(keeping fingers crossed to not attract a completely different set of people :nun:)

AHA! So I was right. You're only HOT to FEMALE miners! (or the "other sort" of male ones!) ;) And no I certainly mean no disrespect to that "other sort," my son is one! :D

The FDA just need to outlaw children.

Not so much outlaw them as keep them in camps where they can't both anyone until they are of voting age. Some place like North Dakota. It has massive stretches of land where no one live that would be perfect place for "Camp Happy Growin Up! Where 6 hours of accelerated school and 6 hours of labor turn a kid into a man!"

I think that's the whole purpose of boarding schools, for those well-heeled enough to afford them -- keep the brats out of sight till they're grown. :D It makes me sad, to think of the fun those parents are missing -- sure, raising a kid can be very trying and challenging.. but it can also be hilarious on a routine basis. :D

Ok back to the subject of the thread.

The only thing I would have to add (within ECF rules that is) is that the arguments employed by ANTZ are very vulgar, of such vulgarity that it is impossible to combat them in a family oriented forum. Even the pics of rotten body parts that they mandated on cigarette packs would not pass the test (they're not not even "office friendly"; they got away with that through banning display of cigarette packs in shops so no one could complain of being accidentally exposed to such gore).

It is highly assymetric to combat their arguments within the limits of common sense, civil, polite discourse and sound science. Their rhetoric demands equally powerful answers that are guaranteed to shock bystanders and break rules.

As such, I'm better out of this thread

Ok back on topic Caramel is hot :wub:no wait children something or another was the topic right?

Can we please clarify something? I started off thinking Caramel was female; then something was said that made me think the opposite was true; now I'm seeing things that tend to support my first assumption.... so which is it?

Ah, just cut out that part of your brain that allows for free thought and listen to the government. They always know what's best for everybody anyway.
I'm really more afraid of nanny-state Big Business dictating what we can and can't do on our own time, away from work, intruding on our personal lives in the process. Yes, this includes vaping in our own home. The government has nothing on corporate tyrants, who (think they can) use the power of the paycheck to order us how to live. Some companies make tinhorn dicators look like amateurs by comparison.

Well you always have the option to work somewhere else. The place I work doesn't care what I do when I'm not on the clock.

OT: The option to work elsewhere, as you put it, is not as easy as it sounds. Jobs are not easy to come by and bosses know it, so they have us over a barrel. That's how come they can get away with acting like two-bit tyrants; corporations have become more powerful than government, who seems to be doing their bidding.

But, as a business, it's their option to run it however they please. The downside to that is unhappy employees are less productive and the turnover rate is usually higher.

I understand that jobs are harder to come by, but that wouldn't stop me from looking if my employer were acting like that. When we had a scare about a new general manager possibly dissolving the union, I right away started looking at other opportunities (granted I'm in a specialized field and it really wouldn't be hard for me to switch to another job with the knowledge I have).

...maybe I should have mentioned something else... Even though I don't encourage my children to vape, and just outright ban smoking in the house, I believe it is MY decision to make, not the governments. I believe the government should do it's best to educate and teach the people, and protect against false accusations. I believe the FDA is a good concept that could be aimed at protecting the people.

However, when you raise the curtains and see what's really happening, the government teaches, but only if it benefits them. The false accusations are made by the government based on hearsay, and the FDA cares more about protecting their image than protecting the people.

We should be living in a free country where we make our own decisions. I don't mind paying taxes... As long as the money is put to good use. Too many times, my "free country" has spent the money on things nobody knows about, and spent a LOT on it. the story of the $1000 hammer is real, but it's not like what most people think. Our government has become so large, that it's hard to walk to the bathroom without going through red tape. If someone needs a hammer that sells for $12, getting the funds/equipment requisitions is such a long task, involving so many people, that they end up paying $900 in salaries for that $12 hammer. The government has nannied itself out of $900. For that reason, EVERYTHING is over priced and the red tape is putting the government into bankruptcy.

The FDA is a prime example of that and it's exemplified by their thoughts on the Ecig industry. They are nannying the whole lot, and trying to lump it all into one big group. They're spending more money trying to tax it, control it, and ban it than they are on actually researching it. As it is now, someone says "looks like they're smoking" so the FDA ramps up the nanny wagon and is spending so much money in trying to regulate it, advertise against it, and ban it....and they don't even know what it is. When someone mentions children, there goes their self image, so they go into overdrive trying to do the "right thing" that was proposed by the uneducated.

It sickens me. The FDA does some good... but the act first research second thing is a big waste of my money. Everyone hears stories about stuff like Saccharin and how it's bad for you. Guess what... it's not. But the damage is done, and people have this bad image based on false tests.

I could go on, but when someone mentions FDA and children, things usually don't sit well with me. :)
