1 of mine says sent to Chicago and the other 2 say sent to NY. Either works for me, but tracking says 1 of them processed thru 2x for same package and both time says sent to NY....shows different dates and times, so who knows? That is why I said sitting in customs. Where may be a good question?

Not looking at packages may have been true last month, year, whenever, but with the tug of war/bickering (so to speak) between US and China who knows what anyone is actually doing these days. All I know in the end is that most stuff will increase in price so I wanted to get what I wanted before that happens.I checked details on mine, it went way inland. No wonder it took so long to go from FT to a post office.
An amazon China package I have, just a bag of small screws, sat at Chicago just long enough to magically make it by their estimated Monday date. Same as my last FT package. I bet they don't even look at them.
Just an update of the 1 that can't make up its mind.1 of mine says sent to Chicago and the other 2 say sent to NY. Beijing, leaving Beijing to JFK airport in New York
It has left for JFK 3 times now. The date just keeps changing. sigh. LOL
It's only a small order Some glass replacements, pre-wound coils, and 1 tank. Hope the glass is holding up.
At least it is in our country. No clue(except maybe that 1 sightseeing in China) if the others ever got on the plane.......Seems to be how mine is going but with less updates.
USPS sent my Amazon China package to St Louis. They sent it back close to Chicago.
My package showed shipped at FT. China Post (through USPS) said label made waiting for it at the post office. After days of that it said accepted by China Post. It processed through somewhere fast but now it's stuck awaiting again. I hope they're just trying to fill up a plane.
Anyone who gets Chicago ISC make those orders!![]()
Things to know about USPS:
1)All mail goes to a Distribution Center for sorting. If you do not live the place where the DC resides, it may look like it's going out of the way.
2)If there isn't a full load going from the ship area to your area, it will likely go to the nearest alternate center with a direct route to your area.
The alternative would be for it to sit somewhere for a day or more waiting.
Our assigned distribution center is in St. Louis, MO. I am in Illinois. Even if a package is coming from the small town next to us, it will still go to STL first. There is no dedicated truck going to your town/village/city from every other town/village/city. Each PO gets a truck, usually in the early hours, from the DC (more than one, if the normal volume warrants).
My last order went from Chicago to INDIANA before going to STL, but it was in STL on the overnight, and sorted and on the truck for my little burg in the morning.
My friend drove a route from Jacksonville, FL to St. Louis. They made the trip 3 times a week, returning with a load STL to JAX, every other day. When they were on their way back down to FL, a package from FL to me might go to IN, or Kansas City, or wherever would have a truck going to STL the next day. It would get to me quicker than if they waited until that truck got to FL and was reloaded the next day. There is no room for them to hold stuff. What comes in, goes out...
Try to work out sometime how you would do it with minimum trips and maximally full trucks (for fuel efficiency) in the shortest possible time.
That must depend on the area. When i have a package sent through either surepost or smartpost,UPS or Fedex will deliver them direct to my local post office, even though there is a USPS distribution center in my city as well.No one is having UPS or FedEx deliver to the "local post office". Those go right to the distro center, same as your USPS package.
Ok, I'll concede that. In Fedex case, though, it does have to go to one of 25 Fedex hubs to be sorted. That must depend on the area. When i have a package sent through either surepost or smartpost,UPS or Fedex will deliver them direct to my local post office, even though there is a USPS distribution center in my city as well.
"I'm guessing your first example is pulled from your rear."None so blind as those who will not see...
I'm guessing your first example is pulled from your rear. If not, that was an error, and it WAS put on the wrong truck.
ALL of the package companies have hubs where the sorting is done.
If you think FedEx or UPS does it better, pay the extra bucks and do the courier service. That is why they exist!

In my case they go to St. Louis, just like the mail, even if it came from Chicago.
UPS/Fedex can't stop a semi, and dig out one package, even if they go right past my house. Neither can the USPS.
