how about a link to the video you mention...
Does the Darwin's arm allow for a tank like the lil maam when closed? I saw one in the video about the kick but before I get on the list I want to make sure I can close one with a tank like in the video's
normally a gooseneck is needed with a tank to be able to close...

Maybe he's referring to one of the VTTalk interviews. I recall Brandon had an extended swivel arm he was testing for tanks, just kind of a prototype idea, but he didn't seem too overly enthused by it ;-)

And no the arm won't close with that tank

That's were I saw it. Couldn't remember the video site. Thanks for the info.

Gooseneck with a Darwin almost a must! Would be cool if they had a proprietary gooseneck that came with the Darwin.
Can get "short" GNs from TTT with only about 1" flex - just have to ask for it. One of our Darwinians asked them to make it for exactly this purpose (Darwin). Others subsequently asked and now they make them if requested (in notes). At least they did last time I checked (been a while).

Personally, while I have one, I really don't use it and I use tanks pretty much all the time. I just leave the arm open - it does not drain the batt any faster as being "on" uses no appreciable power.

thejager, I know that some extensions can short out if you tighten them down too hard. I have always used a 510-510 adapter on mine. The Darwin threads are brass, and while the whole brass chunk is quite sturdy I know that brass is softer, and if you cross-thread that, it's out of commission.

I thought I had several dud cartos, wouldn't fire brand new out of the box (I monkeyed around on pulling the center conductor out, as well). It turns out the threads were worn out on the 510-510. I knew they were getting wobbly, I took it off, replaced it like another, just like new.

Makes sense, my only issue is that i use it with a 510-510 always on it too. But now it wont work with no adapter on it and the carto/ato straight on the brass connection.

Anyone have soem links to known 510-510 adapters that do work consistently (short and long)? I haev a ton, but am having no luck right now, and woudl feel better knowing i have equipment that is known to work on other Darwins

It sounds like you have something else going on, time to contact Brandon/Evolv. For what it's worth, I have only used 510-510 from Drew/Nhaler. I think I wore the threads out in mine by carrying it folded in a front pants pocket a lot. The length of the cartos I use adds some leverage and puts more strain on the connectors that would happen in normal use.

Ugh, it's been a rough day. First it was three bad cartos in a row this morning, all in a tank and quite a bit of good juice wasted :( The first one I guess didn't have a big enough hole so wasn't wicking for crap, the second I got two drags off of and then a dead short, then the third one was a ridiculously tight draw (should have checked that before filling) and while I could still hit it the carto kept flooding after a couple draws . . .

Then let's not even mention the nail-biting finish to the game (and not the finish I was hoping for)

Hmph

oops!!! I hit edit insted of reply with Quote!!!

I think unsealed adapters (as far as having a hole in the bottom) are required for bottom feeders, else they would get no juice. If you were using an adapter on an automatic, you would also probably have to have unsealed, or it wouldn't get any air through it to activate it.

Darwin should work with either, but since it's neither an automatic or a bottom feeder, sealed seems best. It just would keep more juice from working it's way into the brass threads. I don't think that really hurts anything, but from time to time I make an effort to clean out the threads wherever the atty/carto screws into anyway.
