Hi Andria,

Here you go:

Thanks!! I will study up on that, for sure. Also, just ordered another T3S, and an extra coil... so in a couple days I'll have the "just in case" covered, and a new one to use while I take care of the one I have. :thumb:

Thx bunches!!!
Andria

Your math assumes that running lithium batteries down all the way doesn't adversely affect the total number of useful hours a battery will provide over its lifetime. That is not correct. This article, Battery University -> How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries, explains why. Click through to see a chart comparing battery life at different depths of discharge.
Similar to a mechanical device that wears out faster with heavy use, so also does the depth of discharge (DoD) determine the cycle count. The shorter the discharge (low DoD), the longer the battery will last. If at all possible, avoid full discharges and charge the battery more often between uses. Partial discharge on Li-ion is fine; there is no memory and the battery does not need periodic full discharge cycles to prolong life, other than to calibrate the fuel gauge on a smart battery once in a while.

Charging a battery unattended is not safe, period. Things can go extremely badly south much, much faster than what you might think. The cost of purchasing another battery or two so it is not necessary to charge unattended is trivially cheap insurance for your house not burning down.

When I first started vaping one of my Joye brand Twists melted its Joye brand charger. Thankfully, I was only a few feet away so I caught the problem quickly. Also, the battery was on top of a Lipo bag in a large glass ashtray so there was no damage aside from the battery and charger. The partially melted charger was easily more than hot enough to start a fire.

I slip any batteries with the charger inside the Lipo bag if I leave the room for any longer than a couple of minutes. I never charge if I'm sleeping or going outside the house.

Hmmm... well god forbid an actual fire... had an *almost* fire in a mobile home in '95, from which I'm STILL recovering from PTSD. Given all that, and all the above about battery life, until I can get another (an express kit this time for sure), I could just let it get small charges anytime it's not actually in my hand.

Oh, and I've been meaning to ask... since this thing will work in a "pass-thru" mode, is there a car charger or adapter for it? I could leave it plugged in when I'm in the truck, since the distance from seat to plug is so short.

Thx!
Andria

Laptops, cell phones and rechargeable cameras all have these same kind of batteries and the charging risk are similar. I don't charge my devices on top of my emergency fuel supply but I do allow them to charge at night while I sleep with a working smoke detector right above my charging area.

If you are really worried about it you can get a flame proof charging bag or you could do something like take a large coffee can and fill it with 6 inches of sand. Put a coffee cup in the center of the can and let your device charge in the cup. Even if it did flame up it would be safely contained.

For your car you can use a USB adapter. That, I definitely wouldn't leave charging unattended.

Maybe so, but it would probably still give me a heart attack. :D

I'll just let it get small charges anytime I'm not actually holding it. And, my computer is *right* here beside the monitor, so I could use the front USB port, it's like a foot from my hand, so I could do the pass-thru using that. Until I'm more than 4 days smoke-free, I'm not letting this thing get too far from my reach! :D

Well, if it did go south (very unlikely) I would rather have it in a can of sand than in my hand

You can put those stinkies down forever! You have a solid device and a good support network here on ECF. You never need to smoke another cigarette again in your life!

It does feel that way. I've tried quitting in various ways 4 times before, and by the 4th day, I can tell you (and I'm sure y'all already know!!), I would be climbing the walls. Naturally sometimes the thought does cross my mind... and I just let it keep on going, out the other side! :thumb:

Speed, I started reading your post with all good hopes that the tumble didn't affect your V3. Whew! Good news!

But, did you REALLY pick up the drip tip and then vape from it?? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! :D

Yes Kat and I smoked cigarettes after dropping them. What can I say but desperate.

But I don't eat hot dogs.

A little dirt won't kill ya. They way everything is sanitized these days I wonder what the young generation's immune systems will be like when they get older....

I'm quite familiar with dirt and mud while spending time in a two bit Asian rice paddy country a life time ago.

This is working out great, while I'm here at the computer -- staying charged to a nice 4.2. So it'll have a good charge when I go in the other room tonight to watch TV. :thumb:

Alisa or anyone with suggestions... I've boiled a bunch of cotton balls. 24 hours later, they're still quite damp. I've been squeezing them and they've been in a colander. Any suggestions to dry them faster?

So I got my first RDA yesterday. The Patriot clone 20 mm from slowtech. I've found this out already:

1) I shouldn't have ordered the pre-made coils -- i don't really like the silica wick vs cotton (though I'm sure it has it's place and will get used).
2) Wrapping a coil is not nearly as difficult as I thought (watching Rip Trippers on YouTube is a fantastic guide).
3) Getting a little piece of cotton to go thru the coil without messing up the coil is a real PITA still.
4) I have no idea if I'm putting the cotton in correctly or if I'm leaving too much in there after I've pulled it thru.

It does fit perfectly on one of my VV V3 with a beauty ring. On my other one, must remove the beauty ring in order to make contact. Still a fan. Trying to decide what flavor to try with the RDA now that it looks like my coil is properly wrapped with decent heat distribution and will work effectively...

Hmm.

Hello, I'm a fairly new member of the vaping community.
This may have been discussed before...are the chargers that come with the itaste vv junk? Mine seem to flash forever, and one of my two didn't recharge overnight. I've resorted to using my iphone's wall adapter. Else-wise I like these babies.
Also, what are folks' fave toppers for these?
