It will have as much play as any cell phone. It won't be completely snug. You should be able to tell if it is charging soon enough though :D

Thanks but I'm talking about the actual port not the cable when I connect it to the port. Mine moves left, right, up and down. It's like the connector on the darwin is floating.

Hopefully my 510-to-808 adapter gets here in the next day or two so I can slap my 808 cartos on the Darwin and not have to worry about changing 808 batteries so frickin' much.
I've tried attys on the Darwin but its too much "work" for me to vape-vape-vape then drip-drip-drip. Cartos I don't have to fill as often.
Attys are GREAT for testing various juices at different volts/watts though, so that's the only time I use them.
And since I'm really lazy, I can buy pre-filled cartos in bulk and ludicrous-vape and pass out before needing to charge the Darwin. ;)

Curios how much battery time everyone is getting. I get a full day into the evening and it starts to get very low before I go to bed. Lets say its a friday though and I vape at work all day then decide to go out without time to recharge I will end up running out. Especially if Im drinking..... Is everyone else really getting through 2 days? Do I just vape to dam much? What attys are you using for the longest battery life?

Also Empire mods Drip shield... Works amazing but its its scratching the Darwin on the side if I close the arm. Trying to figure out a solution. Its also really hard to get into the case with it on. I keep debating on buying a gooseneck but it seems soooo long. Hmmmm. Wonder if they make a super tiny one.

This one is tough since we need to account for juice consumption right?? Many talk about how long they can get off a charge but I get about 1 day. I vape very heavy and go through about 8 - 10 mls a day (11mg/ml). So just like carto/atty mileage expectancy, batt life falls under the same realm. The real gauge for me is mls of juice not hours or days. Therfore at my usage 1 day is awesome. I know I can drain an 18650 in a day and I can bang out 3 14500's so a full day on the Darwin is stellar!!!!

I think part of the the problem was that I was using HV cannon attys at 2.5 and 3.5. I would then in turn crank up the watts which was great but probably not great for my battery life. I have a 1.8 ohm atty I got with my drip shield so I imagine it will last longer now. Thanks for the super quick replies... Also I can charge at work I just have not yet. Maybe I will bring in a mini USB cable with me to do a charge before I leave for the day.

Heliguy, watch the amps. Using LR (especially dual coils = amps hogs) may result in higher amps consumption which will drain battery faster. Raising the watts may, or may not (depending on the atty ohms and watts setting), raise the amps used. Battery life will be subjective relative to variables including how long and how often you press the button and amps consumed (amps consumed is still the deciding factor but that will be a combination of both length and how often you press and the amps being drawn by the Ωs/watts setting). So, what you are getting compared to others is difficult to compare.

The very least hours of useable batt life I have experienced so far is about 15 hours (heaviest vaping days) but I have seen 18 hours on other days (again, subject to the variables mentioned above). Once you see your average batt life, based on YOUR usage, if you are concerned about getting thru a night - just plug in at some point during your day to top off the batt. You can vape while charging so plug in either at work, in the car or at some point during your day for a couple hours and that should get you thru. Or, of course, you can do what I (and others) do - get another DARWIN!! When I run 2 with different juices or attys/cartos, by bedtime neither is below half batt on the gauge (usually both showing 3/4 or better). But, plugging in for an interval or two (depending on how long plugged in) should certainly get you thru the night on a single device.

Some are posting about 2+ days but that certainly is subjective to all of the above. Any battery life will be a function of the drain placed upon it. After trying over 30 devices and most of the batteries (AW IMR being the largest capacity I have used other than Darwin), Darwin far outlasts them all.

Hope something in this is helpful.

Cuse is the one who needs to reply to your gooseneck question. HEY CG! Where are ya?

Also, and I know one of our Darwin owners can put this into understandable terms, with the Darwin battery, it's best to NOT let it drain completely. I don't know or remember the technicalities, but it's been posted somewhere in this little thread (Drew where is my T-shirt, btw?). So, at least for Friday/drinking nites, do charge it at work!

Thanks guys!

I fly rc helis and if its a regular lipo battery they are best to not drain below 80%. Im not sure the exact battery that the darwin uses though. Lipos can start to puff when you start to drain them completely. It might also have a cutoff built into it though that only lets it drain to a certain amount.

Also has anyone opened the Darwin up before? I know it voids the warranty but something inside me really wants to unscrew those big screws on the back!

Yes, it does - way above safety levels. They are lithium polymer cells (similar to cell phone batts).

Yes, it does void the warranty. someone did open one and posted pics in this thread. Finding it might not be easy tho. My guess is you may have to skim over as much as 40 or 50 pages (could be more or less). Have fun. :) I can tell you that about 2/3 is batt, then the circuit board with screen overlaying it and then the elbow (brass continues inside just as far as exposed outside) all neatly and tightly (efficiently) packed inside the double hard anodized case.

There is a pic on google images where someone took it apart. Might be easier than skimming through this thread
