The Chain Vaping Effect

Hello All,

I started thinking of ways to help promote vaping and ways to increase the amount of people doing it, that can only be beneficial for our community, sellers and the health of many millions of analogue smokers.

Just a thought, why don't each of us try at least once a week to let a smoker know there is a better option to cancer sticks.

This idea came from the way most car forums operate, there is mainly web traffic but also we carry around calling cards and when we see a car of our target make then we leave the card on it letting the owner know about our community.

Now, granted calling cards might not work for vaping so it might be better just to let people know it exists because I'm not sure about you but when someone sees me vaping in public, they have a million and one questions for me, so why not cut out the middle man and approach them ourselves, safely of course.

Some numbers, there are 128,872 forum members, about 10% are active members, that's about 13,000.

If every week each of us told just one smoker about vaping that's another 13,000 potential users.

I know its far fethced, but if that trend continued every week, that's 169,000,000 more people that know about vaping and its benefits over smoking.

Please let me know what you think about this, your thoughts would be appreciated whether positive or negative.

It was just a bored Sunday arvo (AEST) idea that I thought I'd share with you all
:)

I've converted one smoker to vaping, and another 2 people waiting on on orders coming through and things, the biggest struggle I find with it is explaining what all they need to even just get started, many I know have bought disposables and things and went back to smoking because they can't get their hands on e-cigs or don't have e-liquids etc, I think there needs to be a way of making vaping more readily available to the average joe *EDIT* It is a very good suggestion, is there any way of getting a sponsor to supply disposables and a card to give them also with their website/details on how to order more and wherefrom, just a thought.

Love your idea OP, you sound like a pay-it-forward kinda guy. Here is a link http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/site-feedback-help/403280-ecf-business-cards.html#post9205031 I always carry a few of them in my wallet if I cross paths with right person. Doesn't work that way sadly. Smokers need to find vaping, not the other way around. Marketing, either high end or grassroots, isn't as effective as social pressure. Lead by example. So unless the producers of popular reality shows showed more scenes of the people with digital cigs instead of analogs while talking about their relationships, then both smokers and non-smokers would catch on and accept it more, Personally speaking, I may have quit smoking on Sun Sept 23, 2012 @ 10 pm because my girl brought home a blu disposible but the only reason I stayed smoke-free is because 2 weeks later I discovered ecf.

My vaping buddy and I have converted several in our office (and through them their family members) and even approached our HR department about adding e-cigs to their smoking cessation program (no word back...yet).

However, I've never been a big fan of proselytizing (or would that be apologist?) as most people don't like being preached too but I do carry a few vendor cards with me just in case.

I have potentially also converted one :p

Seeing her this weekend and giving her one of my units I don't use anymore along with some juice and info on where to buy more.

I have spoken to pretty much anyone that'll listen to my ranting about my e-cig and how much it has improved my life, I think pl at work are starting to avoid me! :p LOL

I made the mistake of bringing my mod into Walmart with me the other day and while waiting in line to pay for my tube socks & boxer shorts, the lady behind me asked, "can you get high off that thing??" When I said no, she seemed disappointed. The moral of the story is, don't go to walmart

Priceless. Thanks for the laugh RedhatPat :thumb:

I am a singer in a reasonably popular band here in Melbourne Australia and I've been doing a fair bit of promo on E Cigs on my Facebook page. So far I've converted 9 of my friends and had a heap of Facebook friends contact me asking all about it and how to go about getting onto E Cigs.
So I have a standard message I send to people who ask, which has all the good vendors I've used and the good and reasonably cheap "start up" kits. It's funny though how many people will baulk at the fact that they might have to spend around the $80 - $120 mark to get a good start up kit, juice etc....but they are happy to buy a pack of smokes each day which are about $19 dollars here...
Anyway all you can do is promote it and give people the info!
(The band is called "Dead Star Renegade" too if anyone's interested, Hard Rock stuff ;)

I've been trying, but none of my friends are open to the concept yet. I have two friends who even bought a Spinner and a Vivi Nova, only to give up after a week or so. They didn't listen to my advice about ohms and voltage, and they didn't want to clean the Novas out ever. I think alot of the smokers out there are very 'direct' (trying to avoid using the term 'simple minded') and want a thing you can pick up, hit, and it works all the time with no math, no fiddling, no cleaning, no charging, etc. Thats just not the nature of ecigs, unelss you want to buy a million disposables. I've noticed most of us are ok with, or even enjoy, fiddling with equipment from time to time, which seems to me to be part of the reason this community feels so 'community-ish'.

I think this idea is a good one. And I do tend to talk to strangers I don't know about vaping because they ask me what I'm doing. I won't just go right up to a smoker and start telling them about ecigs though. I'm not that in your face, but if they see me, and ask me I'm game. I too have gotten 3 people from my work vaping, and it's a good feeling for sure.

I live in a VERY small town and have converted 3.5 friends to vaping (the .5 is on the fence). Yesterday, while standing in a parking lot "sharing" vaping info with my daughter and a friend this random guy walked by. He went to his truck and came out with his PV! Said, "I heard you talking about it." We toasted each other and discussed our favorite flaves. My daughter was quite impressed. I'm thinking she may cross over to the vape side soon. Fiingers crossed.

Great stories everyone, keep them coming!

I personally see this as a way to spread the work about vaping and get people off the cigarette, in fact I think I remember a friend showing me a disposable but it must have been nearly dry because I got a terrible burnt taste and didn't like it at all. that was my first e cig experience but now with all the knowledge I'm gaining on ECF its making a big difference.

I just wish someone had shown one to me years ago in the right way, would have saved me years of smoking and potentially thousands of dollars!

If we can convert (too strong a word?) at least one smoker each, it would make a big change. And that's the chain effect :)

You don't have to point a new vaper to expensive start-ups.
The thing to do is point them to something affordable so they can just try things out and decide if they like it.
Tell them that if they like it, to get a backup. Once they really like it, you recommend the higher priced stuff.

To make it easy, give them a site that has everything that they need. Here are two sites that I have had positive expierences with.

This is from one site that has it all in stock:

this site keeps running out, but that is because it is less expensive

Just vape around them and keep telling them how good this juice is.. and keep using different juices and telling them how much money can be saved. :)
