Notes: FA Lemon Sicily fades quite quickly
That seems to be common with the lemon flavors for some reason.I have lemon Sicily and Tfa lemon and they both fade out pretty quickly when i use them.I've heard others say some of the other brands do the same thing.

I've noticed that too with lemons. The FW lemonade holds up pretty good though.
I forgot about that one.Capella lemon meringue pie holds the lemon fairly well too.You would think if these companies can make a flavor like that, that will hold up,that they could make a good straight lemon that would hold up.

Good to know about the lemons! That was my next endeavor. The salts will only be mixed to about 9mg nic. So, YeP, it will be an interesting test to see how it does. I hear that it is super smooth, and easy to work with. I like 70vg/30pg. I also have 100mg nic 100%vg.

I have the same two. Have you tried a combo of the two to hold the flavor? I've also got FA's Catalan Cream that in hindsight I should try to see if that helps.

This being a TFA thread, and hitting that 70/30 wall a couple times, I've also got 100mg nic 100%vg. It doesn't get much use these days

Just got some from a rebottler, and it's Black. Is that normal?
Sounds about right. Mine is a deep chocolate brown. It barely lets the light of a flashlight through when held behind the bottle. Remember you are using it in very small quantities (0.5-1.0% per vendorsuggestion/ I use 0.25-0.5%) so it shouldn't have much impact on the overall recipe color; at least it doesn't for me.
    a lemon sugar cookie
That's funny! I finally got of my duff and mixed up eight new (to me) recipes that have been clogging up my "want to try" list. One of them was a simple lemon and biscuit (both INW) mix.

In this latest fit of mixing I also have a more complex pear and biscuit recipe that @MsLoud shared earlier in this thread. While starting to taste these, AND being lazy (I didn't re-wick between flavors ), I think I may have stumbled onto something. I had the lemon/biscuit in a small thank first (on fresh wick), and then moved to the pear/biscuit. (The tank is an Avocado 24 by Geek Vape w/single coil; so the wick has pretty long tails to reach the bottom of the tank.) The lemon biscuit wasn't bad but the lemon was very much faint and in the background (INW at only 1%). I vaped the tank down to where I no longer had any free-flowing juice left in it but did not vape the wick dry (it's a PITA to get it wicking freely again when I do that). I then filled the tank with MsLoud's creation. MAN! Did the lemon pop smack out right in my face!

I don't know if it will help with flavor longevity but it sure made the lemon sing. This is going to require further experimentation. :D
You would think if these companies can make a flavor like that, that will hold up,that they could make a good straight lemon that would hold up.
The only thing I can think of is that the bulk of the "taste" of a real lemon (the fruit) (aside from the sour created by citric acid) is mostly aromatic. These translate as volatiles in our flavor concentrates. Volatile's, by their very nature of being volatile, readily evaporate at room temp. I believe this is why we experience flavor fade relatively quickly with flavors like lemon; especially when they are stored in permeable plastics or excess headspace. Heat and open-top aging are really no-nos with lemon as this will only accelerate fade. Mix..., shake..., and vape... for maximum enjoyment (for me anyway).

Now as to why flavors like lemonade seem to overcome this fading; I have no clue. Unless the volatiles are able to bond with something else in the blend that slows the evaporation. But that is only a wild a** guess.
Have you tried a combo of the two to hold the flavor?
I have Lemon Sicily-FA, Lemon-INW, and Lemon (water soluble)-TFA and have played with all three; as single-flavors and a couple of 2 flavor combinations (TFA/INW, and INW/FA). The combos didn't pan out any gold yet but I only tried one iteration of 50/50 for each of them. Fade longevity didn't improve; still about 9 days tops for my taste buds. My take-away: don't mix more than I will likely vape in a week.

thanks for that detailed reply. I normally have so many mixes made, and only vape less than 10ml a day, so I never worried about anything steeping. My lemon was at least a month steeped. Now I'm vaping it at around 4 days, and it's great. Hopefully I can finish within a week or two period. :thumb:

Damn. New mod..... wish list is almost complete, but still a few days left to add to it :)

Still using my Reuleaux RX200 from last Christmas with the original LG chocolate batteries and still get 2.5 days out of it with moderate vape time. In full disclosure I did have to get an external charger because the batteries drifted too far from each other causing the mod to post imbalance on the screen. However this was after 5 months use of USB only charging.

Anyways sorry to derail but this is one of my main nonsmoking support groups.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays fellow diy-ers!

Not a bad investment. And it should help extend the life of your device too by not exposing the circuit board to the unnecessary heat caused by the internal charging.

No worries. You've been following this thread plenty long enough; when was the last time you saw a serious complaint regarding derailment? And, if this is helping you stay away from the stinkies, "GO FOR IT!" I say... :D

And you as well good Sir!

Be bold. Mix up a 7% of each banana and add about 2% sweetener. How bad could it be?
I'd add a bit of marshmallow or something to add a bit of creaminess to it but if you don't have that just go with what you do have.
    I will try 7% each Banana and 2% Sweetener , I will report soonest , thanks ..

I'm getting lazy these days. Right now I'm vaping Banana Cream on its own, 10%. I like it enough that I never tried adding anything to it. If you haven't tried it on its own you should do that. Even if you go ahead and try adding Ripe or other flavors you should know what it's like straight so you have something to compare back to.

I think I heard someone say that if you add Ripe you should go with a small amount. Like 2%. I searched this thread when I first got the Banana Cream.

After reading your post I think I might try adding some sweetener to my next batch.
what percentage of your PG/VG? Thanks for your reply ..

Banana Ripe is a mean bunny rabbit. It melted a trench in my scale when I didn't clean up a spill.
The best way to use it is to remove the cap, wave it over your mix and then put the cap back on.

I like TFA's regular banana in my mixes.
Please tell me how much TFA's regular banana for single and in mixes .. thanks
