Well one thing I find is vertical coils are my preference. Tried the same juice in a chimney build and traditional vertical. Hands done the vertical brings out more flavor to me.

It's "currently unavailable" :(

AV will be re-stocking tomorrow, per their site.

Mine got here today. Gotta figure this thing out.

As for bottom fed I saw inswva's name on the Marquis list in Chowderhead's thread....I'm watching you buddy! hehe...

lol... yeah, I decided I'd go in for the BF clone before dropping real coin on the authentic. I'd hate to spend $145 on the atty, another $30 or so to have it BF and find out it's not for me.

O.k....take a deep breath. Stop for a minute and vape some pipe tobacco from the Magma...whew!

This was my first dual and first vertical coil build. 28 kanthal, 3.5mm rod, 10 wraps aiming for 1.2 ohm.

Impressions: Machining is gorgeous! The rods didn't quite fit snug in the deck holes. They wobbled a bit. The little tabs on the positive are tiny and since the deck is shiny it's hard to see what I'm doing. One coil heats fine. The other is a bust. First build was not as easy as it was for more experienced builders. I'm taking a short break and take another stab.

I think I'll try 26 ga around the 4mm 11 wraps shooting for a 1.0 ohm dual coil.

26 gauge always tastes better to me and it’s a lot easier to work with. The build rods are not very tight, but if you connect you negative wire first, then the coil rod and coil will sit still. Make sure you pull the negative connection tight around the screw before you tighten it down. Once this is done, slide the coil up or down to center it over the air hole. then wrap the positive lead around the positive post 1 full turn. Again, make sure you pull the slack out of the top lead before you tighten the connection. All you need to do is maintain a little pressure on the coil rod to keep it from sliding out of the slot. Once everything is tight then back the coil rod out of the slot and use it to center the coils. The 26 gauge kanthal wire will also make it a lot easier to slide your cotton thru the coils.

I have built a lot of coils in different devices, this is one of the easiest and cleanest builds I have done to date.

Lots of video reviews of this RDA, most of them show you how to build it during the review.

Thanks for the tips!
I tried two more builds with 26 gauge. As you noted the coil rod Does sit still after connecting the negative. The devil I'm having is capturing the positive on the crown. I can't get them to stay grabbed. I'll be using this on either a rDNA 30 VS or Hana V3 30 watt. I don't want to go too low on the resistance (using the LG H2 30 amp) so I think I may be having too many wraps which make the coil bendy and out of alignment with itself.

I've watched reviews/builds to get me started. I'll definitely take your advice. I think it's also a combination of old eyes and fat fingers.

Thanks again, man!

Unscrew the positive screw enough to be able to wrap the wire around the positive screw. Then run the positive lead down the side of the RDA and hold it with one of your fingers. Take a small screw driver and push the positive lead into the slots. Repeat the process on the other coil and then screw the positive post down tight. The 26 Gauge wire should stay tight on its own once you get it wrapped around the positive post.

Think was doing 9or 10 to wraps of 26 gauge wire on the 2.5 or 3.0 mm wire rod for dual. 3.0mm is easier to push your cotton thru and 7 wraps for a single coil. the RDA puts out a lot of vapor and flavor on a single coil. I have a lot of dual coil setups, but i am trying to go back to single coils an a lower ohms when possible. dual coils are fun, but they eat my juice.

Hot Damn! That worked!

Single vertical coil, 3.0 mm, 26 gauge Kanthal, 7/6 wraps getting 1.07 ohm. Took about a minute to get coil in. Another to load the rayon. Another to admire my accomplishment...hehe

Single air hole with Goodejuice Patriot.

Very good flavor! Thanks again bwhitt! Helped make an old man happy and content!
