into the toilet ? ( 5% ? The stuff is too potent for 5% )
wait ! ... just add some to the banana nut mixture ...Don't throw it out till you STEEEEEEP it lol ...adding the ripe banana at about 1 - 2% to the banana nut bread mixture tones down the butteriness... was what I did to make it better :)

And yes, some mixtures need a week or so for the flavors to marry :D

Heh, I didn't actually toss it... yet. It is strong, and to me, tastes like soap  But, I am giving it the benefit of the doubt. It's gonna be sitting a long while before it goes in my atty again, though. If it does improve significantly, it might have a place in my stores. However, if the taste alters only a little, I have no use for it.

I'm sure you've probably read a couple of my posts that indicate that I am not a patient person. And for this type of endeavor, I have none for flavors that don't have any potential to slap my taste cells, and call me Suzy, lol. I don't believe that a blend should have to steep for a long while in order for it to be vapeable. Now, if it was alright at first, and needed a day or two to settle, then I'm game.

I read something to the effect that ripe banana tastes like runts vs. 'real' banana...your description of 'banana flavor' seems to fit with this. The post I found contrasted this with another TFA banana I believe.

The smell is definitely that of banana runts. The taste, well, perhaps I do just need to try it at much lower %'s. Like 0.5-1% low.

I have made mention of this before, but, TFA Dragonfruit, to me, tastes like banana runts :) Odd, I know. It's actually a pretty good flavor.

From my experience with AVE Gorilla Juice, I believe that it really does take time and steeping to make some Banana flavors taste good, not just vapable.

Ah, but I love Gorilla Juice fresh from the mailbox. I understand that it might take a couple of days to get to my door from mixing, but, even so, it's good to go.

I even enjoy TFA Banana Nut Bread fresh. For me, that's a shake and vape flavor, no time at all needed :)

This is the big difference in our tastes, Levitas. TO ME, the Gorilla Juice only started to taste very good after 5 weeks of vaping it (and hense its aging). Before that, it was always harsh and raw tasting! What a roller coaster ride we are on in DIY! BUT, I do love it.. What a ride to being smokefree

And I'm back! Yet again :D I got my order from Wizard Labs!!! Woo hoo! John took care of me, and he's the man.

So, today, I've 4 flavors I'm sampling. John through in a bottle of pecan, but that will come later. I got some koolada and some smooth as well, so, can't wait to try those. Let's get to it!

As a disclaimer, all of these are 5ml, 10mg, 75VG, with 5% flavoring (for the exception of the Black tea, which also has one drop of koolada). And all flavorings are from TFA. They've all been steeping for a good 20-30 minutes, just perfect! ;)

First up, RY4 Asian: Well well well, look what I've found. It's the flavoring, or something very similar to the flavor I dislike in HHV's Gandalf, and Oompa blends. Yes yes, before the zealous HHV fans come in and tell me, I understand that they're using exotic tobacco extractions etc. etc. Only, this flavor seems more tolerable, to me personally. But I'm telling you, they seem very very similar in taste. I would appreciate it, if someone who has tried this flavoring, as well as HHV's Gandalf, or Oompa, to weigh in. I would like to hear if anyone had similar, or vastly different results. So, unless I'm mistaken, or insane, if you like those two tobaccos from HHV, this might be a flavoring you would enjoy. As for me? I might break out some Smooth, or some Brownie (lol), and play around some more in the future. Moving on.

Next up, Apple Pie. Oh. Oh my. Whoa, this... this is FANTASTIC. I don't recall the last time I've eaten Apple Pie, but this flavor really hits the spot. Sweet, slight spiciness, almost like, well, have you ever had an Apple Pie Shot? Shazzam. Minus the liquor, of course. So, I guess a mixture of Apple Cidery, apple juicy, spicy, holiday cheer, and damn, this is just really good. This flavor is pure win for me. It's sweet, but doesn't taste candy sweet. Definitely dessert sweet. Like Apple Pie shots? Or sweet dessert flavors? Get a bottle, right now.

Alrighty! Gonna be tough to beat the Apple pie, but let's stick with fruit for the moment. Strawberries and Cream: Welp! We've got ourselves a bonafide candy flavor here, to the max. And oh boy! That RY4 Asian is coming out (using the same atty), how terribly exciting! :glare: Not necessarily a bad flavor, per say. Reminds me of just a generic candy strawberry hard candy. Nothing special here, probably not anything I'd remix, to be honest. I will, however, throw some koolada and smooth in it, lol. Just to try it out, as a frankenstein flavor of sorts. Onwards we go!

And lastly, we've Black Tea with 1 drop of koolada: Not too bad. I'm guessing I don't ever wanna go past 1 drop of koolada per 5mls, lol. Yes, I can feel it, and it's actually pretty awesome. It almost feels queer in the lungs, though. A different type of hit, I'll say that much. What does this tea remind me of... well, it's got a hint of lemon in it. I've had some tea juices that tasted earthy, and this one, not so much, which is good. I imagine some sweetener would do this blend justice, and I believe this flavor holds potential! Ah boy, nic-fit coming on... (I usually do two sets of dripping per taste test for each flavor. More so for that Apple Pie!) Yep, I can see myself remixing this one. It does possess a tinge of sweetness, maybe from the lemon? I can this as a love it or hate it flavoring. Me, I'm impartial to it at the moment. I might add some sweetener to it later on tonight.

So anyways, that's what I've got today! Our winner is without a doubt the Apple Pie. As previously mentioned John threw in a sample of Pecan, which I thought to add to the Apple Pie if I felt it was lacking, but, it surely isn't. Really though, it doesn't smell bad, so, I might mix a sample of that sometime soon too. Any suggestions with my new found flavorings? Questions and comments always appreciated, and welcome! :vapor:

I considered sweetening it, but I am holding back for the moment being. Thus far, I have been mowing through this 5ml bottle. Quite literally went through half of it since I mixed it, lol.

I have some of that TFA Ripe Banana, but I haven't tried it yet. Another beta recipe I have been enjoying consists of TFA Banana nut bread, and CAP Chocolate fudge brownie. When fresh, it has this distinct sweet and almost spiciness to it, and it's just awesome to me. But, as it ages, the buttery flavor from the Banana nut bread starts to come out more, and I find it almost overwhelming. I have considered, when this bottle is empty, trying a mixture of the brownie and ripe banana, just to see if it mimics the original beta without the butter flavor.

On that note: I am indeed still on the search for a plain, good ole, delicious milk chocolate flavor, if anyone has any suggestions on that, I'd be grateful :) I have tried TFA Milk Chocolate, LA Chocolate, and of course, CAP Chocolate fudge brownie. The Brownie is really the only one that is true to its taste/name. If I can find a good milk chocolate, it's getting mixed with every fruit I own, lol.

TFA Double Chocolate Clear is an excellent chocolate to add to your arsenal. Ripe Banana you should be mixing like you mix your CFB. 1d/5ml. I personally mix my CFB at 6%, 1-2d/5ml Ripe Banana added to that is tasty. But you're not going to get the full Banana for at least a week of steeping.

OK, got my order :)

I'll stick to the relevant flavors so as to not muddy the waters

These were all mixed into a base of 20% PG, 6% DW and 74% VG, too lazy to calculate final proportions, but I used water + flavor to bring all final nic concentrations to 18 mg, because for me nic does change things so I wanted to keep them all equal, and equal to the AVE mgs that I've used

TPA graham cracker 10%: Initially tasted like kettle corn plus something graham crackerish, the kettle corn thing is calming down as I vape it. I like it. I think this flavor is mostly EM, Acetyl Pyrazine and something else

TPA molasses 5%: I'm loving this stuff. It has a richness and a bite to it I've been looking for, for a long time, and I'm really glad I got this

TPA Banana Nut Bread 5%: At first the banana was overwhelming, now the bready/buttery vibe is starting to come through

First impression on all of them separately was, I really think this flavor is in Bobas/Gorilla Juice to some extent.

I started dripping all of them into my atty after a while, in different proportions just to play. Its interesting, the banana nut when kept minimal ends up giving the mix a very non banana, Boba's vibe to me. When I increase the drops it becomes more like banana and GJ.

I honestly think these three, if I devoted some time to it, would make a perfect BB/GJ clone, maybe not a perfect clone, but certainly good enough that I would never want to buy the original again. There is certainly something missing, and I think its the right tobacco flavor/extract. If I could nail that it would be a good day. I have a long list of potentials sitting in my drawer I'll start playing around with.

The mind job again is, well, these are all PG based. Thing is, wouldn't be hard to score the compounds (EM, AP, TMP, etc whatever they are) in a different solvent (e.g. VG/Water, PGA) if I were a big juice vendor, so I don't think that's necessarily a sign that I/we're mucking down the wrong path.

Anyway, Cyrus Out.

I agree totally! If it is TPA honey it's a masterful blend or low percent though, because that flavor has an unmistakeable stench to it that I love but my woman has banned from the house lol

I'm gonna have to drip the molasses again in a fresh atty because its sweet but unique, can't describe it well yet. Currently I'm too in love with my hodge podge dripping blend

I don't know about TFA Honey, but TFA Tiramisu is the worst smelling flavoring ever. It also tastes like burned coffee at 15%. YUCK!

LOL Yeah I remember when I ordered it. When I opened the mailbox I thought OMG! What the hell did I get. I bet the mailman hated me that day.

I mixed it at 1% and it was very good. I thought it tasted just like a cup of Community Coffee with 1 pack of splenda and some cream.

I love TFA Tiramisu at 5% and a little sweetener. It's a great vape, but at 15%... NOT

Just a minor update on one of the blends I have been playing with.

5 drops (TFA) Black Tea
1 drop Koolada
3 drops (TFA) Smooth
6 drops (TFA) Sweetener

(All drops measured through a 1ml pipette) Edit: 5mls of total liquid

PH%2048082.jpg

Yep, it sort of reminds me of this. Black tea can be a pungent flavor, I believe, to some. It might be better advised to try it at perhaps a lower % to start.

Has anyone else noticed that Koolada seems to have a flavor in it's own sense? Also, Smooth, it smells awfully familiar... ethyl maltol?
