Just unboxed my Darwin... initial impressions... this thing is DOPE!! It's big... but DOPE!

Too bad the battery didn't have much of a charge... I plugged it in, no indication that it's charging... just a blank screen... is that normal?? Is there a user's guide anywhere?

Somewhere in this thread is a link to a PDF guide someone did. There's not much to it though...save your time/trouble :)

Just ask questions...it's pretty intuitive really. An arm, a button, and a dial.

That is correct. If it is off (arm down) you see nothing at all. If it is on (arm up) you can vape it while it is charging once it has enough charge to drive your chosen atty/carto. There is no indicator to let you know it is charging (at least not on mine...an earlier version than yours no doubt). When the battery indicator bar gets down to half way (It'll take it forever to move from full...then it suddenly drops to half way), it's probably a good idea to get it on a charger soon.

You can use the wall charger that comes with it...and you can also use a mini USB cable with other USB equipped power sources.

Nice, thank you... ok, so how do I turn the LED light off?? Heard a rumor that this is possible...

Anyone interested in a Giantomizer or 3? I bought 5, and just don't like them. The same as the CE2 using the supplied mouthpiece, it spits hot juice at me. At least with the CE2, you can use a drip tip to avoid most of it, but there is no optional tip for the Giantomizer.

Al

What version are they? BIG differences in the last couple of revisions.

The Darwin made simple...

1. Screw on any atomizer with cart/tank/drip-tip, or a cartomizer. (make sure it is filled or primed with liquid).
2. Turn the dial down as low as it will go (4.2).
3. Push the button and vape.
4. If you want more/warmer vape, turn the power setting up gradually until you find a sweet spot for the liquid at hand.
5. Remember that sweet spot (power level number) for said liquid.

6. When the battery gets low, plug it up to charge...you can usually keep using the Darwin while it is charging. Or, just plug it up when you're sleeping and keep it fresh.

7. Stock up on adapters/extensions. They can extend the arm a little longer so more carto types work, and you can try anything and everything out there that will screw on a PV. In the least get a few 510>510 extensions if not a series of adapters. For me this combo of extensions is nice to have: 510>510, 510>901, 901>510, 901>801 With those four bits, it's hard to find any atty or carto that won't work on a Darwin. I almost never take the first 510>510 extension off my Darwin except to clean it out occasionally...it catches liquid and protects the original brass threads from wear and tear. Some folks might even like a goose-neck extension. Drippers might even like the Empire Drip Shield.

8. Enjoy the swinging arm! It doesn't have to be extended to a full 180 degrees for it to work. I.E. with it at 90 degrees, you can hold the Darwin different ways, and it's easy to set it down on a table/car-seat/etc. and not worry about it tipping over and such as that.

9. Now, lets pretend you have a Banana Nut Crab Berry Cake flavor that you liked alot at a power setting of 7. From now on, you can screw on pretty much any atty/carto and start with 7 and the 'heat' at the coils is going to be very close to the same. The Darwin will do everything it needs to do automatically to keep the coils operating at 7 watts. Of course slight adjustments of the dial might be in order for a new atty/carto to perform the best for you, but you can get pretty darn close just in remembering the 7.

10. You can flip the arm all the way down and it will turn the Darwin 'off'. You can just leave it on all the time...but it's nice to know it can be fully powered down if you want to stuff it in a pocket/purse/suitcase/etc. where it might misfire if the button gets pushed by accident.

what is the best place to get the adapters/extensions?

Since this is the Nhaler thread, I'm gonna point you there of course :)

Almost ALL PV shops will carry them, and the prices will be similar, so where ever you stock up next should be fine. In this case you want the regular ones, NOT the stealth type.

Welcome to the Darwinians, Chornbro! I am fairly new to it, perhaps a month. I am still having fun with how many variations any one juice can have, just by juggling the watts/heat (the number in large font). No parts swapping required to warm it up/cool it down.

In general, Darwin should be most versatile with high resistance (3-ohm or so) atty/cartos. LR is good for raising the temps in most other PVs. In a Darwin it can limit your range, and will definitely suck the battery down faster.

It's easy to get stuck in the 8.7 detent, but as Credo said, start low, and keep trying differing temps.

@KatD, did your arm start working?

I'm still here on ECF... sort of. ;)

Nano sweets, my arms are working just fine. So well in fact, I'll be flying myself to the Ohio Vape meet!

It's the poor D'win that is having an issue ;)

I have a friend/mechanic who might have some sort of way of putting some grease in/on the arm. I just don't see how to do it. Would I dare to spray a dash of WD40 on it, very carefully and gently?

LR drains the battery faster?? I would think the high-res atties would would drain it faster cuz it requires more volts

I'm a 306 junkie... I have a handful of 1.5s and an even bigger handful of 3.5s

I also bought 2 2.5 ohm dual coil cleromizers and 1 of the custom 3.5 ohm atomizers to try out dripping. Im also hoping to find a gogo adapter to try and revive this box full of dying gocarts i have. I was tempted to get a vpx tank to see if thats something i would be interested in but held off for now
Oh the choices. Now if i could win the lotter to help fund my new found hobby!
