wow dedmon....you make some amazing finds! Do you spend your days searching the internet?? ;)

I rather like the idea of the usb-connected torch on this unit! Get a few of those and convert them to an atomizer connector of your choice and you'll be able to vape any e-cig that catches your fancy at that moment. :thumb: Brings a whole new concept to "plug and play"! :D

Indeed :)

Just need to check on the max current of output and if this is a protected battery this time..

Unfortunately, the battery is not protected according to a review by a consumer on dealextreme. They go on to say how a PCB battery fits, in the comment.DealExtreme: $19.92 White Light LED Flashlight + Emergency USB Charger with Cell Phone Adapters

According to the full listing in the previous link provided, it to has protection incorporated into the device itself.
Smart protection:4 levels battery energy showing ,charged and charging protection, overload protection, over voltage protection, short circuit protection

But if the 5v out can supply 1A, this will be ok :)

I think I personally am going to pass on this one. If anyone ends up modding this one, I'd love to see it. The dimensions are, 4.02 in x 0.94 in x 0.87 in
I hope that's including the light attachment, regardless. That makes for a long e-cig with the atty and cart attached.

What is the 3 min. epoxy putty you talk about using. I think I need some of that. Don't like hot glue at all.
It's actually 5 minute epoxy, but you have 3 minutes to work with it until it's unmanageable. You can find it at almost any hardware store, such as Lowes, Ace Hardware, etc...

This is one of the brands that I use.
LOCTITE at Lowe's: 2 Oz. Putty Epoxy

Also, should you decide to go with another brand, please be sure there are no additives in the putty that would be conflicting to your mod.

All putties are not made equal. Some have steel, aluminum, copper, and so forth added to reinforce the weld such as these, EpoxyGator.com - Epoxy Putty Repair Sticks

Of Course, using putty with metal additives, is a fast way to short your device.

Thanks DMW.

Hmmm shows how old I am and how long I've been out of the loop. Used Loctite products all my career and didn't know about that.

I probably take something made with that ignorance recipe but I can't remember what's in it. :)
I wouldn't associate that with ignorance, just simply overlooked.:)
Good luck using the putty.

Here are some tips.

Some people are allergic or sensitive to it, so you may want to use latex gloves if you notice tingling in your fingers.

It's sticky, so have a wet sponge next to you to wet your fingers while kneading it, water won't hurt it, it chemically hardens once the 2 compounds are mixed. So even if under water, it will continue to cure.

Work fast! Remember, 3 minutes, sets in 5 and fully cured in 1 hour.
So be prepared.

Also, sometimes you may need to drill extra holes or make indentations on the surfaces you want to adhere to, so the putty has something to grab on to. This is not the case always, but just remember that if you have future problems with it adhering.

Cool, tyia! :)
No problem,.

For those who are concerned about doing this mod for difficulty. I'll do my very best to make this as detailed and simple as possible. Basically, I'm going to try very hard to make sure no one can take advantage of the mod and put them up for sale to those who think they can't do this.

Nice idea; but we all know that most people would rather just shell out ...

Let's see ...

Hands up alll with a NicoStick of some kind ... And now hands up all who have a JStick ...

see what I mean.

Oh, will have a look ...

Expect these on Ebay before the morning ;)
Well, I supose I should get crackin on the tutorial then. Hate to see just one person selling these on ebay.

I suppose I could just make the tutorial with the button I really don't want to use. Although it is probably the most easy for beginners. I don't think I'll show a tutorial with an on/off switch. I really don't think that it's necessary. No one should be transporting their pv's with attys attached to begin with.

What general thread was it. I chose the most promising looking : The light at the end of the stick'

but it was just about the light at the end of the stick :(

literally.

That's funny!
The "is there anything better than the screwdriver?" thread. The whole thread has interesting comments. But it's mainly on the last page.
