I have not "graduated" to more complicated builds. Still using basic micro coil...26ga @ .4 ohms on most builds. About the time i was reading up on other builds along came temp control and building nickel coils (which I'm getting good at) took up more time. I've seen prebuilt claptons, but that goes against my reason for building my own coils.
Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple and so much better and cheaper to make your own. Plus I think a lot of those pre-made ones use inferior wire.

What are the specs on the Clapton's you are using with the B2. I just got in to trying Claptons and have some success, maybe I will give them a try. Also what wattage and device do you run them at? I see you too are in VA.

Yeah man northern VA. I'm using 26 or 28 gauge Nichrome 80 for the core (sorry don't remember which, probably 26 though). And 36 gauge Kanthal A1 for the outer wraps. 5 wraps around 2.4 mm screwdriver gets around 0.25-0.28 ohms after dry burning. I use it from 40-45 watts on a Sigelei 150w.

You could probably fit bigger ones in there but I find these to be the perfect size for this rta. Also, I've found 36 gauge for the outer for claptons to be the perfect compromise between flavor and vapor. As in smaller gauge gives you more flavor less clouds and bigger gauge gives you more clouds but less flavor. Also, 36 gauge is difficult enough for someone just beginning claptons anyway IMO.

Here's an old pic of my build before I finished pinching them.

I just ripped out the tiger wire build I had in my second billow and put a twisted 28g Kanthal A1 5 wrap 2.4mm ID in it. I had beautiful new claptons built first but I snapped a lead with these stupid screws and didn't feel like making more claptons lol. Anyway the twisted build came out to about 0.24 ohms, wicked it the same way that's been working now by trimming fluffing and stuffing with the chimney on. I'm running it on a mech now beautifully and 50 watts on my sigelei no problem. I love these tanks. Great flavor with the twisted BTW and a lot less popping and spitting than my clapton build.

I just got a couple of Esquare DNA 40 so I am limited on power. I think I will give the Claptons a try. The smallest Kanthal I have is 32ga A1. Maybe will go with 28ga with the 32ga wrap with 2.5 ID 5 wrap.

Your build looks real good, looks like it could even take another wrap if needed. I to hate the wire cutter screws I am trying to source some grub screws and give them a try.

Regarding wicking, I have tried just about everything. Finally found a pretty good setup. I use about a 1/4" strip of KGD cotton with mesh stripped. I cut to about the with of deck, then I fluff and cut on a diagonal (short side on outside of deck). Juice it up and place the short side in well (just a little) then pack the long side in on deck. No dry hits at all plenty of bubbles but I never go above 30-32 watts.

Love the B2 I have 6 now and have retired all Lemos and lemo drops. Still play with Lemo 2's for backup.

Thanks for help with Claptons!!

If you have a DNA 40, have you tired nickel builds on it?

Tried but not impressed, seems better for dripping than tanks MHO, I don't drip much only. I use a couple of Velocity RDA for testing my new flavors, I am a DIYer. ADV go to my B2 collection.

Have you guys experimented with different coil placement heights and noticed a difference in flavor or airflow? I usually place mine maybe just 2 mm above the air holes but haven't tried higher.

I get the best flavor placed just off from touching/shorting on the air inlets.

Starting to forget about all the regret I had for this tank before. Vaping beautifully now with a 2mm id.
Why did you have regret before? My first couple weeks with it were rocky. Sometimes I'd get a really good vape and others I would get dry hits and leaking. Now I think I've got it figured out. Both of them I have running smoothly and wonderfully every day. The wicking is the key.

On a side note, I've found a really quiet build. In another thread on this forum I posted about finding the quietest build. The twisted 28g KA1 I have in one of my billows is a reasonably quiet smooth vape. When I first used it I thought it wasn't working because I was so used to the loud popping and spitting of my other billow with the claptons in it.

Well basically I only had it a week and then received my two velocity rda's. As I got vaping them I wanted more and more to just hide the v2 and forget about it because of how well the velocity performed and the ease. But a good tank has it's niche, and I needed one.

Oh yeah man. I wouldn't really compare a tank to an rda. They each have their time like you said. I love my El Cabron and Twisted Messes rdas with fused claptons in them. When I drip, I drip. Overall with all the atomizers I have, my top two drippers still give me the best vape experience. But when I don't want to drip, when I'm driving now for instance, the Billow V2 provides a very enjoyable alternative. I actually didn't bring a dripper with me to work for the first time in months today. I just brought my two billows.

Still waiting for my tanks to arrive (via slow boat from China) and forgot to order replacement glass tubes. However, I have a bunch of plastic tubes of different diameters that I can cut if I happen to break one. I know that the glass tube for the billow v2 is 23mm in outer diameter and 30mm in height. Could someone measure the inner diameter so I can select the appropriate plastic tubing? Thanks in advance.

Why? Because I'm nowhere close to North America. FT? Nope, GearBest ($29) and efun.top (got 2 for $22 each). Shipping was free but requires a ton of patience. Paid thru PayPal just in case they don't arrive after a couple of months (ordered first week of June).
