I'm sure you guys will get your Darwin delivered today... at least I hope so since we can compare notes.
After the first two blown cartos, everything is just fine. Firing button is nice and solid and the whole unit is built like a brick (almost as heavy as one, which I don't mind). The only concern I have is the connector, as I've already mentioned in my previous post.

Good luck guys with the delivery.

Yeah D.U., I had already planned on putting a full-time 510-510 shorty adaptor from Cisco's site into the Darwin, just so I don't have to deal with the thread issue, which has been discussed before.

Just discovered something about the "blown" atty/carto situation. Was switching out a carto and it had the same symptom as I described before (12V showing and atty not firing). I immediately though... uh oh, another carto gone... then I unscrewed it and screwed it in again and the thing worked fine. I do think it has to do with the "bad" connector where proper contact is not being made. Taking out the cargo and pressing the firing button results in the same symptom.

Can some other Darwin users please tell me about the connector on their units? Is it really tight like mine where trying to screw in a cargo take significant effort and it goes in only about 1/3 of the way? If not, then I think I have a defective connector.

Ahhh... So, there is an issue with connector threads. The only problem for me is that Drew mistakenly sent me something other than the 510-510 adaptor... ugh...

Yeah, I don't think they're blown, I think the connector's center pin isn't making contact.

You're probably right. Given that I can only screw in about 1/3 of the way, center pin isn't making contact in some cases. I also mentioned before about how the center pin appears to be rather loose, shifting position when I rotate the connection from on-off positions. I'm sure this too has something to do with what I'm seeing... I know that Drew is on a business trip, so I guess I'll have to wait.

Many times, you can pull the pin out a little bit and make sure it is straight also. I have heard the threads are tight and that users are always worried about cross-threading into the soft brass. Thats why I planned on screwing an adaptor into it and leaving it. I imagine the one Drew sends will be a long one, I am going to use this one.510 modders connector - Avid Vaper

Ok so first off as everyone states this thing seems bombproof....really solid. I am vaping a KR 808 carto, my personal fave, and at 10 watts I am getting the best hits ever. After almost 2 years of vaping I may have found Nirvana. I thought my XHaler was good....this thing is in a different league. Its only been a few minutes but I am truly amazed thus far. Throat hit and vapor production is top notch. So far I couldnt be happier. Cant wait til you guys & gals get yours.

Ok some pics......this thing is so damn solid.......feels like if I dropped it on a tile floor the tiles would be in trouble! IMG_1015.jpgIMG_1016.jpgIMG_1017.jpg

The consistency of each hit is truly amazing. This is hwta I was hoping for after all the reviews and it does not disappoint. Just awesome.
