Right, and I encourage anyone who is unhappy about the way things are run here to tell me, so I can work on improving things.

Really sorry you're going, Kate.

I think she has a good point. If you are not allowing criticism, then what's the point of having any sort of discussion at all? I read your reasoning concerning libel, and they don't make sense to me. I've been suggesting that people use this site at various places and have subsequently seen a lot of people turn up. I am going to stop recommending this board unless criticism is allowed concerning vendors business practices.

There's criticism all over this board... trust me, a lot of it is mine. I think it's more in how you do it. I wasn't kind.

get rid of all the supplier forums from the homepage Joe, its far too imposing for any new member to be faced with over 40 supplier forums on their first visit, stick them in their own fourm. I've heard a few new members say they first thought this forum was for suppliers because of it.
I'm aware that I can click the little button with two arrows to the right of the words "Supporting Suppliers" on the home page, and it will shut/minimise that forum, but maybe not everybody realises they can do that as it's not obvious. I hadn't even opened that Suppliers forum in days, until I saw you say it's now got over 40 forums in it, and I got a bit of a shock to see that the list of sub-forums is now so incredibly long. I just "shut" it again by clicking on those two arrows.

But for those who don't (know how to) shut it, might that be why the Buying and Selling forum now gets fewer views than it did before - and maybe less responses than in the past - because nobody sees it anymore, being the only other forum way down below all those suppliers' forums?

Some of us are supporting members too :). Couldn't the Buying and Selling forum at least go above the Supporting Suppliers forum? Please?

Wow, I have been mulling this little bug over in my head for about a week now, trying to come up with a constructive suggestion for fixing it rather than just whining - I am prone to that on occasion:oops:. I didn't realize people were still posting here in this thread, or that it had become a place to suggest such things (not criticizing here, just noticing;)).

I have to say thanks guys for speaking up, I thought I was the only one annoyed by scrolling through all those subforums to get to the bottom of the page to find the swap section. I also have to say, from a user point of view, it would be nice if the placement of those subforums didn't shift around so much. By this, I mean more like the General List of Suppliers where the suppliers are categorized by country or region, and then retain their place in the list order for all eternity (not exactly eternity, but a good long while). For instance, I just got used to Puresmoker (just a popular supplier to use as a reference, not an ad or endorsement) being third in the lineup. I could scroll down to that section, easily find the third one, and badabing, I could go check stock on a Bada Bing (ok, bad joke but couldn't resist). The lineup has now changed, so now I have to go through the entire list searching for that site's subforum. I don't bother to memorize its new placement, because that will be changing again soon.

Before the server update, there was a link at the top of the page (in that blue bar navigation area) for the General List of Suppliers. Can we have that back? Can the Supporting Suppliers' forums have that same arrangement? It would be nice if I could just click a link like that and be taken to a page that resembles the section of the homepage now dedicated to this. That link would take me here except that each supplier would have his/her website link below their forum link like they do on the homepage. It would also be nice to have the link back up there to get to the more comprehensive General List of Suppliers (I used to spend a lot of time surfing sites from there and it was nice that it opened up a new window so I could easily toggle back and forth between suppliers and ECF). Clicking on the website links in the Supporting supplier section navigates you away from ECF, then I have to open a new tab and navigate back to ECF in that tab - it's just more convenient to have them in separate windows.

Apologies for my VERY loooooooooooong post.:rolleyes:

I was asking about ordering them a couple of weeks back.

SJ says that the agreement with the suppliers is that their order will be randomized monthly. Shame.

I also suggested that there be country flags next to them, I for one don't want to trawl through to find out which are in Europe. I think it would help a lot, but no feedback on that idea so far.

Thanks for that. An interesting (if legalese) read. It'd be nice if there were such precedent in UK law - but as our defamation act stands, an internet service provider could easily be found to be the "publisher".

That said, I'm not too worried about it - I'm just going to delete posts that I deem defamatory, etc, and hope for the best!

Actually, it hardly happens at all on here. Just this one, particularly sad, episode.

Nope, didn't work. I shall try to install something so we can have a country flag next to each supplier. Will that help?

It would be a step in the right direction. I can't say I won't nag some more later, though. It does still take up more than half the length of the homepage and seems to be growing daily (ever watch the Little Shop of Horrors?).
