Those look kind of cool black chrome and chrome, nice. If anyone gets one of the new models check and see if the wiring is better and post it on here would be great.

I'm going to go double extender rings so I can go with a 18650 and kick.

This is the reason I like the bolt so much. I have options like 18500 battery or 18650 battery or battery + Kick.. Once rewired there isn't much left to do except replace the horn button whenever it goes out.

Marto, just ordered my Bolt and will be receiving it on Monday. I've read lots of posts on issues with the buttons and wires and why one should go with the SB instead. But after reading your post on rewiring and button change, I'm sold on the Bolt. Could you provide more info on the rewiring of the Bolt either by PM or posting here? My hands are large and I do not have much experience in soldering (a chemical engineer by trade) and any additional tips would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am still using the same button that it came with, I don't know when it's going to fail so can't say much about it yet.

You'll need to get or borrow
continuity tester or Multimeter with this feature
Solder Iron
0.015 Dia lead free solder
small screwdriver
Hotglue Gluegun really helpful as well
you can pick your AWG wire as I'm not going to really recommend any and I'll say what I use.

If you can desolder that would be great as you can clean out the positive connections and put your new wire inside the 510 connectors.

I am using 24 Awg in mine since it can handle 3.5 amp Chassis.

Open the Bolt up
Use bluntnose pliers and grab that center Gold positive connection. Pull slowly but don't squeeze the pliers on it too much as it maybe hollow and you really don't want to mar up the thing either.

Bust the wire off the plastic insert.

I used a Master torch to soften the hotglue. Then pulled the hot glue out in chunks until I could push the switch out from the inside.

There is only hot glue holding in the switch on my unit yours may or may not be the same. So go slow you'll know by looking at it and pulling out small chunks of hotglue if the switch is attached to anything or not.

Once the switch was moveable I pushed it from the inside out and used the solder iron to loosen the solder until the wires came free.

I removed the rest of the hotglue and used the solder iron to loosen the wire on the 510 connector then pulled it free. I used a small screwdriver and pushed out the center of the 510 connector from the inside since I didn't want to overheat the insulation soldering the new wire in.

Measured the old wire and replaced it with the same length new wire. I stripped about 2 mm of insulation off and soldered the new on and put it back together as I disassembled it.

Note on pushing the 510 positive center pin back in, look inside the connector make sure the insulation is fully around the pin on both sides. Check center pin with continuity tester for shorts.

Put the switch in and held it in place, used hotglue gun and put in new glue. Once glue was fairly hard I let the switch go and finished assembly.

After it was all together I checked for shorts. Battery positive to cap top.. Battery positive to cap top with switch pressed.

It's really simple and easy fix. I should have made a video of it maybe if I get another one sometime I'll do a How To Video.

Just remember by doing this with thicker wire. it will no longer act sort of like a fuse and burn out if it shorts. you can put a fuse inside if you wish to be safer.

BTW. I am looking into PTC Polyswitches as a fuse that will autoreset so there would be no need to replace the fuse when amperage exceeds intended battery design.

Thanks Marto. A very informative post! I also looked up videos on soldering and will be doing some practice on wires once I get the soldering iron and the heater gun itself.
One more thing, does using too high an AWG increases the resistance of the whole unit?

Higher resistance is based really off distance and I mean we're talking like 70mm here @ 24 Awg that's about 0.006 Ohms

but I mean at such a small run even going say 26 Awg your talking about 0.01 Ohms

I have really been thinking of getting one of these bolts. As I am on a budget yet I think I need a back up device. I like my firefly kit and all but I would like something that wouldn't look so silly with a j tank or something. Also I was thinking it would be a great device to put a kick on later if I decided too. This would also be my first mod. Would this be a good step into the mod world?

Martö is correct, No Extender included. But if your like me and have not jumped onto the BOLT bandwagon, you may be in luck. They have 2 new colors out now. Chrome and Black Chrome. The Black Chrome is SCREAMIN my name

They can be found cheaper without the extender included with this one....But this supplier is good in my opinion

I think I will get one next payday...I have had the itch for a mod for a few days now but can't afford the really awesome ones like the provari, silver bullets, buzz pros, and what ever else. Besides you can get the extension and run a kick so it seems like a good budget mod that doesn't look like a terrorist detonation device.

Exactly my line of thought.

I can get a bolt, Dual coil tank, 2 batts, and charger use that for a bit.

Then I can expand it up.. Extension then into a 18650 batt

Then into a Kick

Be happy with that until I start working again when I can afford a higher end model.

I love my Bolt!!! I love my Provari too, but the Bolt is great for the price! I also bought a Variable Volt Vector from Vaporbeast and it performs well! One thing about Vaporbeast is they stand behind their products! I think I'm getting addicted to buying mods!

Just got my bolt! I love it. ordered from Vaporbeast on thurs and it was actually shipped on friday (figured they would take the weekend off for easter But these guys were awesome and go it shipped out to me A+) ive been using a lavatube And im still waiting to get a kick. i figured i wouldnt like going back to 3.7 but i was amazed how much i enjoy it with lr stuff still. Also got my first lr 306 and the combo with that on the bolt is just outstanding. and its a lot smaller than i thought i would be (but that might just be because im use to carrying the lavatube around) i even got the 18650 ext. and its still small. idk what else to say besides i love it and Vaporbeast def do care about their customers they threw in a bunch of extras for me as well!.

Yes the Bolt is a good MOD for the price. I am posting since some asked about a "Kicked" Bolt. I decided to try the double ring extender when Beta testing the Kick and you CAN get a kick and an 18650 batt into a Bolt. The Bolt uses thin gauge wires from the button to the 510 connector so if you dial up the Kick to 10watts you do run the risk of hitting those wires with more amps than they can carry. I vape in the 8.5 watt range and the thing has been going strong for month.

Honestly if i had the funds i would have got the silver bullet! but if you have the money order a bolt as the back up to the silver bullet for 37 you cant go wrong as a back up!

I probably will eventually. I went back and forth on which one I wanted for the past 48 hours or so but in the end I the SB one and I just wanted to update everyone since I was originally going to go with the bolt. and I still may get one down the road with an extension so I can use the same batteries...but use the bolt for say camping of out doors stuff were I would not want to get my SB messed up or lost.

agreed that was one of my deciding factor was messing it up. i tend to drop stuff alot so the bolt was the right choice but i may get either a SB or a Bombshell (would fit my name lol) for at my desk and grab a kick just to step things up a notch

Agreed, that's me. I drop the eGo's with tanks (never messed one up) and just about every other ecig I've had. heck, I dropped the analogs too come to think of it. lol. I'm not as big of a klutz as I make it sound but the Bolt or any "budget friendly" mod is great for this reason if no other.

Know how that goes djwyman. Sb isn't bad at all, I doubt you'll have to do any rewiring with it.. I wouldn't mind one myself. But I am a Disabled Veteran that's been unemployed a year now. I have to make my compensation check stretch as far as possible..

I misplaced my bolt today, about had a heart attack because I can't afford to smoke anymore or replace this bolt anytime soon.. I used all my tax refunds to buy e-cigs and juice to last me 6 months by then I'll be able to afford a kick. But I think I am going to have to get another Bolt.
