    Hello to the posse, as you have noticed by my total lack of spam, have not been on in a few days. Our male cat who has had numerous urine crystal issues in the past became totally blocked and we spent a dumptruck load of cash and the entire weekend taking him from one vet, and even an emergency after hours hospital. Feel very bad for him, and at one point we thought he was done, but somehow he's still kicking. Already had one catheter, which emptied him, but after 20 hours at home, it was obvious he had re-blocked. Because we have soo many cats, the very REAL possibility that we would not be able to fund many more trips for him loomed over our heads, waiting in waiting rooms, after midnight, etc, etc.

    You know it's not good if they want an $1,900.00 deposit. Very stressful, no sleep, and YES, my Provari was going like a fog machine. Hope everyone is well, and somehow Frances responded to a mix of anti-spasm, and valium and he appears to be unblocked at this point. Not sure what is going to happen in the near future, but I hope we don't get forced into making a decision we would rather not.

    Dinner was a near failure. We had ground beef pulled out for dinner two days ago that had to be cooked. I didnt want to go through the trouble of hamburgers, weve had too much spaghetti in the last week, we have nothing to make tacos with.... So, I started making a shepards pie. Started boiling up the corn, and browning the beef, went to pull out the instant 'taters..... Less than a serving. We usually fix 8 servings.... So I decided to go with rice. Which we are now almost out of. I pulled out the bag of shredded cheddar to use in the rice. It had been opened. In the year 2003 apparently. Cheese NEVER lasts that long in this house. We did have some unopened shredded cheese. Mexican blend. Thankfully, it didnt have the seasoning added to it, just a blend of cheeses. Oh wait, my kids are picky. "We dont want to eat it all together like that." :glare: So, I piled on the browned ground beef, a few spoonfuls of white rice, and a scoop of corn. Then layered it the remaining food into a casserole and topped it with the remaining cheese. It ended up being ok, but its a far cry from what I had intended.

    Hehe, haven't smiled all weekend, until now. :)
    Always happy to help. I hate to hear about your weekend though. I know its never fun to have to go through anything like that.

    Hugs to you, your wife & Frances! Sorry it was such a hard weekend for you all. Hope he doesn't have any more problems.

    Sounds like my kids. I can never fix a meal they're both satisfied with.

    Session, I'm sorry to hear Frances is still having problems. {{{{HUGS}}}}

    Has he been neutered? I've had male cats and had heard that helps keep the blockage from happening. Not sure if it's an old wives' tale or not though.

    Thanks Bamrz. Yes he has been spayed. Apparently urinary crystals and the disease are almost always passed on to male cats, and run in bloodlines. He's about 15, and we've had issues with his crystal before, but never a total blockage. As the vets have told us sometimes they reblock a day or two later, which was the case here. Feel bad for him, has all 4 or his legs shaved above the paws, so it looks like he's wearing 4 boots due to the numerous IV's, etc. Have had to deal with enough end of life issues in other pets, and didn't want to be dealing with that for him just yet, and the associated costs as well. Never like to place a dollar limit on my animals, but there just is only so much, so we are praying, and time will tell.

    Have had him on C/D prescription food for some time, and try to stay on top of fresh water daily if not more. Have ordered a water fountain drinking station for the cats to see if we can encourage more drinking. Thanks again.

    Session sory to hear about Frances.Hope all works out well for him.

    Thank you.
