are double coil carto's overkill w/ the Darwin?

Overkill? No such thing :p I quite enjoy the dual-coils on my Darwin (I've been quite hooked on them, lately), but the lower resistance ones really do put a drain on the batt, like ski said. I was getting a couple days between charges using clearos, but only get a little over a day using 1.5 duals. I recommend getting some at 2.0 or 2.5 if you can, you get a lot more room for adjustment on those and they won't kill you batt as fast. Still, plugging it in overnight isn't really a hassle

Only advice/tip I can really offer is just have fun with it! I got my Darwin back in May and it's hardly left my hand since it arrived. Phenomenal piece of kit :2cool:

Whereabouts in NH are you? I have yet to see another vaper here in the Keene area (except for the occasional Super user who still smokes analogs more often than not)

I work in Manchester and have an Apt upstairs during the week and on the weekends I'm in Wolfeboro... I love the Keene area plus it's so close to my dream State Vt. I lived 20min. from Stowe a couple years ago and absolutely fell in love I'd still be living there but, there aren't any damn jobs :(
I bought my Mom a PV, but she still smokes her analogs more often then not. I'm not sure how to get her to fully quit..I guess the pack and a half habit for 35 years is harder to break then I thought.
For me haven't had /craved an analog since I started vaping 3 months ago, but now I'm totally addicted to vaping... I love it :)

Eh, it's hard. Not everybody enjoys vaping as much as smoking and some people just can't be bothered to find the right gear/juice to suit them. I've been trying to convince my step-dad, but haven't had any luck, yet. Hell, I've even got enough spare gear that I could loan him an SD and a bunch of different cartos and juices to try out, but he hasn't taken me up on it

Ah, Manch. Haven't spent much time out there the last few years, but I used to hang out there most weekends. Unfortunately all the places I hung out at are gone, now . . .

Well, I just put in the order for my very own DARWIN !!!!!! Now I cant wait until it arrives :) Thanks for the warning for the nic overdose.... I'll have to get some 0mg juice, right now all my juice is 18mg
I am so psyched right now...Thanks for all the suggestions/ tips/tricks to get me started I'm sure I'll alot more when it arrives.. I'm gonna use my GoCarts to start off with, but I really want to try some new types of carto's... are double coil carto's overkill w/ the Darwin?

Congrats! I had just gotten mine yesterday and gotta say, best PV I own! As far as portability, vapor, ease of use, durability and all that it's great! I panicked because I thought I had scratched mine when it fell between the seats in my car it left a little white scratch. After some use it's gone! I guess it has something to do with the anodized finish or whatever. As far as a vapemate goes, can't really see using it on this one. My other vv will probably end up being my tabletop unit for tanks and stuff and the darwin to take on the go.

I vaped on it all last night and this morning, the battery only went down slightly. Put it on charge for an hour and its been full since. Must be something with the electronics that make the battery last wayy longer than with the same mah , sayy 18650 or whatever.

LOVE THIS DAHHWIN SH:censored:T

Killjoy1 glad you finally joined us after lurker so long. BTW guys (killjoy and upinthecut) I hooked my Dad up with a total Riva set, Boge cartos, Cisco 1.5 306 and 510 atty's, many mls of killer juice and still no go. Tough to hear him weeze when the answer is right there in front of him. BTW he is 72. Not sure how old yours are but maybe it has to do with a fear of technology. I know it was painful trying to talk him through hooking up a flat panel, cable box and blue ray. It was so bad I actually got in the car and drove the 90 miles to do it. That was less time than the hours I spent on the phone as tech support with him. Anyway you can lead the horse to water, even throw him in the lake but he still might not drink.

BTW with talk of Stowe and NH I assume you are both winter lovers too. If so two short months till we see some flurries and three before we can make turns!!!!

Actually, I'm not that much of a winter lover. I tried skiing as a kid and it didn't agree with me . . . but I'm New England born and bred and I need my four distinct seasons :) My dad's in his 50's and recently started snowboarding. He's been hounding me to go with him since last winter and I might take him up on it this year

My stepdad is definitely one of those that doesn't like tech. He doesn't use a computer and fought like hell about getting a cell phone, but eventually did. I think he'd take one look at a Darwin and go "hell no!", which is why I offered him an SD. One of these days I'll get him to at least try a toke or two

She is a thing of beauty!! those drip tips are awesome!!

Yeah, I love that color. I got that one from Nhaler the same order as the cartomator as well as a couple other colors

She's 63 the hard part about it is she asked for the GoGo so I gave her 120 ml of juice VR, Johnson Creek, and Halo all GREAT tobacco flavor's, but to no avail...I'm not giving up though I've heard about this Whole Tobacco Alkaloid liquid and hopfully that will do the trick. Your totally right about the horse not drinking, she is one stubborn lady.
I love the winter, my favorite season for sure... I snowboard my favorite places are Smugglers Notch,Sunday River, and Killington I like to snowmobile too though I sold my baby a couple years ago :( I just love the outdoors I'm trying to put together a kayaking trip w/ my friends on the Great Northern Forest Canoe Trail next year... Just even doing a portion would be awesome...

Ola from the Best Coast... I meant West Coast. Congrats to our new D'win family members from those of us who have never seen snow.

Try out every kind of carto and atty you can get your hands on. It really doesn't matter. Consistently great vapes is what your future holds.

I am a bit jealous hearing about your parental units, btw. Enjoy them, please.

HIGH resistance is not futile.

Had a low battery screen today - turned it off and back on and it went away. Didn't happen again, was full charge.

So far so awesome! Been vapin it all day and battery went down two pixels, still about 30 pixels left ;)
Ya I can definitely see this lasting two days, except for the days I sit in a lot of traffic :D .. how does this batt last so long?

Think of it more like the gas gauge in a car. Some of them stick near the full line and then drop comparatively faster once they start to drop. Others drop fast and then seen to show more milage from the bottom half compared to the top half. My gas gauge is in the later category. I often get to half tank on the gauge with only about 100 miles driven and then get 300+ miles from the gauge's half mark.

Darwin batts are more like the top heavy gauge. It will read full for a long time and then drop faster. So if your batt gauge shows half on the screen, you may be closer to safety cut-off than you might logically think. The gauge is not a directly accurate indicator. Just remember, when the gauge starts to show some depletion - start paying attention to your needs for the remainder of the day.

It IS an amazing batt with amazing charge cycle. How long it lasts is a function of many variables. But, mostly it is the Amps drain. Amp drain will be determined by the attys/carto Ωs you are using combined with the watts setting and, of course, how much you vape. After you have used it for a while you start to get a sense for what the gauge is telling you relative to your use patterns so you will start to get a better feel for if you want to top off charge at some point during your day (like if you are going out on the town and may not have access to a way to charge) or if you want to let it slide (if you know you wil be home where you have access to charging).

Hope this helps you.

I'm stuck out of town this week and wife says a package from Nhaler arrived today. That would be my Darwin stuck in limbo until I return late Friday night. I might have a problem since my lowest nic juice is 24mg and my favorite flavors are all 36mg.:vapor:

Make her charge it for you! At least that way it will be all ready to go when you get back.

Welcome to the club. Also note you might have a bigger problem when you grab that package before your wife :) Happy vapes

Gotcha. (plugs in to charge)

I've been dripping on a 4.4ohm 510 atty at 8.5 watts all day. Which would drain a battery quicker, higher ohm or lower ohm?

killjoy is essentially correct. 4.4Ωs at 8.5 should be pretty low on the Amps and should run a long time ("long" being relative to button time as opposed to overall hours).

I generally run 2.8 to 3.1Ωs at the soft stop (varies on devices but generally around 8.5 watts) and I pull about 1.7 or 1.8 amps. If I put a dual coil 1.4Ω at 8.5 watts it pulls 2.4 amps. Clearly, the lower Ωs at the same watts setting is pulling more amps and would drain the battery comparatively faster. When you combine the amps you are drawing with the button time over the course of the day - that will really dictate how long your battery will last. You can think of it sort of like gas milage in a car: when RPMs go up, gas milage goes down - run at lower RPMs and get more gas milage. Of course, when you are not stepping on the gas (button activation) you aren't using much gas at all (sort of like leaving the darwin "on"/arm up but not hitting the button but this is a lesser example because Darwin screen - by itself - uses almost unmeasurable power).

I can tell you that on a super heavy vaping day the absolute fastest I have ever drained a darwin batt (to cut-off) is 12 hours but this is very rare. 15 to 18 hours is my norm. But, as I said, overall amps drawn is the deciding factor and that is the combo of both the amps being drawn (as shown on your screen from your Ωs/watts setting combo) and the aggregate amount of actual button time.

In reality, I run 2 Darwins so I never drain one in a day anymore and just recharge both at night. :p

Just use it without worrying for a couple of days and see how it goes for YOU on YOUR use. Just keep an eye on the gauge and when you see it starting to drop, consider your plans for the rest of the day and top off if you are concerned about being away from a power source. You can also get the car cig-lighter adapters that have usb ports or use any cell phone car charger that has mini usb. Just remember these are batts similar to cell phones so I'd suggest not starting your car with it plugged in (same with cell phones). Car start can possibly send a surge thru the socket and I just do not trust the cheap car/lighter adapter for that kind of potential surge.

Hope this helps.
