Hey UD,
Its actually less stress on the unit to use higher (2.0 or higher) Ohm gear as The Darwin will stryuggle to put out lower than 3.6 Volts on lower (below 9 watts) settings...As far as the battery life with the Darwin because you are using Power Regulation and NOT VV it only knows the watts used. So for instance, if you run a 3.2 carto at 9 watts, it is no different then running a 2.5 atty at 9 watts...The power discharged is in watts...I hope that sort of explains it....Thanks
Drew

it knows that it requires slightly higher amperage to generate 9 watts for the 2.5Ω atty vs the 3.2Ω carto, and that will drain the battery a little faster, if all else remains constant. so the real benefit to using higher resistance attys and cartos is that you'll demand less amperage from the battery and therefore extend the battery time, but it's minimal, and the beauty of the darwin is that regardless of extending the battery life a few minutes or few hours, you get to take whatever atomizers you already have, be they low, standard or high resistance, and use them all at the power setting of your choice.

Drew your explanation above is informative, thanks. That having been said can you or anyone here direct me to a thread that discusses the basic "101 theory of power regulation opposed to voltage variance". I have both the Darwin and the ProVari now, enjoy them both very much and would like a fuller understanding in regards to the differences between the two when it comes to the power hitting the atty..

here's a review/ comparison of the two, and others have touched on the technical differences between changing voltage settings manually to set power for a given atomizer vs. setting power manually to manipulate the voltage required to deliver that power in this thread and several others in the review section as well. but having both puts you in a great space to figure out the differences between the two approaches with each atty configuration you can throw at them.

Thank you that is what I thought so I have been getting higher ohm and just wanted to make sure, I am really liking the Clear Duel 2.5 i got from you and cant tell any difference in taste from using just an atty. I can turn them baby's as high or as low as i want and they work grate. I use the cap and not the whistle tip and the only thing that would make them perfect would be colored caps to sort out my juices 8)

variable voltage VS variable power

These exist to find a sweet spot for you Power(watts) wise, everyone is different.

VV changes the voltage, current stays the same. you increase Power by upping volts only. you must learn where to set for each atomizer, and constantly adjust.

Variable power does the work for you. You find your sweet spot of Power and the device adjust the volts AND amps to achieve the selected power. No matter what you attach.

In the end its all about watts

Me too, and now that more of my HV stuff is in and I've tried some of it....
I do like it much more! Same Pixie settings, but a somewhat different experience from the LR stuff. It just seems to work better/smoother. Battery is lasting longer between charges.

Dualies are a different beast....they call for a set of rules/math of their own. It's more like attaching two vertical coil KR808D-1 cartos end to end to a battery and puffin' on them. Kinda like running two 40w bulbs in a lamp instead of one 80w one.

Check the drip tips section at Nhaler...they have colored whistle tips :)

I just got the 2.5 ohm clear dual coils today, Ud, and I'm lovin' them too! And, I'm in rare territory at 10.6 pixies.

Right now have one loaded up on the Darwin with Asian Pear and wearing a yellow drip tip so I can tell it apart from the one filled with Watermelon and wearing a magenta tip.

I was thinking about grabbing some of those clear duallies...good, huh?

Yep...I wasn't too thrilled with my first experience because I used a juice that oxidized to an unattractive color but I've since realized there was something funky about that juice anyway and have ditched it. With good quality juice and the Darwin - perfect combo. Just when I was about to abandon fill again I tried these and immediately started building a stockpile of them...you know...for the vape apocalypse.

First the bigger frying pan and now the light bulb analogy...can't we just call them magical? But, this really does help me understand them even better now. Thanks, Credo.

I'll try them out, but since everyone seems to be loving them, probably going to buy some of every ohm eventually. OK...done shopping!!! No more talk of any new toys or juices...please??

Not another syllable about anything new or shiny or oomph-y, I promise! What's your pixie setting right now, Kris?

ok so my Darwin came today, I thought well lets give this thing a try just got home from work and my regular every day juice was empty didn’t want to refill just yet so I grabbed my spare that I keep some cinnicide in screwed that thing on and hit that button expecting it to vape like my 3.7v chuck took a long slow draw then inhaled and I got so much vapor I almost choked and had a coughing fit, flipped it over and it was set at 8.0 dam forgot to check to see what it was set at before taking that first hit. Well I got excited and forgot it was vv device. Lesson learned now after I get over the scorched throat to check it every time before hitting it. One question I have is, is there a user manual I can get?
How do you know its charging? Questions, questions
thanks cg
