O.K. so everyone talking about animal rules in their neighborhood. I had to go and check on ours since I am sitting on 9 dogs at the moment.
Apparently I can keep an elephant in my back yard as long as it's fenced and not a nuisance to my neighbors.
Pit Bulls are held harmless if they kill an intruder in the home.No limit on dogs or cats unless they are a nuisance to the neighbors.
No one can kill an animal or be mean to one.
I can buy chickens as long as they are not dyed.
Apparently if I can contain the animal in my yard without being a nuisance or health hazard I can have whatever and how many I want. SCORE!

I've not had a pit bull but I have a German Shepherd.(Babysitting her for my son) She can't do steps anymore and there's 20 steps to his Apt. So I will say this...German Shepherds are the smartest, alertest, bestest buddy ever. When they love you it's forever. When my son comes to visit she cries like a baby when he comes and when he leaves...What a frightening creature.
When my mom first came home with me for the very first time, my dad had a German Shepard puppy waiting on us. He was the best dog Ive ever had. He was protective of all of us, but more so with me than anyone else. My dad could spank my brother and the dog would growl at him but that was it. One day I had done something stupid (I know, big surprise, right?) and my dad went to whoop my ..... The dog growled at him as he reared back with the belt. Dad made the mistake of ignoring him. As he started swinging his arm down, the dog caught is forearm and took my dad to the floor and pinned him. No blood, no damage. Just a "im gonna chew you up if you beat that boy" warning. Naturally, it didnt last long, but the dog made his point. Since then, whenever I came home from school and the dog was penned up in the back yard, I knew I was in trouble for something. Dad never did dole out any more whoopin's with the dog in the house. :D

I believe they pick you too. Cats also pick their person and sometimes the house they want to live in.
