff? Like you're sleeping on the couch tonite? (BATT POWER!)

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, beckster, but they react as all IMRs do..... they slowly and softly fade into oblivion as the charge diminishes. You'll get a few weak(er) vapes before the end of the charge vs. the sudden STOP of the ICRs.

That sudden stop is a safety feature. It's part of the circuit that provides the protection. In RC for example, we call that circuit designed to stop the discharge of a lithium battery before it damages itself "lvc". (Low voltage cutoff)

Yeah... the wife sometimes isn't so good at "feeling" things. Maybe over Christmas break I can have her get a feel for it and judge from there.

You're welcome, Rick. Have you contacted RTD about the black ones?

Right, and safety features are certainly a good thing. The red AWs are also (sort of) in the classification of "safe" tho. Safer battery chemistry, to be more exact. I offered them up as an alternative to those having probs with the black batts. DD off BB and I spoke of them, and he is in agreement that the reds are fine to use if need be.

And beck? Have yourself a MERRY little Xmas. ;) :D

I'm more worried about answering a call from half way across the country. ..

Yes dear?

My BB isn't working

What's wrong?

It's not making vapor

Did you check (long list back and forth)

Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes ouch!

What was that?

The rag slipped and I burnt myself.

 alright let it cool and check the batts on the doohickey (anybody remember them?)

It says 1.6V, I put them on the charger

She's brilliant. But some things. ..

And a very merry Christmas bbers

Yep - As usual "You" are correct, as I mentioned last month I had purchased a few of these "out of spec" batteries from RTDVapor and Randy was very willing to accommodate "Me" if I sent them back and they checked out to be the wrong size - he would replaced them and then refund the shipping cost too . . . That's why I also mentioned to "rudedog" to let him know that "Uncle" sent him . . . AND - From what I heard back from Randy a couple of days later, "rudedog" did let him know and Randy was going to make sure to send him the correct size . . .

yeah i ordered mine form rtd and have to pry them out, even left a note for them to make sure they were right...they said they were but not so much.my batts are gettin all janky from havin to pry them out.i bought some red aw's but havent tried them yet.gonna checkem to see how they fit now though.

Very sorry to read that the batteries were still a problem . . . :(
However, I truly feel that Randy will make good on them if "You" let him know . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)
(BTW: I still have to get back to him myself too , just has a few more pressing things that I have to do before I can . . .)

AND - On that note, I'm going to bring forward the discussion I had with "DD" concerning this specific issue that I posted at the end of last month - and highlight the more important parts:

the purpose of "My" call to "DD" . . . It was about the size differences and difficulty inserting the AW icr 123 16340 Protected that I had recently gotten. Long story short . . . As a result, "DD" did find out - using the calipers & batteries he had on hand - that there there are slight size difference in these batteries now being produced and they will be tighter to fit into the BIllet Box. That's when we got into the discussion about using the "Red" AW batteries (as I noted in "My" previous post). "DD" reminded "Me" of his suggestion to just "Smack" the Billet Box on the PALM of "Your" hand (not the table top - as I did . . . ) , but it still was not working for "Me". AND - I didn't want to continue use a letter opener to pri the batteries out of the Billet Box either (Yes - I did . . . ) . . . I then asked if using a "ribbon" as they do in some other products to remove batteries would be alright - I even suggested the trash bag ties. That's when he tried something he had there to check if that would work. Well it did . . . So as a result, "Doug Dino" mentioned that he is now going to be thinking about this and what can hopefully be done as a work around for people in the future . . .

Maybe it will be similar to "Debadoo's" Suggestion of using something like "Packing Tape" . . .
(BTW: Personally, I might use Colored Duck tape different colors for different "Married Batteries" . . . Just a thought . . . ;) )

I think it might be a good idea at this point to use the reds. I'm really unconvinced that getting them "all janky" from prying them out is a very good idea. Wrappers may rip, and my fear is a problem with compressing/damaging the contact points when using batts that are too large for the space.

Lots of activity here! Sorry I'm so short on time, but for those still interested in scoring an Uno, it looks like Bret posted that some might still be available.

If you're in his FB group, you already know this. But if not, I'd use either this form, or send him a message ("Bret Fels" on FB, or "Ohman" here on ECF). Judging from the responding posts, I believe there are still some available.

Ohman Bmods Billet Box UNO

I MUST boogie, but I shall return.

About two more days and we slide into our "slow" season. Can't come soon enough to suit ME.

This looks pretty intriguing. Thanks, DP.

For those who build, is it difficult to build in such a teeny space? (Is it teeny?). I'm used to a build deck the size of a KFL+V2 or a Manta V2. Would I be able to mange this? Thank you for any input!

Great idea! Didn't have any, but wasn't sure if it would be too thick or not.

Doesn't look any more difficult than building a RDA TBH.

Similar in construction to rebuilding factory heads like the old protank heads, but looks straight forward instead of having to manipulate around the silicone grommet and eliminating shorts, etc.

Just build a coil like for a regular deck, make sure the legs go where they need to, snip/snap where necessary and vape.

Probably best to join the Facebook group. There's some build pics there.

Bonus points... pretty sure they're 28 Guage coils.
