Since I'm the only D'win family member who is up at your English hour, I'll have to answer the question. Oh how I wish there were Ski, Panky and Cuse, Neb, Krispy, Retird, the ob, Big Bobber, Chornbro and Credo here. And all the others. You guys are going to leave me here, alone? to answer this question?

Yikes. I'll do my best, Arthur. Get all your attys and cartos, and disregard the LRs and the standards. Don't worry about Ohms. Toss them all on the Darwin and you will be very surprised at the resulting vapes! You can put whatever you like on the D'win and it will take care of it. No more worrying about voltage and ohms. Dial up for warmer, dial down for cooler and leave it to the magic that is the D'win. You do not need to necessary put LRs on the Darwin, tho, Arthur. In fact, you might be missing nuances that you never have experienced before if you only use LRs.

How did I do, guys? LOL! Sorry, but it's 2:30am and I'm doing me best!

(Lot of weekend for the Kat~)

You go girl. Nicely done!!!

Got it this morning, vapes absolutely superb. Got a few quarms about build quality, the button is bent up on one end for example, but looking past all of that it is easily the finest vape i've ever had. I just can't seeing me buying another PV, unless it had the Darwin features and shiny looks.

Welcome to the Club and it is nice to be getting some international flavor here in Darwinia. Cheers and happy vapes AH.

The Empire Mod Drip Shield works great! Not a single Leak. Its nice to be able to drop in 4 drops without worry of any leaking at all. The only downside is that its a tight fit to put the arm down. I put a tiny nick in my darwin but very small. The solution is to pull the arm out a tiny bit as you lower it and it wont scratch anything. The only part that its that tight is right at the arm. I have a 510 extender to 901 extender. If I added one more extender the base of the drip shield would lower where the little groove in the darwin is at and would not cause any problems. Im also liking the 901 atomizer. Lots of vapor on it.

I also got my 510 to GoGo adapter. I am waiting for the mail man to get here as Im out of my all day liquid and dont want to fill an entire gocart with my other stuff to try it. Here should be here anytime now and will give an update.

Arthur,
Katdarling is essentially correct, you can throw anything on Darwin and enjoy - adjusting up/down to taste.

I'll try to give you a bit more detail without going uber technical.

There is no getting around Ohms Law. If you are unfamiliar, this is a law of electricity with the 4 components of Ohms, Volts, Amps and Watts. Two of the 4 variables will mathematically dictate the other two. So, if Darwin's lowest possible voltage is 3.6 and you use an LR atty - the ohms of that atty will dictate the lowest watts you can vape. While this is a rudimentary, and over simplified description, I share it to show that LR on darwin (or any device) will limit you to vaping the upper end of watts. For example, if you put a 1.6Ω LR atty/carto on Darwin you will vape at 8.1 watts even if you set Darwin lower. In other words, with this combo - if you set Darwin at 6 watts you will still vape at 8.1

Again, oversimplified but usable for quick estimates: to get an idea of watts you square the volts and then divide by Ωs - so in the above example: 3.6x3.6/1.6=8.1 watts. You can and will get any watts you set Darwin above that lower end but remember that lower end is dictated by Ohms Law and not a limitation of Darwin.

LR attys/cartos are designed to simulate/imitate Higher voltage vaping at lower volts by producing a combination that will vape higher watts. By using standard and higher Ωs attys/cartos, you get access to vaping the lower range of watts as well as the upper range. For example, if you use a 2.5Ωs atty/carto: 3.6x3.6/2.5=5.2 watts (slight rounding up). So, on Darwin you can set and vape anything above 5.2 watts.

If you use a 3Ωs atty/carto: 3.6x3.6/3=4.3 watts - so you can vape all settings above 4.3 (and Darwin's lowest setting is 4.2).

So, you CAN use anything but by using standard and higher Ωs attys/cartos you can vape more of the full range of watts settings.

To go one step further, many feel that watts are watts and many prefer (for example) 8.1 watts using LR attys/cartos at lower voltages (like our first example of 1.6Ω at 3.6 volts). For me personally, I find there is a difference between 8 watts LR and 8 watts at higher Ωs/volts combos. I prefer the 8 watts using higher Ωs/volts combos as (again, for MY personal preferences) I find LR heats up too quickly and can be more harsh. Additionally, I sometimes multi-hit and that really heats up LR and con sometimes give my juices a burnt taste. All juices respond to heat levels differently (like food so I often use the cooking analogy when discussing vape). And, everything vape related is all very subjective so we all end up with our own personal preferences. As you experiment and play, you will find your own preferences/sweet spots for you. You may well find those vary with different juices and/or attys/cartos as each juice and each atty/carto can have their own personality characteristics.

Now, with all of that said, you can now forget it all and just listen to Katdarling - throw anything on darwin and enjoy by changing the setting up/down to your preference. Just realize that LR will limit you to the higher settings in actual vape. I encourage you to really play with the watts settings as you will likely find dimensions of flavors come out at different watts (effectively different heat) settings.

As for your chargers, the 0.5 amp output wire will charge Darwin. Higher outputs will charge it faster. I think the charger Evolv sends (at least here in USA) has 0.8A output. I also have 1A output cord that charges Darwin faster.

Hope something in this post is helpful and I hope you enjoy your Darwin as much as the rest of this group does. After all, there ARE over 7100 posts in this thread in just over 7 months. That averages out to about 1,000 posts per month - means about 33 posts PER DAY on average!!! And that is just in THIS thread - there are several other Darwin threads too.

Happy :vapor:

when the wall chargers plug into the darwin is there any indication on the darwin that it's charging?
If you have the original Evolv charger Harpo, the indicator is subtle. Watch the green light on the AC plug box - it dims slightly when you plug in the mini USB into Darwin. But, in all honesty, I have more than one and use different chargers. they charge each and every time I plug them in so I never even look anymore. As a couple of the early units had some charging issues, I am careful as I insert the mini-usb - not forcing and not being overly delicate either, I just pay attention as I plug it in and then leave it. I charge every night while I sleep. Darwin has smart-charge circuitry (just like a cell phone - same type of batts too) so you can plug it in and not worry about over-charging.

Harpo, unfortunately not. That question has been asked by everyone since they hit the market. Plug it in, give it a couple minutes then look to see if the bar us moving up. I typically use it all day and plug it in while I sleep.

Thank you both for the quick response. One last question. Is there suppose to be play in the mini usb port on the darwin?
