AZ,,, Sorry it has taken so long to get back to this. I have used Both Massive Choc. Mint and Boba's bounty.. I have had not issues with the juice wicking into the Carto... BUT i do a dry pull every so often to bring juice into the carto so this may be why i have had no issues, You may want to give it a try.. Just a couple sharp pulls thru the drip tip without firing it....

Hmm... I wonder if it is an elevation thing....
or perhaps we are differing in the depth of punch we are making.

Well I hate to bring up something negative about this product without giving the vendor a chance to correct it for me first, so I'm going to send Bruce a web contact form and see what he is willing to do before I blurt it out in public here.

Just bought one of these yesterday and it shipped out a few hours after I ordered. Can't wait to try it. I figure punched cartos cost a little over a dollar more than non punched, so it will pay for itself pretty quickly.

This punch tool is perfect now with the new tip size. You get a satisfying noise when the tip actually pierces the steel (which I didn't get with the previous tip) and the taper allows you to select the size of hole you want by turning the screw further. (the old screw tip had no taper).

I used this new screw to quad punch a Boge 2.0 for Boba's Bounty and it rocked !

So if anyone had been holding off on the COV punch cause they were worried about the performance of the punches it would make with 100% VG juice, wait no longer. Just make sure you prefill the carto and then punch 4 medium sized holes.

(YMMV. Some people get Boba's Bounty to work fine with just two holes, but for me 4 holes is where it's at !)

There is a limitation to these devices that I'm surprised no one has mentioned. You cannot use it to add or widen holes on a Smoktech or similar prepunched carto. The flange prevents insertion into the device.

Otherwise the thing works simply and effectively.

They are so new that I doubt anyone has had a chance to dull one. Unless they are lying about the carbide tip it should last basically forever. Carbide is extremely hard and is what they use in very expensive cutting tools.

This is a great tool! But having one issue with the last set of smoke tech dual coils that i purchased. They have a "flanged" bottom not allowing the carto to go all the way in.
Is there a planned update?
Or are "flanged" bottoms optional and just luck of the draw that I got a batch?

The next punch will be redesigned to take the flanged cartos. The current one was not designed that way since they are already punched.

Fantastic little tool, I received mine a couple days ago so I can't speak to its longevity but using it on the XL Renews is very simple and precise. From what I have been able to find it is the best long term solution to self punched cartos. It's very well made and I can't see it wearing out any time soon. If your on the fence and it won't break the bank I highly recommend it.
