Yay, my nails made it through the night.
I KNOW!!!! I know.... Things havent been going smoothly this week though. That should, hopefully, be able to change very very soon. How is that possible??? Come here..I wanna physically :facepam: you
That hurts meJames, I am disappointed in you. *tsk tsk*
Theres another thread for that...Yay, my nails made it through the night.
NOB (where you have to literally drive UNDER the airstrip) and NASO have got to be the worst in the country for that. Even Fentress (in the same area) is pretty well cleared out around it. Pensacola, same thing... No residential within a couple of miles of any flight paths. But VA Beach is prime real estate. ...... ignored community safety to make a buck in building the neighborhoods, then for the taxes.James, I'm not liking the crash, but agreeing with the sentiments of your post. I lived and worked in the Tidewater area for 10 years, and was surprised we didn't have more issues with as close as the airfields were to the freeways and other populated areas.
Back from the tax lady. yes, sand and broken glass were involved. As this is a clean forum that's all I can or will say.
It's good to be home.
carry on.

FV,
did she say the 4 most dreaded words anyone can hear from the tax lady?
See you next year? *shudders*
Worse. I have payment coupons. And see you again before 4/17.
Whats crazy, is that there is NO WAY that no one could look at how the area is laid out and not think it couldnt happen. There are maps of different zones around the base in reds, oranges, and yellows to determine the likelyhood of a plane crash in those areas. Most of them are clearly residential areas. One area of red even includes a large mall.
For decades, builders would ask to build closer and closer to the base. For decades, the Navy said no. For decades, some politician somewhere would say we dont care what the Navy says, go ahead and build those homes and stores so we can get more money.... Today is, I hope, a wake up call to someone with the testicular fortitude to change something about it. It may not happen again anytime soon, but there is no doubt in my mind it will happen again. And when it does, I wouldnt put any money on there being no casualties...
Glad to hear there weren't any casualties. I lived in Norfolk for 2 years and had friends that lived near Oceana. Crazy as it sounds, I kinda miss the sound if a jet engine![]()
You get so used to some noises. We lived under a main runway at Michell Field for years. We never heard the planes. But our poor roofers flattened out on their bellies up there, screaming when the first one went over. Scared them half to death.
That made me giggle
