Wish more would follow her example. My son's dad
would make sure he had some nice things for birthday and Christmas, but I always got creative about it. We did scavenger hunts, hid things in various places and left him clues to find em. This was also helpful for things like the pogo stick that was hard to wrap to where he wouldn't know what it was immediately. lol We've wrapped things up and put the wrong names on them on purpose....put things like dried beans in the boxes, so when they shake em they're totally confused. Wrapped small things in 5 or 6 increasingly larger boxes, each of them gift wrapped etc. There are tons of ways to make it so much fun they don't pay as much attn to how much they received. They could be happy with a coloring book if you make getting to it enough fun.
I liked this so much that I've saved it for ideas for next year. Thanks, Deb.

Additional thoughts: Even though MFS has a limit of 2 boxes, that limit is for each type. So you can order 2 boxes of type A, 2 of type B, two of type C, etc. and still get the discount on all of them. You don't waste postage, and can pick up a few boxes at a great price.

Yeah, I placed my order and before I knew it I was at $111... 2 of this, 2 of that...

What are you all planning for the New Year? Any traditions or activities you do to prepare? We normally have our small family get together. This year will try and make tamales and enchiladas for dinner.
yummyyyyy I usually do black eye peas and collards and cornbread, either that or german sauerkraut and pork, but this year I dunno. My son will be workin til way after midnight but he's off NY day, so depends on if he wants me to fix sumpthin. My DIL will be going to her aunt's in Austin for the night.

Debadoodle, I have almost the same conundrum, either blackeyed peas, red beans and rice or pork and sauerkraut. :?:

I could also use some German sauerkraut and pork. Then add some fried potatoes with onions and homemade bread. Brings good memories back when I was a little kid.

Glad to hear you got electricity again. In this day and age that's one necessity that is a must.
