My Billet Box opens and closes with ease now. I was changing batteries and it wouldn't open even banging it on the stand. There was some Vaseline sitting there and I thought I haven't tried that yet. I put just the tinniest bit on and then wiped it off leaving a little film on it and it works almost too easy.

Excellent. Another thing to keep in that kitchen draw for stuck things including the billet boxes is dry lube. I am not sure what you would call it in the states but I use this for lots of things, like curtain rails, draw rails.

Goss Dri Lube Lubricant - 27g - Supercheap Auto Australia

It does not attract dust or particles and is almost too good. Use sparingly

And you've got something against olive oil? Don't be an oliveoilist, J5. ;)

Thankfully, after my initial experience (1st week of Billet Box use, documented somewhere on ECF), I know for a fact that I'll never need to be concerned with doing a (cough, um, nervous laughter) DRI LUBE (but it IS good information to know, XX!).

My raw one, when in use, gets cleaned weekly and without exception. The anodized ones, I can kind of "feel" when they began losing their "snap", and I clean them. A five minute date with 99 & oil, and they're good for months.

Often I don't make it that long though, because the Bridges are known to dump out a tank if you let them get too low. This inevitably comes into play and forces the issue of cleaning, most of the time. Occasionally I'll get lazy and just wipe it down.

Amazingly resilient little buggers, these BB's. Life With DP is not an easy one* for a mod (nor anything for that matter), yet they just keep on trucking - with a smile.

* Hold your thoughts/comments, KD & XX, thank ya's very much! Additional confirmation not required.

Oooooooo a perfect opening. Sadly I promised not to laugh publically for at least another week. :p
