Yep.... Inawera "Cherries" tastes like a cherry cough drop. BLEAH BLEAH BLEAH!!!!!!!!! The Lorann Cherry does taste a lot like maraschino cherries, which I can probably work with, in a later iteration of the Code Red flavor I'm working on (the first test bottles were awful; I'm letting them steep one more week, just to make sure, but I don't think they're gonna get a lot better -- both of them taste a bit like camphor of all things!).
But the TFA Cherry Extract, that one seems spot-on; no cough drop ickiness, no maraschino sugary-sweetness. It seems to be exactly the right flavor for the cherry pipe tobacco I'm working on. I tested it after a week's steep, and it's really, really close to what I'm after, though it's a bit more cherry than tobacco; since there are 2 tobacco flavors in it, I thought another week's steep might actually do that a LOT of good, to round it out, let those sweet tobacco flavors really shine. If not, that recipe is close enough to what I want that I think adding just a smidge of one more sweet tobacco flavor, Gold Ducat, will fix it right up.
