Now the question is do I really need 4 Darwins??????? An Heir and a spare and a spare. I do like the looks of the new connector

not to throw gas on the fire but when you just put an attie with no adapter the atty actually screws all the way down.. no more space..

My Darwin came back today and is improved in several ways compared to when it was sent in:

- Swing arm looks better and feels better. Much more distinct detents in Off, 90, 135 and 180 degree positions. Also goes to Off more firmly parallel to the body.
- Due to improved 510 connection did not come back with the shorty extension. That's easy to "fix" but I kind of miss it.
- Power pot/wheel feels firmer, has more distinct detent in center position, which now dials 8.5 watts (vs 8.4).
- USB connector is much more firmly in place and no longer wiggles.
- Supposedly a Rev. 14 board inside (which can't be seen of course). Not 100% sure if any components were upgraded. Firmware tweak appears to have eliminated the 6-second "wink" indicating the self-check, but I've been told it still checks.
- The screen is different. I'm not sure if they are planning on using this screen down the road so I won't say much other than it looks better when back lit.

The sum total of some these (individually) relatively minor tweaks definitely gives the Darwin an even more solid, slightly more "upscale" overall feel. Prior to this, while it performed well (prior to the current sense issue) I would have called its feel "utilitarian". Now I'd say it feels more like a precision vaping tool. I'm not sure if that even makes sense, but there it is.

Brandon has been a pleasure to correspond with. He has answered my MANY questions in detail and kept me informed of status throughout. Kudos to him!

I know many have had great long term experiences with theirs but just to be safe (it did just come back from a repair, after all) I'm going to live with mine a bit longer to make sure this impression lasts before "officially" reviewing (or songwriting, for that matter ;) ).

In the meantime I'm considering names. Which is better: Emma, Anne, Henrietta or Elizabeth?

Thanks Landlord!!!!!! Also happy there is No Stock since I really do have this Impulse thing I need to come to terms with. I am looking a 10 foot long bar with more vaping gear than I can count. A nice collection of MOD's with a GLV3 that has not even arrived yet and I am thinking I need another Darwin. OMG I think I might be a candidate for a new Discovery Channel show called PV Intervention!!!! But it is nice to know that I am hanging with other nut cases that are doing the same thing so all is good. Enjoy that new Darwin and here is to many clouds for you with the new toy.

Hmm, these "updates" sound interesting. I definitely like the look of that connector. However, having more detentes in the swing arm isn't a big deal for me. I rarely have it all the way open, but I kinda like that it's free to move. Certainly saved my teeth a few times while driving down bumpy roads when using a SS or ceramic drip tip on my cartos :p

I guess my point is that it's nice to see further developments being made on the Darwin. Good thing I'm too broke to buy a second one ;)

Please be sure to let your D'win family know of the huge sale and give away so that we can, ummm, 'support' your efforts.

(No, Ski-ster, you are not allowed to attend.)

Reasons I love my Darwin:

#1,678 - got a weird short in a carto this morning. Boge carto only reading 2 ohms, was 3 last night and when I meter it it reads 3, but the Darwin is showing 2 while it's connected. Even tried it on another device and yep it vapes like the resistance has suddenly dropped, far too hot at my usual voltage setting for these, but take it back off and meter it and it reads 3 ohms again. Had I woken up and put this carto on another mod at the 4.9 volts I had been running it at I would have had an unpleasant surprise, but with the Darwin I wouldn't have even noticed the difference if I hadn't looked at the screen, since it's still vaping nicely at just shy of 8 watts, exactly the same setting it was on last night at 3 ohms. Ahhh, the joys of regulated power :vapor:

And yes, I did make sure it wasn't a problem with the Darwin, other cartos read correctly ;-)

I got my Darwin back from Brandon a few days ago, I wasn't going to say anything but since vapian mentioned it I will and mine has everything he mentioned as well as the newer blue screen, Brandon was nice enough to put the first blue screen in my unit, as well as the newer arm which is much tighter and has positive stops at different angles which is really nice, the USB is tight now and the electronics for some reason seem to be working even better then ever. This Darwin is by far the nicest Mod I have ever had and I've had a ton of em but the Darwin rules by far. I cant wait for the 'KICK" to come out now so my other Mods can run somewhat like my Darwin. Kudo's to Brandon for his exceptional customer service and quality PV's

I like this new screen, you really cant see it until you hit the power button, otherwise it is a nice dark blue color, the pics dont do it justice but here's a couple below
