Has anyone tried building this with cotton wicks? Will it work for this atty? Thanks!

I'm using a micro coil and cotton wick and it works great. Rene 41 wire wrapped on a 1.5mm screw driver at .8 ohms....9 wraps...

Flavor is great and it vapes well, also the immortalizer seems to hold a fair amount of juice so I'm not having to drip often...

Picked one up. Set it up as follows..

Micro coil at 1.4mm inner diameter, 10 wraps 0.32mm Kanthal at 0.9 ohms:

Test fire (photo appears dark since I had to adjust the camera to focus on the coil. Normal settings caused the image to be over-exposed making the area where the coil is a mass of glowing orange light):

Happy with how it glows from the center out, I trimmed the ends and inserted my cotton wick:

I usually set my coils at 0.9ohms with my mech and I find with the Immortalizer, the vape is a lot warmer than I am used to. It's not a bad thing (to me), it's just something new. It's warmer than my Nimbus and ERA for sure.

I find the draw to be right on even with the sleeves completely closed. I find airy draws give me gas so this one is perfect. :D

Throat hit is pretty good. It's pretty strong, but it isn't harsh. Vapor production is ok. I'm not too deep into sub-ohm territory and I'm only using a single coil. With the same build on my Nimbus, I find the Immortalizer produces denser clouds.

Flavor-wise, I find that it performs well on my minty juices. However, for whatever reason, I get a bland ceramic taste on my favorite Blueberry flavor. I've experimented with various coil heights (now sitting about 1mm over the air holes) and still getting the same results. Maybe the deck needs to be broken in. I'll keep vaping a few days on it to see how it goes.

Overall I am happy with this atty. I'd recommend this to anyone out for a good dripper. :) It vapes well, and at least to me, it looks good too!

Now for some interesting tid-bits from Chief Vapers Pat...

The "water marks" on the aluminum sleeve is a protective coating to prevent the aluminum from corroding on some juice flavors.

The atomizer actually has an air-flow control feature built in. There are two ways to control the drag:
1. The height of the coil above the holes will affect the tightness of the drag and the flavor of the vape. More clearance between the coil and the deck will result to a looser drag but less flavor. Moving the coil closer will increase flavor but tighten the drag.
2. The outer sleeve and the top-cap can be adjusted to increase or decrease drag. Closing them both off completely will tighten the drag. To loosen the drag, unscrew the top cap then loosen the outer sleeve until there is about 1.5-2.5mm clearance from the bottom. Lock the outer sleeve in place by screwing on and tightening the top-cap.

There was a reason apparently for the reverse threaded outer sleeve.

Now as far as leaking goes, with the outer sleeve completely closed, I get none. The way I see it, excess juice drips into the holes and gets stuck between the outer and inner sleeve. When you take a drag, it gets sucked back up to the coil. Leaking starts when you loosen the outer sleeves. It may be an issue for some who want to get a looser drag, but for me it's a non-issue since I'm happy with how it feels with both sleeves closed.

Cheers!

Anyone have one of these yet? I have one that should be coming in the mail today. I was wondering if any current Immortalizer owners have any cool tips or tricks for setting this thing up. Later today or tomorrow I will post some picks of my setup for it. From all that I have heard the unique airflow in this dripper creates a really top notch flavor, I can't wait to try it out. I can't decide whether I will try mesh, cotton, or silica first.

Yea, Try not to lose the damn screws!

LOL. Got that right. :D But hey, at least, finally, we got that ad off the bottom.

(I thought fl0Od was gonna be blowing "O's" for all eternity.)

BTW, without further ado, the cliche thread question…

Anybody have a line on replacement ceramics for this Immo? All seem to be o/s on this item.

Happy Holidays. Good Luck.

I'm with Mac ^ on the need for ceramic replacements for the IMM. I would prefer the ones with the single oblong hole.
Untill then I use a dual vertical coil placed directly over the airholes.
This reads just over 1 ohm. Great flavor!! Clouds are so so

Nice image! Neat trick. Ditto on the air holes. If I could find more bases I'd be runnin' for that handy Dremel of mine. However…

The past few weeks I've been ratcheting up builds for the Protank really workin' the torsion wind and I started doing some good tension winds on high-turn ribbon coils for the Immo. Before on 6/7, .5x.1 at 2mm I was running upwards of 1.6Ω to 1.8, depending on the tightness of my install. Past two with torsion and really tight install more like 1.4Ω and the clouds are coming P. The next 5/6 trials, I have several Immo's, should hopefully put me in the 1.1-1.2 zone which is likely where I want to be power wise. Here's a few snaps…

IMG_0567a.jpg IMG_0613a.jpg

Because torsion's inducing metal memory I am pretty much maintaining a contact coil "effect" with these winds. I believe this is really boosting both flavor and vapor. Certainly not the kind I get from a Trident or Helios on a single. But comparable to the formidable vapor I'm seeing from The Forge with its variable airflow. Better when I open these honeys up. I was a bit forlorn until I got it there. And I'm heading down your way on resistance. But I really hate to give up the 6/7 wind concerned about what the loss of surface area may do to flavor. Don't want to sacrifice one for the other. And this is built as tight as it can go at this time.

Great pic. Thanks.

Merry Christmas. Good luck.

Aren't they available in the shop (online/offline) you bought the atty from? I'm in the Philippines (where the Immortalizer was made) and I the shops that sell this atty also carry both versions of the ceramic base. I think they call the ceramic base with the single, elongated hole the "Cyclops".

True that. They have been available. But every Immo source I know is out of the bases. A couple have the bases and mounting blocks. These are expensive. e30ernest I'm curious, what is the supply situation for bases alone there in the Philippines?

Merry Christmas. Good luck.

What is the difference between torsion winding and tension winding? Are you twisting the wire as you coil it?

One and the same, spaceman, one and the same. Good morning. I just hate to repeat myself.

But I'm kinda freakin' this morning (to the good side). 'Cause I'm really likin' what tension wind is doing to my ribbon coils for the Immo. And where I was having problems fixing difficult to correct overlaps with torching, not messin' with 'em now. I wick the things. Let 'em spring back into position, BAM, contact. Pulse. 3-2-1-IGNITION! We have a launch Houston.

Happy Holidays. Good luck.

:)
