i used to live about half hour away from dulles, now im about three hours awaywhen i go to college,
people are definatly not used to vaping yet, yesterday i was walking on a small walkway behind some buildings at my college, no one really around and the head of security stopped me and said "excuse me, you know there is no smoking on campus?!" i said yea thats fine im not smoking a cigg, he says "no smoking devices at all" i said its ok sir this is not a smoking device and walked away, he didnt come running after me or anything, oh well, i try to stay away from the really public areas and only vape in the back or in the parking lot cuz i dont want to deal with things like that, but they still seem to find and bug me.
Yes, welcome to Darwinia, aruga! :vapor:

Too bad I'm only there for about an hour to change planes. I never seem to run into other vapers anywhere.
So far I've actually had a few people going out of their way to avoid me while I'm vaping . . . you'd think they'd be at least somewhat used to it or that there'd be other vapers around, MV's got a retail store just a few miles down the road (need to check that out if I get the time)

Priceless!

You know, with winter approaching and all the metal drip tips in my arsenal, I have had the thought of that happening :p

Hey folks, just ordered the Darwin and was wondering a few things. First, I'm a complete e-cig noob but I wanted to get a good quality mod right off the bat since I knew I would eventually be upgrading to one.

How long do you charge it for out of the box? I've heard so much differing opinions. Some say first charge it overnight before first using it others say just a few hours? Since its an internal battery I'd like to make it last as long as possible.

I ordered a whole bunch of carts and atomizers but now I'm not sure I bought the correct ones to use on the Darwin...I got some...
*Boge Low Resistance Cartomizers (Rated at 2.0 Ohm)
*Boge Standard Resistance Carts (Rated at 2.7 ohm)
*510 Low Resistance Atomizers (Rated at 1.5 ohm. These say not to use on devices delivering more then 3.7V)
*510 XL CE2 Clearomizers (Rated best to use at 2.6-2.8 ohm)
*Smoktech Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer. (Could you tell me what kind of adapter I would need to attach it the Darwin?)

What I'm most confused about is what setting (Watts) I should be using for these. They are all rated at different Ohms so for example if i use a LR Cart at 5 watts can i use 5 watts on the SR or will it damage it?
What would happen if I use the LR atomizer at 5 watts which I assume would put out more then 3.7volts.

What type of atomizers and carts would you recommend to use the Darwin with?

Thanks very much for any help.

bseven, just use it and enjoy. All works and you will find out soon enough what YOU like to use on it the best. All is very subjective.

In general, standard and higher Ωs gives you more actual vaping range to the watts settings. But the bottom line - see what YOU like best. As for the battery, best not to drain to cut-off on a regular basis. Try to charge when gauge gets to half or less. Gauge is not exactly scaled as it tends to hang at full for hours of use. I charge mine every night while I sleep (has smart charge circuitry so no worries about over-charging).

Read this post: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ything-you-ever-wanted-know-about-darwin.html

Happy :vapor:

Hi bseven, and welcome! For charging, the Darwin will arrive with about an 80% charge, so you should have some vaping time on it right out of the box. You can also keep it plugged in while vaping, so that is also an option. I think 4 hours should be pretty safe. Also note that the Darwin has a protection circuit to cut off before damage occurs, so if you go to the cut-off it's not really a big deal. You will just get more life from the batts if you don't make a habit of it.

As for the other part, standard or high resistance stuff works best on the Darwin. I don't like dual coils much on it either, but they do work. They will just tend to wear down the battery a little faster. Your actual vaping wattage will likely be closer to 8.4. I suggest starting at a low wattage and slowly working up to taste. It should get too hot or give dry hits before it pops the atty. The wattage is mostly a function of the juice you are using since the Darwin is always reading the resistance and adjusts accordingly.

5 watts at 1.5 ohms is only about 2.7 volts, but I'm not sure that the Darwin can actually go this low. The voltage will increase as the resistance increases. Just to keep it simple, I would start around seven watts and increase/decrease to taste. This should be a safe way to go. My preference is high resistance atomizers and cartomizers, it gives a little more control of the power

Just a note on charging the Darwin, in particular the initial charge.
I have a USB charger that has a indicator light that lights when power is being drawn from the USB port. When I plug my Darwin into this charger, the battery indicator on the Darwin shows full long before the charge indicator light on the charger goes out. I'm talking about 30 minutes to possibly 2 hours (I haven't had the opportunity to monitor it real closely yet).

The point being, as Neb and others have said, don't rely on the battery gauge of the Darwin as being completely accurate. And just because the gauge shows full, it may not be.
On the initial charge, I would leave it plugged in overnight, at a minimum, to make sure that it gets a full charge.

like people are saying use anything on it, low res high res, doesnt matter, you usually get a longer battery life and more control out of the higher res stuff, but it all works, wattage is gonna be different, once you find a sweet spot, like mine is around 9.5 watts, i leave it at 9.5 watts i can change from a 4 ohm atty to a 2 ohm atty and the watts will stay the same, the voltage and stuff will change but thats not of a big concern to you at this point. the smoke tech mega dual coil are these the big ones that fit on an ego batt? if so, you could ust put a 510-510 adapter on and the emdcc will screw on but you will not beable to budge the arm to close, i believe if you use the 510-510 and then put a 510-efo battery adapter on you should be able to close the arm (dont quote me on that, been a while since i did that) but the cool thing is, you set it at 8watts and chaneg the atty no matter what you walways get that eight watts, so its all trial and error to find out what you like watt wise, and some juices you might like lower or higher, hope that all helps!

Well, I saw this great cartoon in today's USA Today and just had to dig up the image online. I know most, if not all, of us can totally relate ;-)

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Darwin and I absolutely love it. I do have an issue though I hope to get some answers on. I put a 2.0 ohm carto on and it was working beautifully, I took the carto off and put an atty back on and the error started flashing and it wouldnt work, shows the battery was dead. I took the atty off pressed the button and everything appears good, so I thought maybe the atty was defective so I tried another and another and another and it kept throwing up the error and wouldnt work. I tried all the attys on my ego and each one worked. So I am baffled now and think maybe I need to reset the battery so I put it on to charge with it off for a few hours, came back to it and samething. I left it alone on charge again and samething. nothing works. Has this happened to anyone else? is there a way I can fix this that Iam not aware of? Like I said with no atty on the battery indicator shows its fully charged, all the numbers are perfect, as soon as I put an atty on the error starts flashing, battery showing dead.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks ime5000. Yes the Smoketech Dualcoil are for the ego battery. Will pick up that adapter thanks. I should be getting my Darwin today...very excited :)
