The FDA what a JOKE ,, they have killed so many ppl ,, look at all the drugs and other crap they have approved just to find out later that they kill you ,, I really dont want anything FDA approved :glare: just a bunch of power crazy, good for nothing freaks that think they know best ,,

Ain't that the truth, I would never take a chantix for example. With my personality I'd be walking around the mall with a Kentucky fried chicken bucket on my head singing the theme to Laverne and Shirley while doing the macarena and cha cha slide.

The FDA is a far cry from what it's original intent was several decades ago.

My father was a pharmacist and Assoc. Dean of Pharmacy at a major mid-western university with one of the top 5 pharmacy schools in the country. He was there from the late '60's thru the mid-80's and he too became disenchanted with the FDA. He finally realized that it was being controlled by the big pharm companies and warned me then to expect more control of benign substances and the massive releases of psychotropic drugs.

So nothing the FDA does these days surprises me.

What boggles my mind is that the juices we make are made out of all FDA approved ingrediants. Approved as in approved for human consumption.
Then you have anaologs. Which are "FDA approved" yet are filled with chemicals and poisons.
So I guess it's ok if we kill ourselves as long as they approve of it, but they want to stop us from vaping because it might kill us?
I just don't get the logic. I see the BS, just not the logic.
Analogs actually aren't FDA approved. The FDA doesn't have jurisdiction over them. The ATF does

I read somewhere the gov makes on average over $3 per pack in taxes. One of the reasons they're fighting so hard is cause we're in bad shape and they can't take the revenue hit right now. That's what I read anyways. Makes sense. Maybe they should legalize some other stuff and find new streams of revenue?

Its ironic cause they say were such a burden to the HC system.

Everybody who has ever read Kerouac, or Ginsberg, or Thompson, or Hemingway, or any of those guys... City Lights Books, the attack on things considered obscene... this is our watermark, our chance to make a stand. To say something. Do what you can for CASAA.

Please don't get my message wrong. I do not consider vaping as obscene. I'm likening vaping to the struggle for free speech back in the 40's and 50's.

If you don't believe in something, you don't believe in anything.

Sorry mate, but that's rubbish. Please look it up.

Tobacco taxes are supposed to go towards the additional health costs incurred by smokers but sadly, many entities have redirected those funds.

Many go v entities redirecting it to themselves.:D I don't know that for a fact, but I highly doubt its used for its stated purpose. Smoking per capita is at pretty low levels and the public pr campaign has been pretty effective at demonizing smokers. I don't think we have that big of a impact anymore.

Sorry folks - I have nothing to report about the meeting today. I'm still as much in the dark as you all. The directors who presented had a long day and will be comparing notes tomorrow to report to the rest of board. Do not expect much detail about the meeting. Due to a FDA confidentiality agreement (probably more enforced now because of the recent false report of "online bans" coming out of other listening sessions) we will be able to share with you our presentations and "feelings" about how it went, but little more.

That's about all I expected, given what was reported last week by WSJ. It will be interesting to see the case that CASAA put before what I pray are reasonable people.

I've got tabs open all over the place watching for anything.

I hope whoever is in that meeting also watches body language. There are so many things you can tell from just the tiniest thing. Even just looking down if they hear something they don't agree with. So many 'tells' that can be gleaned by observing. I wonder if there are any good poker players in the CASAA board that are there....

I hope Elaine is there. She is ...I think...an attorney. I know people generally hate attornies but they are trained to read body language and so forth. If this is a hearing with a federal agency it seems like there would eventually be a transcript available.

I've always been proud to be an American but I am not proud of America. The decisions our government makes on our "behalf" are so rediculous it's nauseating. They should be working on a way to get traditional cigarettes off the market as we know they're killers. Instead of scrutinizing a product which may arguably save lives. Work on the problem first not the solution.

Then I think about my liberties as a human being. I feel that I should have the right to consume what I wish as long as I am not hurting anyone else. It is not the place of the FDA to decide what I can or cannot partake in.

<snip>

I have to say that this seems a wee bit hypocritical.

I've gotten that twice... I think you people are reading that wrong. First I thought they should try to get cigarettes off the market... then I thought... why try to get anything off the market? It's my choice.

As I clearly stated I should have that right AS LONG AS I AM NOT HURTING ANYONE ELSE. It is a proven fact that cigarettes DO hurt the people around us... so whats hypocritical? You should read more carefully.

I think one of the Board, that is there, is an attorney. It's not an official hearing. They are terming it a Listening Session. Nothing that Requires disclosure. In fact, after that leak, everything is supposed to be :x not disclosed.

But is second hand smoke really that dangerous? Think about it logically. Our grandparents and most of our parents grew up in an age where smoking was allowed EVERYWHERE. The Social Security System is going bankrupt because people are living longer. Hmmm the people that grew up with smoking everywhere are still living longer......

The SHS issue was started by.....you guessed it....ANTZ. Now they are trying to start with Third Hand Smoke. Ridiculous. They just hate the smell. Granted, it does stink, but harmful? No.
