I always find that coils 28 gauge or thinner give me muted, dry vapor that makes me feel parched after a few hits. I like it warm and moist. My sweet spot with the Lemo is just like with the Orchid, 24 gauge kanthal. With my 50/50 juices in the Lemo, 10 wraps around a 1/8" bit for about 1 ohm at 28W is pure bliss.

After seeing liquid coming out of the air holes. I decided to try and close the air flow as much as possible. In addition to it being insanely hard to get air flow, I actually got some vapor coming out. Could I have had it open too much so that vapor wasn't burning? I'm so irrated and annoyed that it's not working flawlessly out of the box.

The Lemo is not your problem. The factory coil is too beefy to use with your current mod. @11 watts, the factory coil is barely getting warm. You need more wattage, or a smaller wire for your coil. You're not getting enough heat from lack of power.

The Lemo, with the wick / coil out of the box, needs at least a 20 watt mod, with 30+ watts being even better. You're trying to heat a very beefy coil with insufficient power. It just won't work.

Re-coil with 30 gauge kanthal and see how it works for you.

Ok, so I understand and agree about the stock lemo coil being too beefy for my 11watt mod and I need to make a new one. I only have 32 gauge wire and I'm wondering what ohm should I be shooting for? What difference could I potentially see if I make a 1.5 vs 2.5, will I see faster battery/juice drain with one over the other?

In terms of making the coil and figuring resistance, I understand the diameter of the screwdriver or utensil I'm wrapping around, it's thickness, coupled with the number of wraps will change my overall resistance. Will the length of the "feet", the wire coming off each side of the coil affect the resistance as well? I notice that part of the wire doesn't glow red but I can see how it may still be a factor. If the feet do play a part, I'm wondering if I should be wrapping the wire around the screw or inside the hole and screw down on it. Remember it's 32 gauge. As the difference of these two ways can add or subtract the length of the wire and may affect the overall resistance for better or worse.

(FWIW, all my ejuice is 50/50, unless I'm using The Virus by Nicoticket, then its 65/35 PG/VG)

The "feet" are generally called legs and do affect the overall ohmage. Check out this website to dial in your coil. Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators
I'm fairly new to the rebuildable game too and tools like that site really help.

Without knowing the diameter of what I'm wrapping the coils around, the steam engine doesn't help. I Googled the diameter of a toothpick, found its 1/16 inch aka 1.588mm, plugged that info into steam engine, along with my 32 gauge wire and target resistance of 2.0. Says 6 wraps, and when it's all said and done - I'm getting 3.1. I need a break.

I come to the mighty Lemo thread with a problem.

I recently switched to using a 80VG juice (MBV's Caramel Coffee, best juice to gunk up your coils) thinking that my Lemo Drop would handle it. Well, before this I was using a 50/50 blend and I would see bubbles coming out of the juice channels every now & then, indicating proper juice feed into the wick. Never had a dry hit.

The same is not happening with this new, thicker juice. I have to force-prime it by blocking off the airholes and dry pulling, but still I get dry hits. I am running a 28G 3mm ID @ 1.3 ohm spaced coil. The wicking method I have been following is this one and it has worked wonderfully up until I changed juices.

If anyone could give me a but of insight as to what could be causing this, I'd be very thankful.

I have the same problem with the Lemo and my 70%vg juice. I suppose the juice is too thick to adequately saturate the wick, but I'm not positive. I recently purchased some 50/50 juice to test the theory, but haven't gotten around to doing it. I know I've seen others use a higher VG juice in theirs without problems, but I get the same thing you're getting when using my dripper juice.

If my two "mods" are the vv 3.0 and VTR each able to put out 11 and 15 watts respectively. What coil resistance should I be shooting for to put inside my Lemo? Is there a safe range on each of these devices that I should be informed on, like 1.5-2.5 for example? I know 1.0 is too low, what minimum (and maximum) should I be going for?

My opinion ... 1.5-2.0

You can use a chart like this though. Taste is subjective, of course.

With the thicker juice, I'd use a similar coil & wicking; but change the coil
to a 2.5mm or 3/32" (2.38mm?). I wick mine like the link you shared, using Max VG.
Have you tried your same technique with a 1.0ohm coil?

Could a smaller ID really improve the wicking? I'd think that a larger diameter would allow more juice to get into the coil.

About the 1 ohm coil, I haven't tried it. I like to sit at 1.2-1.3 ohms, because of battery life (iStick 20W).

Need to know how much power you're vaping at to be able to help

Yes. Forgot to add this in my attempt to help.

Sorry, I usually vape it at 14-15W. I'm a mouth-to-lunger, hence the low wattage. Another piece of potentially relevant info, I use japanese organic cotton.

Thanks for the replies!
