Well, I guess that I wouldn't be totally screwed if I ran out of power. I do have my ego batteries and an LR 306 lying around but that would be a dire situation

Well I was bored and decided to take a pic of that backup so everyone can

Alrighty then...did some good ol ECF research and found that:

***1 my crazy atty is actually dead...no ohm reading on display (0.0) and

***2 my other atty just needed some TLC. I just used Highpings Resurrection method and it's a go.. ALSO...this atty takes about 9 drops of juice!!!! (i bielieve it's a 901?? it's tall, same circumference as 808 and has one hole).

Thanx 4 quick replies of assistance (esp. Krisb)

GWW one of the best tools to have is a multimeter. This way you can check any atty/carto. The 901 is a large atty and yes it does require a lot of juice. Sort of like gassing up a Escalade. Happy vapes

Speaking of 901s... I have an LR that consistently turns the Darwin OFF. Screen goes poof! What's THAT all about?

Also, does anyone know where to get dieletric grease for the Darwin arm which now seems to lock up in the totally upright open, and totally closed positions?

Tight arm on the D'win. Loose door on the Mini. What's a girl to do...

Kat, an auto parts store might have it. It looks like small quantities are cheap on Evilbay.

My arm used to kind of go "snick" in the fully extended position. It was a good snick, it reminded me of a "something-precision-in-there" sound. It no longer does it, but I rarely extend the arm straight out.

Hey we have similar problems lol

The stiff Darwin arm is something that's been happenin lately, when it's locked it's locked and it's unhappy about moving again. I don't know the solution, but hopefiluy someone here does

As far as the screen going poof, mine has a line go through and then poof also. I was told it's a protection shut off when there's a short in the circuit. I haven't had it happen with an atty yet, but it really doesnt like a couple of my extensions, and shorts right out.

Extensions are very easy to short if you tighten a atty/or carto too tight repetitively.
Don't ask how I know.

How do you know?

(sorry, HAD to.)

So, seriously, if you tighten an atty/carto too much, you can actually short the extension? Now I'm wondering if that's what I've done to both (both=only) extensions. Bummer, dude! I will be more careful with the next one(s). Good tip! Perhaps this should be added to the new Darwin sticky.

Evilbay. Too cute, nano!

Like Chinner, mine is not giving me any kind of warm and fuzzy "snick". It is actually locking up to the point it feels like it will break in forcing it either to close down, or open up. I had a carto nearly lose its soggy juicy filler as it came apart from me trying to move the arm! Had to remove the carto, then apply all my girly strength to get the arm open. Chinner, I'll let you know if/when I try the evilbay grease, tho I'm not quite sure where to apply it. There isn't a whole lotta room between the brass and the body... help? anyone?

Yes, with this particular LR 901 I too get that line across before the screen poofs. This atty is fine on other devices, but I am a bit concerned.

These are my very first D'win probs. Guess maybe I'm getting them all out of the way at once. :)

Hugs all around~

Cuse mention something that was safe to use in this thread. I'm too lazy to look for it.

I use this stuff or any equivalent. You can buy it at Home Depot, Lowes, even Autozone and like that. It isn't a lubricant...I said lubricant...hehe:thumbs:, but it is a good, safe alcohol/petrol cleaner with a really low flashpoint (it doesn't go on wet, is what that really means) that won't hurt electronics. If the problem is anything more than old juice buildup, and crud, it won't help. But that's usually the issue.

Will do young lady and as usual keep me posted on your plans. Next trip needs to have CG and SK involved and if it is towards Sept then I bet it would be easier for all. I would say we plan the same Bar since we were such a hit the last time! Be good an thanks again for thinking of me and for your help!
