The Excitement is Gone!

with all due respect, I disagree,,,,,,

(snip)

and third, because newbies don't need to think quitting IN ANY MANNER, is easy, fast, and without bumps in the road.

Exactly,,,,,,,,and I give you extra commas for it. ;)

I personally twitch a little when people post "OMG! Got my vape and totally quit cigs the FIRST DAY!"

Er, OK, I mean that's wonderful and I'm thrilled for you, but people's mileage is going to vary. A lot. As proved by that survey I saw where not nearly everybody quit in the first month.

At week five, I still had one yesterday. None so far today and it looks like I'm on track for zero today total. Sometimes that urge just becomes overpowering and although WTA helps in that case, it's not 100%. Admittedly I only smoked half the cig and ditched it as I could feel I didn't need it any longer.

So here I am at the beginning of week five still averaging a mathematically-calculated 0.1 cigs per week. Which is down from 350 or more, or about 0.02% of what I was.

I haven't quite quit yet. But that's danged good.

I happen to believe that quitting THIS way is the easiest way,,,,,,,,,,someone else may think quitting with gum is the easiest way,,,,,,,,shouldn't people thinking about quitting have BOTH our opinions to make an informed decision??

Absolutely. If standing on your head and singing works for you, do it and to heck with what anybody else has to say about it. Any method that's legal and works for you is the perfect method.

OK I mean is your forum not mine. Can´t believe everyone reaction toward me. I am not judging the OP at all. And I don´t think that anyone will be able to say something to magically give back the OP the excitement. He isn´t asking for any advice (read again) he is just saying that he "lost" it, and like i said I RESPECT THAT.

No, it's YOUR forum also :) The best part of this forum is helping others, especially those who have "lost their way" in whatever form. The OP just sounds sad, and a little disappointed, to me, and whatever help and encouragement (even if it doesn't sound like he wants it) we can give, is what the spirit of this forum is all about. We get help when we are noobs, then we help others...PIF bebe :)

I also lost the urge to "find that juice" Spent a large amount with almost everything ending up in the trash.
After doing DIY and learning that I suck at that I asked myself why am I hunting "that juice"
Then setteld on 3 basic flavors and that did it for me. As a smoker I only changed because of the cost but stuck to whatever was the cheepest. Now with 3 flavors I am happy.
I do get excited for new gear if I get some hehe.

I find I also lack talent at this. What helped me--I don't know if it'll help you or not--is to determine what I did and didn't like about the juice I bought. It kind of resembled:

* Yuck, that's way too sweet (OK, dislike excessive sweetness).
* Did they just put perfume in this bottle? (OK, dislike perfumey things)
* Like the menthol, hate the tea (OK, menthol good, tea bad)
* That's kind of warm but still too sweet (OK, a little warm flavor is nice)
* That's rich but what's that masquerading as cream? (Rich flavors OK)

Which led me right to menthol, cinnamon, dark chocolate. And strangely, bubble gum and raspberry.

What can I say, when people are this kind and nice it is impossible to continue a discussion! Yes, i guess i would like this forum to be full of GOOD news and happy people with passion to continue this amazing revolution called VAPING.

I think it IS full of happy, excited people,,,,,,,,so there's the occasional one who isn't,,,,,no big deal. I'm not arguing with you,,,,just giving my opinion is all.

Ok another look at the subject. (sorry) I got severe COPD been in the hospital and all the other bad things from smoking for 45 years. Was a 2-3 pack a day man myself. Heck I could go through 2 packs from the time I woke up till I got home and then open another pack or two. I started vaping, (have to look at the banner to find out when). I still am looking for the perfect flavor. I've found about two or three that I can do all day. I will admit it I do light up when I want to but thanks to this forum I'ts not near as often as it use to be. I don't do the DIY thing. (to many bad memories of the old days when i did it myself and lost a lot of brain cells). I'll do anything to stay off the analogs and I WILL SUPPORT AND DEFEND ANY ONE THAT IS WILLING. Yea I've finally come to a time when all my juice taste like............... well puppy poop. But I keep trying. That's all that counts. SUPPORT PEOPLE THAT'S WHY WE ARE ALL HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a little relieved some of the "excitement" has cooled, for me. I've been hot and heavy into this vaping thing for a year. I am FINALLY slowing down on the "What's this? What's this?...Must try! Must have!" syndrome. It's not gone-gone. But it's easing up. Like someone else said...there was no "excitement" with smoking. I simply smoked. When the brand I was using went up in price, I'd switch to the next brand that was cheaper. I always smoked menthol. No excitement at all. The only "thrill" was when hubby might buy a novelty lighter or something for me. Big whoop.

So...vaping has been a huge adventure. Real quick I found out I had no interest in trying a mess of flavors. I wanted menthol...so it was a matter of finding a menthol I could learn to adjust to and embrace. Accomplished that. My big thing for months after that was the toys. Got piles and heaps of them. Then the bottom dropped out financially...and I decided I needed to learn DIY. The juices were costing too much every month. Did that....simple menthol-koolada-touch of peppermint-85/15 PG/VG mix. Very basic, but I really like it. Juice journey has come to an end. As for the toys...finally found some things I really like and a juice delivery system that I can rely on and that I very much like. That mission accomplished.

Now the excitement is in knowing I quit smoking, have nearly conquered the nicotine habit (down to 5mg and dropping), can make my own juice and never have to worry about my supply anymore, am saving money, and have delivery systems that work for me. THAT's excitement. I will likely still buy the occasional new toy...but that's just gravy. The main meal has been served!

And I do still look forward to my mail deliveries. After all...if I ordered it, I need/want it! Next "big" (coff) purchase will be maybe one of those telescopic mechanical mods. I like the idea of no circuit boards to go wonky.....

The reality is that vaping is not for everyone. There are some for whom "nothing works" "everything tastes horrible". In these cases we should try to provide encouragement. If the negative attitude remains it is best to let them head back to cigs-ville and focus help and encouragement were it will do some good. Remember when we started vaping? It wasn't always good for most of us but we stuck with it, with or without encouragement because our attitude was in the right place.

I do not think it really matters if one lost the excitement. As the op I did not like smoking. Feeling the results of 40+ years of smoking is not very plesant. Starting vaping and seeing it can be done was for me very exciting just like the first kiss and all that stuff.
Today I am more pleased then excited.

Perfectly said!

I tip my hat to you in your sucess in dropping down to 5mg. I'm still using 18-24mg in mine to stop the fit.

I've been vaping a little over 2 years now and I found that when the excitement dies down is when the savings start to really rack up. I have my Provari and DIY my own juice which keeps it interesting and recently got my first RBA, a DID, which has really got me excited about vaping again but I no longer have to have every new thing out, which my wife appreciates.
