I've had the understanding that the juice is only good for about a year
Depends on the juice. I've had vendor juices that got really dark and ugly looking after about a year. Those went down the drain. I've had others that still looked and smelled fine after 4 or more years.

I suspect the difference is the flavorings and how those flavorings interact with nicotine.

    No you can't
    Is it bad if your vape juice changes color?
    The good news is that the process has nothing to do with the quality of the e-liquid, but with the ingredients and vaping itself. ... Nicotine is a very reactive substance, and can cause e-liquid to change color either in reaction with other ingredients in the juice, or after being exposed to air, light or heat.Jun 1, 2015

    Yes, some color change is normal (depending on the flavoring). But when a juice that started out light in color turns dark brown or blackish and smells "off", down the drain it goes.

    I'll quit vaping before I'd do any of this but I'm impressed with those of you that are planning.
    Vaping is the one thing that got many of us off a multi-decade smoking habit. I'm not going to speak for anyone else here, but even after 5-1/2 years, I worry that I'd return to smoking if I couldn't vape. That's not an acceptable outcome for me.

    Now at this point, I'm confident that some vape-stuff will get PMTA approval; Juul or something similar. But I'll be damned if I'll pay $4-6 for a pod that contains 0.7 ml of liquid when I can make an entire months worth of liquid myself for less than that.

    Of course there will also be a black market where the price of stuff will be somewhere in between. But the quality of the stuff available there will be a big unknown.

    $494.46 ($0.06 / Ounce) + $300 shipping for the best deal

    The 55 gallon metal drum comes with a standard bung hole so you will need TP.

    Oh, I totally get it. On and off cig smoker for the last 20 years, relatively new to vaping as a replacement. I haven't gotten into DIY juice/coil building and frankly can't expend the upfront capital/time/space to do it. Will I go back to cigs? Hopefully not. It sucks.

    After 9+ years I lost my desire to have a cig long ago. However, I really don't want to be in the position where it's the only alternative so I started stocking up long ago.

    Hopefully, you'll be able to stock up at least a bit. I wish you luck:)

    Exactly. I have fallen off the wagon. I did struggle to get quit again, and that was with all the availability we now enjoy. I will always be a nicotine addict. I didn’t realize that until I started smoking again that last time, but my quit is entirely dependent on vaping.

    I'm not far from your mindset. Do I really want to fart around with unknown odds of finding a flavor I like or just quit? I've mostly leaned toward your view but then I figger if I don't at least try I will regret it later. If the project blows up in my face at least I can say I gave it a go and left no stone unturned.

    It's 5 years for me. Like to think I could never go back but even now I occasionally get an itch. If something stressful happens the thought of a smoke flits across my mind. Nowadays it only lasts a moment but if vaping wasn't there as a backup I don't know what would happen. In any case I'm well stocked up.

    I've come way too close for comfort falling off the wagon to even consider taking the chance I won't if reduced to using pods. I suspect when it's all said and done pods will be as expensive as smoking.
    I think you're right. They're gonna squeeze the hell out of us for pods. And for a product that seems marginal at best.

    Since Big Tobacco seems to have a huge influence on the FDA, the regulations are going to favor using a cigalike or pods. Big Tobacco wins in the long run either way. Either we return to smoking, or use a product favored by Big Tobacco, or stock up well enough to keep vaping at a level that we are accustomed to.

    Returning to smoking is not an option for me.

    I do think pods are a great easy introduction into vaping actually. Personally I'd probably have tried one and just continued smoking. They just aren't the way I want to vape is all.
    The shops around here probably sell 10 pods to new users for every one device/atty beginner setup. Most are just looking for an easier way to quit smoking. Pods offer that in spades.

    Been mixing for several years now. Have a few that are always mixed, have had a few that went down the drain, and a LOT that are "ok" but not mixed again. I guess I'd be disappointed if I was trying to go commercial :)

    @Rossum .....
    Same goes for my gear. I am continuing to buy stuff for my use. At this point I plan to vape until I die, and that might be another 30-40 years...

    Hmmm... I got half that time, so I can do it in one shopping trip.
    Good things about being old are hard to come by so I'll take that one. Thanks.

    @Rossum...

    Snus is so low rent, the feds may ignore it . And if not the Swedes are remarkably ABLE at doing WHATEVER they want to WHATEVER country..... They have ALL the money.

    Worst case, vape mostly and when the WTA freakout comes, GRAB a piece of snus. I'm not kidding. It works.
    ...

    Oh, Anna. Do you use Swedish Snus or that vile poultice they make in the U.S.? The Feds already cracked down on Swedish Snus. Back around 2010, about the same time they jacked up the cig tax, they hit Swedish Snus hard, driving it from fairly inexpensive with zillions of brands, flavors and strengths, to being harder to get and limited in variety. Luckily, I had gone to full time vaping before then and even had some Snus expire before I used it up.

    It's still out there though and anyone thinking of using Snus as a supplement owes it to themselves to find it and buy it if they can afford the extortionate taxes and shipping hurdles. They'll never go near the American stuff again. If vaping is ever impossible for me to do, I'd get the Swedish stuff if I have to go to Europe for it.

    Last time I checked, (and it's been a long time),the feds had see to it that most people only learn of it at a convenience store. But anyone who's used Swedish Snus knows there's so much difference between it and the inferior stuff that they generally specify it to others so as not to inadvertantly lead them down the path of Marlboro Snus or other similar fermented pouches of yuk. The thought of someone using AmeriSnus while thinking it's anything like real Snus frankly makes me sad.
