Clearly I need to do something about the suppliers situation. It's annoying quite a lot of people.

I've had a thought, and am going to try something now...

I don't think it needs fixing... just need to make people aware that they can collapse it by clicking the button on the right... I'd never tried that... and it stayed that way the next time I came back after closing all windows!

I much prefer the way they are now to having them all under one thread which you seem to be testing and which greatly confused me as to why Altsmoke had changed their name to Supporting Suppliers...

Yeh, I saw Starlight's post on this too. Can't believe I never realized that

I think that tip should be posted somewhere in the newb forum too.

And I'd also like to see the supplier's listed below all the member forums on the home page too.

:D LOL, Lu, it's true, it's neither a much known feature nor in the least bit obvious. I think it should be posted somewhere for all to see as some "oldies", who perhaps no longer go to the newb forum, may not see it in the newb forum. But where?

PS - When I get email notifications of topic replies, the subject line shows: "e-cigarette-forum.com The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat". Gives me a giggle each time. The reason for it is that "•" is the HTML code for a bullet (the dot).

Maybe a dash instead of a bullet/dot might suggest that the forum is not so much of a load of old bull? ;)

Hands up how many people read the FAQ? (the link in the top nav bar, next to "Blogs")

I'd take a guess that not that many do, as they'll think it's the same ol' FAQ as on most forums (eg, the standard ones) whether it is or not.

Logic might tell us that these sort of forum "tips" should go in the FAQ, but not if nobody's going to read them. What I have seen on some forums is a forum where moderators post these sort of tips, named something like "Tips on using the forum". That way, they're all stickies so to speak, as there are no replies allowed from members, only the moderators can post.

I think people might be more inclined to read a forum of "forum tips" than the FAQ? I know it would mean yet another forum, but it might also help q's like "why can't I enter an URL?" from the newbies?

This whole thread has now totally digressed from the original topic and become quite OT! (maybe I'd best crawl outta this topic now.... lol :D)

While I missed all the hoop-la and quite frankly didn't even realize Kate had been banned,as I have been reading hours and hours of older threads, I would be remiss if I did not mention that as a newbie, Kate was a tremendous help to me.

Many times in my search for information, Kate would search for the appropriate link and post it for me and numerous others without a second thought of the time it took her to find the information.

"It is my opnion" that this forum has lost an incredible asset.

A CLASS Act and a "Sister Act".... ;)

wouldnt the easiest suggestion be to make a section on the front page that just says "suppliers" and then just chuck them all in there????

and stick it at the bottom of the front page too after all the other sections which for me have far greater importance than the suppliers. after all, this is a community e-cig forum not a bleeding shopping mall!

anyway, back on topic!

Kate, will miss you mate but i fully understand your view point on this matter. i wish you all the best for the future and hope to catch up with you on some of the other forums.

I guess not seeing the original post I am completely clueless. But it does seem odd to me that slander would come into play when talking about someone's products. They are indeed a view, an opinion, and I see it all over the web- not just on these forums. There are many sites that have people sounding off about others products. Now I'm not sure if this just relates to sladering the person (saying John Smith is a twit, conman, whatever) or if it relates to a company.

I guess the slander thing has always been a grey area for me. Wouldn't Janty have a case as well as other suppliers due to unhappy people posting " DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCT THEY SUCK" threads?

Sorry if I'm a bit lost in this, while I understand SJ has reasons for doing so I think the whole slander thing is just plain bull**** (not SJ, the law in general).

Kate has and will always be outspoken, it's just who she is and I respect that. Again, not having read the post in question I'm not sure what the hell happened :)

I have to agree - I am confused on what is ok as personal opinion and what would be slander. I mean, some of the threads here seem VERY slanderous and potentially harmful to the vendor - not that I am saying they are not valid opinions.

An example: I was blown away by the recent threads on addiction juice and how quickly it went from "oh my! cheap juice- lets wipe them out of stock" to "this stuff has no nicotine because it has no kick". I mean really - how the heck did they know if there was nic or not. But this is not slander? Saying it had no throat hit is an opinion - saying it has no nic would seem like slander.

I dont know - its very confusing and gives me a headache. All I do know is that I miss Kate - I found her posts to be very informative and fun. And it seems that tempers flew - which happens. But if "slanderous posts" are going to cause issues, then perhaps a much more stern policy should be stated and enforced for everyone. There seems to be an awful lot of negative / potential slanderous posts out there.

I missed the thread in question so do not know the full background to this apart from the comment about someone being a conman. I do feel however that the loss of Kate from the forum is extremely sad. She was a member a lot longer than the person she 'called out', helped far more people, and has always been an enthusiastic member of this forum. I assume that only time will tell who was right? We will see, I just wish she was here to find out too :(
