Well, SC may not be looking for lessening laws like TX, but our governor is a CWP holder and is a proponent of open carry.

I love SC, and wish I was still living there. I miss it so much. They're in the process of trying to make it so that any firearms made in SC, are NOT subject to federal law. That would be awesome if they can push it through.

.223 5.56

Anyone reload? I dusted off my reloader for shotgun shells looking for a new one to reload .223 now ? I know it's hard to find but I now have 1k cleaned casings and another 1k once I'm through this case, so I think it's time to learn.

From my phone

I reload everything I shoot. Its the only affordable way IMO. I just started reloading .223 since I was able to score an AR. Problem is finding components right now. I had to drive an hour just to get small rifle primers. Bullets and brass are on backorder everywhere I've looked.

Now that Obama has unveiled his plans on gun control, I have to admit... I havent seen anything I dont full disagree with.

The ban would likely parallel the one signed into law in New York yesterday: there, any rifle with even one militarized feature, like a pistol grip or a flash suppressor, is now now illegal
Ok, so this one....eh... So a rifle cant have pistol grips. At least I can keep my rifle.

No armor piercing rounds? Im good with that. To me (and this is just my opinion) the average Joe Schmo has no need for them.

The White House did not specifically mention whether high-capacity pistols would be affected.
I think they should have added "yet" on this one. If hi cap mags for pistols are unaffected, Im still ok with it (but I understand that many will not be. But I dont own a "modern sporting rifle" so I really have no say on that one).

Universal background checks... This probably shouldve happened a long time ago.

The other items addressed I think will be an expensive undertaking ($4+ Billion), and may end up being a serious pain the .... when it comes to purchasing a new firearm, but may actually help.

And dont think Im looking at it with a naive eye. I understand that bad people will still find a way to get their hands on firearms through illegal methods. I dont agree with a LARGE portion of what Obama has done during his administration. But SO FAR, I think that what is on the table will be effective and will help curb at least SOME violent crimes in this country.

Mental health care and intervention would go farther to curb the violence. Since we made it illegal to commit someone against their will before they committed a crime we have a huge upswing in violence and homeless people. :2c: When we lived in the city, a neighbor was running door to door warning everyone that his wife was home, walking the streets in her nighty, carrying a hatchet. She had been part of the mandatory release as she did not wish to be locked up. Yes, she was dangerous. But there she was, out there.

I fully disagree, 150%, with anything like the pres is proposing, and you, as a gun owner, should too. Up until now, the "hunting crowd" in NY hasn't really cared about the attack on "evil looking rifles", since they feel that it wouldn't effect them. They didn't have AR's or things like that, so they had a "Well, it won't effect me" attitude about it. Now, they're seeing the error of their ways. NY's new ban isn't just about "militarized rifles". It effects every gun owner in NY. They're attacking semi-autos, not just AR style rifles.

It's a very slippery slope. You give them an inch, they will take a mile, guaranteed. I can already see it in your wording, by you saying "So a rifle cant have pistol grips. At least I can keep my rifle". I'm sorry, but that is a poor outlook to have, on an attack of our 2nd Amendment rights. Do you really think that banning pistol grips and flash suppressors and other features like that is going to save lives or prevent shootings? It's not. All it does is effect law-abiding gun owners.

Also, if they say they want to mimic NY's new ban, then they will effect hi-cap (which are really "standard-cap") pistol mags. Now, in NY, they've essentially banned most semi-auto pistols. They were smart about it, though. They didn't come right out and say "Pistols are banned", because they know they couldn't get away with that, due to the Heller case in DC. But by saying "You now have a 7 round limit", they've essentially done the same thing, because no one makes 7 round mags for the vast majority of pistols.

If we keep letting them chip away at our rights, then sooner or later, they're going to come for your non-pistol-gripped rifles, too.

Politicians are completely ignoring the mental health issue, and instead, attacking the tools used in these tragedies. It's sickening.
