Hubby has a Mosin Nagant. I love the wood on it.

Thanks. I LOVE old military weapons. Part of my lust with AK-47s is the wood furniture. Same with SKS'

Picked up an Aimpoint PRO on a Black Friday sale for cheap. I'm digging it.

Untitled-6.jpg

That's a nice looking AR. How long is the rail? Barrel? Weight? Piston or Direct impingement? What upper?

I had the Aimpoint PRO my AR before my Eotech. My AR is a Colt LE6940P. P for piston. Yeah, yeah, save your breath. I like piston guns; although my NFA ARs are DI. :D

Dude, Aimpoint is just as good and in some ways better than EoTech. AP's battery life on the Patrol Rifle Optic (PRO) is 800 hours at 40% reticle brightness. That's long ....ing time! I now run an EoTech EXPS3-4 (top of the line EoTech; NV compatible)
and a G33 3x mag (the brand new one). A friend that didn't like it and sold the package to me for $600. New it's ~$1050. He used it for 50 rounds.

I love it! But not too much more than the PRO. I put the PRO on my PS90. It was ok, but I couldn't get a good cheek weld and look trough the optic. So I ended up getting the FN brand red dot made specifically for the PS-90.

Image Detail for - PS90 RD from FNH USA

It's an incredibly nice optic and it mounts at the perfect spot. My Mother, who hasn't shot a gun in over 54 years was shredding the 10 ring at 100 yards. She was having an absolute blast. She's in town again now and we're going shooting on Tuesday. I'm excited. I'm going to try to shoot a .45 handgun. Last time she'd only shoot 5.7mm and 9mm. :glare: But I'm proud of her; she didn't grow up around firearms at all.

Jeeze, sorry for the rant.

Spikes 14.5" midlength upper (DI gas system) with a pinned DynaComp to bring it to 16". The Troy Bravo battlerail is 13". It looks heavy, but feels lighter than the standard GI handguard setup that it came with, before I hacked the FSB down into a poorman's low-pro gas block, to fit the rail over it.

At setting 7 (which happens to be what I use it at:D), you the Pro will last 3 years of being turned on 24/7, until you need fresh batteries. It's also NV compatible, so if you happened to leave it on one of those settings, it would last even longer. I don't have any NV, though, so it stays at 7. Any brighter, and the dot loses it's crispness, but I haven't shot in super bright daylight (which is a scarcity this time of year in NY:( ).

I've had Eotech's before, and this is my first Aimpoint. They're both great sights. Can't go wrong with either.

I love 14.5" barrels w/ a pinned flash hider. Looks so clean. That'll probably be my next personal AR build. I have 2 SBR and a suppressor, but I just want a 14.5 pinned for some reason.

And same with the Eotech. I leave it at a button press below 'halfway brightness'. It's much more crisp. The EXPS3-4 is also NV, but I don't have NV, either. I do turn the optic off after every outing, though.

Man, I'm swamped! I've built over 23 ARs in the last 3 days. Most non NFA. 1 8" barrel suppressed 300BLK and 4 10" AR15s, 2 suppressed.

I'd post pics, but part of my trust agreement is no posting pics. Oh well. As I understand it, most trusts don't allow it. People still do it, but most don't have an FFL07 with a SOT/ClasIII rider to lose.

I got lucky and was able to get a DPMS Oracle AR15. I need to get some iron sights for it, any recommendations?

Are you looking for fixed, or folding?

For fixed, I really like Daniel Defense's front/rear set. They can be had for just over $100 for the set. For folding, Troy's are awesome, but a little spendy, at close to $200 for the set.

I know there's cheaper options, but I don't have any personal experience with them, so I can't say one way or the other. Normally, I would recommend Magpul's MBUS, but since the Oracle requires the front sight to sit on a railed gas block, the MBUS aren't recommended. Since they're polymer, and the gas block can get pretty warm, Magpul doesn't recommend the combo.

Thanks for the replies guys. Being the gas block is lower, it makes it a little tougher. I was thinking flip-ups incase I add optics down the road. The Yankee Hill seems decent for the price, but I can't find the rear in stock.

No problem with mix-n-matching, in my opinion.

The one in the picture I posted earlier is wearing a Magpul rear sight and Daniel Defense front sight. Before that, it was a LaRue/Daniel Defense combo.

Also look at Knight's Armament Corp (KAC). They're a little pricier, but they are the most precision iron sights ever, imo.

http://www.battlearmsdevelopment.com/badt1.php

That's the link to KAC. On the page that shows the product there is a link to the store, however.

Troy are quality sights. They also allow for fast target acquisition. The KACs are also quality. But they don't allow super fast acquisition. They favor precision over speed.

Magpul makes a nice set of sights also. Don't discount them because of the price. You could always use a rear Magpul and a front Troy/KAC.

For me, the Troys offered what I need, as I am a dynamic shooter. I do a lot of Kill House training and shooting while moving.

Whatever you do, POST PICS!!!!

EDIT: Gunner beat me to the Magpul rear.

Here's how my range AR sits now. My NFA home defense (8" barrel, SilencerCo suppressor) AR is set up the same. The trust I have for the NFA items has a no picture policy. I'd love to show you guys my real toys, but I enjoy having them. And I have quite a few. ;) So I'm going to follow the rules.

I just took these pics:
Colt piston gun. I don't know the number, but the lower says "M4 for Law Enforcement use only". I do have an SOT manufacture, so maybe that's why. Does anyone know?

Specter Gear SOP 3 Point Tactical Sling
LaRue Urban Grey fore grip
LaRue rail covers
LaRue pistol grip
Bill Rogers Superstoc
Geissele SSA-E trigger
Magpul BAD Lever
Troy rear and front (HK style front)
Surefire Scout M620C with a red filter
Quick release Eotech EXPS3-4 (Night Vision capable)
Quick release Eotech "Slap to Side" G23 3x magnifier

I have a full set of LaRue Urban grey 'furniture'. UDE was a limited color. They may still have some for sale, but I'll let it go for less than retail. All new, in box/bag UDE Grip, foregrip, stock (Magpul CTR), and clips to cover 8" of rail (top, sides and bottom). 8" of rail is a 10" fore end. Everything on mine, plus the stock PM me if you want to buy it.

I'm $2,500 in the rifle. $1k for the rifle, $2,000 in accessories (retail, which I don't pay due to having an FFL/SOT manu). I could sell just the rifle today for $4k if I were an @sshole.

I'm not really in to all-in-one tools, except for field use. I like having individual tools for my work bench and serious work. I do have a fold up punch set and an AR-15 armorer's wrench for field/range use.

I don't have one for my Springfield M1a 16" because I couldn't find one that wasn't uncomfortable to use. I use a Battle Arms Dev BAD-... ambi safety on my SD ARs, so I'm going to give this a try. I'll try to write a review once I've used it a bit. 30 functions in a 9"x3.5" cylindrical tool. Impressive!

BAD-T1:

And a gas cylinder lock that looks like it would work well.

Sorry, just kinda' rambling.

Yes. ^This!

Colt and least a few others marked some of their lowers that way, although it's not legally binding in any way. Anyone can own a LE-only marked lower.

Nice looking bang-stick! Can't ever go wrong with a Colt.

I installed a ZEV Technologies Drop in adjustable (pre and over-travel set screws) Fulcrum Trigger in my Glock 30 today. I also changed out the striker spring to a lower power spring. I've already function checked with live ammo- no light strikes.

Start to finish was 10 minutes. It's so easy that anyone that owns a gun can do it with any mechanical knowledge. The only tricky part is putting the slide release back in. But working it up and down while driving the pin in helped. The spring cups were a pita, but that wasn't a ZEV product. They were the stock spring cups that I re-used (perfectly ok to do- I specifically asked the armorer when I took the Glock Armorer Course)

This is a damn nice trigger. The nicest double action I've ever felt- yes, Glock is DA. Pulling the trigger makes the 'crucifix' (Glock's word for the cross on the end of the trigger bar) pull back the striker ~3-4mm. I didn't change any of the set screws for pre or over travel. Overtravel is already zero. Less than 1mm.
Pre travel is less than factory and MUCH smoother. Perfect for a carry weapon
The red safety on black trigger looks great. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting a trigger kit more than just a disconnector.

I also installed a Titanium firing pin safety and reduced power spring. Less weight and a lighter spring for the nub on the trigger bar that disengages it means a slightly lighter pull. But the main benefit is loosing any gritty feeling. Often that's shat causes some Glocks to have gritty triggers. I wish y'all could feel it.

Every metal part besides the trigger and safety is polished to a mirror shine to reduce friction. I could have done it to the factory trigger bar, but my time vs just buying it worked out to just buy it.

Factory parts. If you want to know what's what let me know. If no one cares, I'm not taking the time.:

Trigger bar is on the right. That metal in the shape of an "S" is the ejector.

It's greasy, so you can't really see the polish:

You can't see the red trigger safety that well in the pics (you can 3 above, top of the pic), but it's nice and bright irl. The trigger and safety are aluminum and anodized, not painted vs. the plastic factory parts. I'm going to get one for my G36 pretty soon. I'm also going to get the Titanium skeletonized ZEV hardened, extended firing pin for both, too.

I made some changes to my AR. You know, to make look more scary with it heat seeking ak-47 bullets.

I used to run a vertical foregrip. I switched to Magpul's new XTM Hand Stop Kit. RAILS & ACCESSORIES - XTM™ Hand Stop Kit
For me, it makes the rifle MUCH more stable and balanced. I had to move my Surefire Scout to the left side of the rail so I could have as much reach as possible. But it actually turned out to be a good move. I can easily turn it on/off with my thumb without loosing too much grip.

It's MSRP is $19.95, but you can find them for $17.50 if you do your due diligence.

Sorry for the shadows.

I also put an extended slide release on my Glock 30. It's a Glock OEM part that they use on their race guns. It's sized perfectly and just enough for me to manipulate it without changing my grip. I love it.

Took less than a minute to install. Anyone can do this. It's one pin. The bottom pin, big one above the trigger. Take note on where the spring leg on the factory installed part is (under the locking block). When putting the pin back in, work the slide stop up and down. If it's your first time taking that pin out, you're going to have to beat the crap out of it. You won't hurt it.

If you want to do this, get a 'gunsmith' tool set (Dvor.com has them for $20 every other week or so-PM me for an invite). It'll have all the punches, hammer (nylon on one side, brass on the other), screwdriver and every bit. And an armorer's block. Throw that away and use a new roll of 2.5" wide painter's tape (blue tape). Put the gun on that for an armorer's block!

Sorry for the novel. On to more pics!

As you can see, the Glock made extended slide release just about 3-4mm longer. Just enough, imo:
