Quick battery question, I have seen lots of reports saying AW IMR are the only recommended Battery for the "Kick" I guess this is because they are protected !!
Are we saying non protected Battery,s are a big no no !!!

When you look at Batts look at the "C" rating difference when you compare the two, and as fright88 said it is the Amperage Drain. I wouldn't mess with any other Batts accept for the AW, MNKE, Kallies Kustoms,,or Panasonic CGR18650CH when using the Kick, Other Batts just dont compare and if your kick gets kicked by not using an IMR it wont be warranted, just my personal opinion, as Nebs said they are required !!

yeah....IMRs have a C rating of 10, so it would be pretty hard to make 'em fail.

Any Batt can still Vent, even if it is just gasses, like an IMR would do if it vented, the enclosure it is in also has a lot to do with exactly what would happen. Everyone still needs to be very Careful in my opinion. The reason Brandon made the 10W Max is because of the Batts we use and that are required as 10W is about the Max these Batts will handle. For those running the max 10W with say an LR Atty, which some will still do, not me but some will, I would still be careful and not run your Batts as low as possible and pull them and put a new one in before they got to the max discharge rate, just saying, this isnt something to mess with, people need to be aware of what there doing.

Agreed.

The kick has its own built in additional safety features. When the battery gets to 3.2V UNDER-LOAD (3.4-3.6 unloaded = very safe cut-off level) you will get a stutter vape to let you know the kick will stop functioning. If you continue to try to use it, it will cut off completely until it detects a more charged battery. The kick will cut off long before you get to over taxing the battery. The built in short circuit protection/cut-off (detects even possible short between the battery and coil) is also there to protect from overtaxing the battery and also to protect the components of the Kick.

MWA's point is well taken and care is always advisable. I just want people to know that Evolv gave very careful consideration to safety in designing the kick.

the Kicks cutoff is way above the IMR cell's limit. I dont see that being a problem.

what scares me is the amount of beginners that are jumping into mods...

[RANT]
i am a firm believer in understanding the components of equipment and their basic functions before even considering using it.
if you have to ask what kind of batteries to use in a mod, because you dont understand the difference, then you shouldnt be using a MOD in the first place. NO EXCEPTIONS!

The Kick is an amazing tool to be used by those who understand what it does. You dont have to be engineer to use The Kick, but in my opinion, this is not the tool to be used by someone that is just getting into the modding world.

lack of knowledge in safety is what leads to catastrophic failure.

At the very least, have a sit-down with someone that already knows how to use the mod, and have them go through the Do's & Dont's of it. If that person is honest with you, they should tell you if you are ready to get into mods.

It scares me how many people have come up to me, asking where i got my mod, and where they can have what i have, and then get offended when i tell them to just get an eGo.

I hope no one takes offense to my rant.:|

Why over complicate the issue. When you order your Kick from David, just be sure to inclued two or three AW IMR18490,s or AW IMR18350,s whichever is appropriate for the Precise Plus model you are putting it in. Not putting it in a Precise Plus you may say?! Then, shame on you.:2cool:

Not over complicating just stating the facts, there all IMR that I listed and Evolv states to use an IMR, not necassarily an AW but IMR, Me = AW all the way !

I've got my "P" and AW's it's the others that I worry about, especially those who will try experimenting :) you know there out there ! I just want them to be safe man :) but I agree, get the AW all the way.

Super T have not got the AW 18350s in Stock, hence the questions regarding alternative Battery :)

I believe BDL makes one, but if it where me I would NOT waste my money on a BDL they suck,( My personal opinion after testing some of them ) I would wait for the AW's and I think he's got em or will. we've all waited this long for the Kick so what's a bit more for the right Batts? get the AW !

Orings will be included with your Kick for fitment to the P+18500 top cap and one additional thin oring for the bottom of your battery tube will also be included for use in the PrecisePlus 18500.

Thanks David, do you have or does anyone know where to get the red o-rings without buying 100. I think a little red line along with the red peaking through the vent slots would look coool :)

See video below for details on placing the O-rings:

So you will be shiping my Percise+ 18650 set up for the AW 2600 mah protected battery. I assume that all I will need to do is drop in a AW 18490 IMR and place the Kick on top and I will be good to go?

AW IMR 18350's are out of stock industry wide as the manufacturer is out of stock. AW will be shipping them out to Super T on Friday, so we should have them the following week sometime.
