Oh, no you didn't miss it. The carpet is going to be bordeaux. *shocking, I know* It's a very pretty color that has just a bit of brown to keep it from looking like a true wine color. I'm looking at a fairly dark grey that has just a touch of brown in it for the family room, called none other than Man Cave. No decisions yet on the office, probably something on the darker side although maybe a tad cooler than the family room. I'm still going with neutrals, but darker with almost no discernable brown or tan in them, other than what is necessary to keep the color on the warmer side in the family room. That room is pretty big with 6 large windows in it, and even though we painted it a fairly dark color it's just too light and doesn't feel intimate. Although it could be that all the nicotine yellow on the walls has lightened it up a bit.

That sounds very pretty. Love the man cave
We had the opposite problem in our living room. I had to get bright paint in order to counter our windows. Old house=tall narrow windows. We don't get alot of natural light. The lighter paint really helped and everyone seems to comment on it being nice and comfy in here now, guess it worked. I am typically a more earthy color kind of girl. I like the dark side...go figure.

Of course, that's today... Ask me again in a week. I'm even going back to the carpet store tomorrow to make sure this is the right color carpet for us. If we have to live with it for at least another 9 years I want to make sure I don't get sick of it until year 8.

awwwww geeze. You are just asking for it. lol.

I didn't know Wisconsin had a beach.Do you import the sand from Miami?

That sounds pretty Sallie! We don't have any carpeting here. Tile and wood. The sand is pure havoc on carpeting, so when we saw this house with the tile floors it helped our decision to buy it. Now I hate the tile of course... it's been 12 years though.

The Shed Monster? Do you still have a dog when you're done?
If I stay up on brushing Maynard it gets better. Have you heard of those Shed Monster pet brushes? They actually are a miraculous product. Don't judge me for buying As Seen on TV Stuff lol.

We have hardwood everywhere the dogs don't go regularly. We do have carpeting upstairs, but the dogs are rarely there. We've also got some tile and there is vinyl in the kitchen and mudroom. We were trying to make it a dog friendly house. Now I'm wondering if we wouldn't be better off with all hardwood with area rugs. Tile isn't a great choice for us. Our dogs can barely walk on the dry tile. I can only imagine the circus that would ensue during the winter when most of the floors have wet paw prints on them every time the dogs come inside. Grimm kinds splays out his feet and walks like a 100 year old man when he has to walk on the tile.

yeah, surprisingly. But it looks like you took 4 dogs off when you're done. They make them for short and long haired dogs/cats. Look....
