I am a huge fan of IRC, it is a great place to get answers in real time. It is much more interactive than a forum, and is a group discussion. I don't really care about the name, anyone coming in from this forum will not necessarily know about the existence of other channels. Something standardized is best. This thread is so long, it would be nice to have a side-channel just for all the inside jokes going on here. Newbies who honestly want to learn about Darwin may not find a second channel helpful.

However, there are about 80 users on the ECF IRC server right now (late night in USA, midweek), and there are plenty of non-ECF channels. Trivia, politics, Mac, Linux are all there. I am all for standardization, but there are plenty of people playing around on their own channels, many not vape-related at all.

There are hundreds/thousands or IRC servers to play on, but a good bot is really needed. A channel can get flooded with attacks, virii and other unpleasant things. Nothing sucks more than to lose control of your favorite channel!
EDIT:
A lot of info gets repeated in this thread over and over for new people. On IRC it is equally easy to just paste a link to the research monkey thread, instead of feeling like anyone has to type that same stuff live.

Score 2 for Darwin, nano good info.

I like Darwinia, but hey, whatever floats yer boat. :)

By the way, the creators of the Darwin channel said they would have no prob with whatever name we like.

Drew, this is your thread. Any input, suggestions, reprimands? :)

I put a couple drops of Dielectric grease on mine every now and then...I also get a qtip and clean around the arm with Brasso every coupla months on my older one...I am careful not to get any of that in the cup....It makes it look and feel brandy new again.
Drew
Will be picking up some this afternoon. My darwin has been my go to device since day one. thanks

People in eCigForum of Finland don't believe me when I'm saying that there's difference in battery endurance of Darwin when different ohm rate atos are used to get the same w. Seems that some of them think that when same watts are produced, the same amount of battery capacity is used... no matter what is the ohm rate of the resistance. I used ohms law calculator to figure out, that to produce the same W with different ohm, I need less A if the ohm rate is higher and as the battery has certain A-capacity, this affects the battery endurance. Could you explain this in simple way, so that they'd understand it. :)

Not as knowledgable as nebulabot but I will try. Just demonstrate. with a high ohm device I get days with a low ohm device I get hours. Is that what you are asking ?

I can TRY. I am no EE (Electrical Engineer) but I will tell you my understanding - or, better stated, how I look at it in my effort to understand (given my lack of accurate technical detailed knowledge).

I think of mAh as the storage capacity of the battery - a vague analogy might be the fuel tank capacity of your automobile.

I think of Amps draw similar to the RPMs of your automobile engine.

So, using this analogy, when you run the RPMs of your "engine" high, you get less miles (kilometers) per gallon (liter). When you run at lower RPM levels (higher gear = higher Ωs), you get higher MPG/K. So, if you are running at higher Amps (LR attys/cartos) = higher RPMS = lower MPG/K = less miles/kilometers in a single tank full of gas/fuel = less vaping hours from your battery.

Similarly: Lower Amps draw (higher Ωs atty/carto) = lower RPMs = more MPG/K = more miles/kilometers per tank = more vaping hours from a full battery charge.

If you use this very simple Ohms Law calculator: Ohm's Law Calculator
and plug in 1.7Ωs resistance and 10 Watts for Power and then click calculate: you see this combo demands 4.12 volts and 2.42 Amps. Use the same calculator/ click "clear" and then enter again 10 watts for Power and 3 Ωs for Resistance and then calculate and you see this combo demands 5.47 volts and 1.82 Amps.

EDIT: If comparing to Darwin, leave some margin of error for rounding. Darwin is fairly accurate but may not match the numbers exactly.

So, if you are vaping the same 10 watts using 1.7Ω drawing 2.42 amps and you can also vape the same 10 watts using 3Ω drawing 1.82 amps - the lower amps draw is using less of your "fuel"=better gas mileage = more miles/kilometers per gallon = more vaping hours per full batt charge.

To see this on Darwin, put a 1.7Ω atty/carto and set for 10 watts and activate the button = read the Amps number on the screen. Then switch a higher Ωs atty/carto and leave Darwin set for 10 Watts and activate the button and read the Amps. The higher the Amps number on the screen means you will drain the battery faster.

Hope that helps.

This is the easiest way to show your friends.

Why dont you ask them that if you can create the same amount of heat with lower voltage as higher voltage with the exact same amount of power (watts) then why ever use high voltage for ovens and such? Its cuz high voltage gets :censored: done!

If a toyota camry can go 100 miles per hour, then why drive a bmw? Cuz it takes less effort to do the same thing.

Actually thats pretty much how it is around here!!! HAlf the time Im testing different units so I always have something new going on...I also have a fully stocked Vaping Bunker in case the FDA changes their minds!!! There used to be a guy named Kent around, that has the reciprocal facility in a location that I can not disclose at this time;)

Enjoyed your video, Drew. Well done!

So do tell... how do I get my D'win to turn red? ;)

(Ski will prolly say that I should tell it a dirty joke...)

You know KD if the joke does not work the a good hard spank has a tendency to turn things a nice light shade of red :) Nice stuff Drew and I am thinking the last riff on the vid needs to be the nHaler theme music----well until Vapian write te Darwin tune.
