A word about SJ...
he has been privy to the "behind the scenes" goings on...so he is a little more informed then you may be giving him credit for.
I suspected that but without knowing we are only left to assumptions. Anyway, good to hear. Thank you.

Who is actually on "the board" ? I'd like to know exactly who are those that are trying to influence my spending habits.
btw. I'm Glad Jason @ totally wicked isn't on that suppliers list. He's the first guy that's been doing all this testing , Packaging and chip compliance.
Please excuse my rant on US big government and big business. It was not meant towards ECA but just a reference that the attitude does tend to trickle down to small business as well. Even my own. I don't deny it.
I do have a question for ECA though. Why have you not contacted RTV? That group has been trying to form an organization for a while now. Don't you think it might be best to join forces rather than take a sole interest in both the seller and the consumer sides of the coin. The more validated organizations on one side of the fence the more clout any initiative holds. Ideally there would be a trade organization as well as a consumer organization. Do you not agree?
Also there are many who are beginning to manufacture even right here in America...
Many ? Who ?
that will be made public on the ECA website as soon as they are formally appointed once the association as be offically formed... that being said most of the members are on the list in the annoucement letter...however we hope to evetnually replace them with non-business owners...
Many ? Who ?
Is this a traders organisation or not?
If not then what is a bunch of traders getting together for?
I look forward to seeing your ducks when they are in a row![]()
My personal take:
I am not going to condemn them just as they start. I will be following their moves, their set-up, their actions - but I am giving my trust to start out with, we NEED to get acting (desperately) - and well, that takes... some people actualy acting. They did. Kudo's!
I just do want to pass on one observation for now ECA, seeing this observation should be taken along from the start and won't be easy to be integrated later on. And that is: you present yourself as an international group. That's good, that's needed. But your wording does not show that, it's all US-wording. So if you want to be international: act international, make your wording international, and btw assure other nationalities that you will be there when their time of needing help comes also, just like it seems expected or at least wanted that international groups now get in with ECA to help while/because operations on the US-stage are needed. There is also, as soon as possible, some back-work to be done: australia, canada, mexico.... and lots of yet-to-come work outside of the USA (not expecting all those things to actualy be taken up right from the start... but I would want to see intentions, in wording, of being the international group you say you want to be...)
I wish you the best of luck, really hope you can get things going as needed and wanted to reach the goal of getting our e-devices in a good way onto the marketS in many countries.![]()
I am really sorry you feel this way, but i do not try to deny your right to your opinion...you have touched on a lot here and as i can not make any offical statements yet i will try to address some of what you have been asking/saying....
if sale is prohibited in the US it will make it really hard for them to be available to the masses especially to all the people who may not know about ecigs and gain to benefit from vapor....The FDA if so desired can also implement a complete recall of all ecigs currently sold...it might even be considered carrying a drug without a prescription which in turn would greatly impeed the places you would be allowed to vape....just some food for thought....
As far as business practices many have made no bad claims at all right from the gate...others may have but simply due to being uninformed on the right way to go about things...The ECA would help to guide new suppliers through that learning process as well.... and let me just ask...better late then never no? There will also be an application process...and those companies that have had the information and chose to ignore it by making repeated "bad" claims...will most likely find a hard time gaining entry...not to say that they would or would not gain entry....I can not really get into specifics as the rules for entry are still being ironed out....
We hope to work with the FDA not against them....as stated in our announcemnet letter....we do believe this product needs to be regulated, but just maybe not in the category they want to put us in....
We also hope to gain the suport of Right to Vape...as they are a very intrical part of the vaping community and would love thier involvement especially with our new doyouvape.com community! I know that this will take some time as they watch the process and association unfold..... I will bring up to the board maybe having a RTV representative sit in on our board meetings....and working with if they choose one of our committees...
As far as non-profit... I believe I have made a statement regaurding this... the board is in total agreement that we are to be set up as a non-profit! We are looking at NO other options... we are jsut deciding which type of non-profit fits what we are doing the best.
lastly do we want to lobby ...absolutly as stated in the announcement letter... do you want a world where they are marketed recklessly as "not for human consumption"? and you are sneaking them in across the boarders one by one... or would you prefer to know that you can simply go to your easy corner market and pick up supplies from a reputable seller?
Also there are many who are beginning to manufacture even right here in America...
I am not trying to ruffle your feathers ....i am just playing a bit of devils advocate...
All i ask is just let this unfold in its natural corse before you make your offical judgements...
This is not a losing battle. We have a short amount of time, but everything we have in our arson will need to be used.
No need to worry about ruffling my feathers, Nycsublimegirl, I haven't any. But seriously, I am a supporter of many causes and this is a product that I use. I would like to see proper research done and support a group that has me and not my wallet in their best interest.
When I go to your site and click the "What's a Bloog?" button at the top, I'm thinking you might have a different agenda. All that propaganda and unethical marketing that you and the FDA has shown concern about is right there. Might want to get that cleared up before pushing for a group that is trying to abolish these same tactics. Wouldn't it be great if we were focused on funding the research that very well may validate the claims you are making and the pretenses you have been selling your product? Where is any type of age verification? Every ......... covers their ... with an age verification script or pop up, why not you or the other suppliers? I mean, you could very easily script that in or pay your web designer a couple bucks to get a pop up before entering site, right?
This is the first time that I have ever actually read anyone claiming association to the ECA confirming that it will be non-profit. I've tried to keep up, If I missed it I do apologize. That is definitely good news. I can honestly say that i have not seen anything until now that confirmed this.
As for your concern of "recklessly" marketing this stuff as not for human consumption. It won't be intended for people to inhale. I will have never advised them to do so and if they do, well, that's their own prerogative isn't it, I certainly won't market it for that. We would most definitely not have to sneak anything in. We would declare our products honestly for customs. Why would we have to sneak it in? We're going through the legal aspects of this and will pitch it to a manufacturer next week. I wonder if you had a legal consult before using your current marketing scheme for the Bloog? Is it reckless for Wal-Mart to sell paint thinner knowing that some kids out there are huffing it? There are warnings on the can that caution you against misuse. I just want to take advantage of the all the great legal uses these products have marketability for. I'd like to keep demand for them up while we fight the good fight. We can discuss that in another thread if you like.
