atty, move your first post down so we don't have to scroll up to check on what is being discussed atm.

I just mean... the reference to PVT crew. We may have some people that are not in this sub-forum that are "regulars" so I want to make sure it sounded OK.

As for the posts...open another tab please. I don't want 50 versions to have to read through on this. The current version is post #1.

starry - our main objective is to come up with a message announcing the closing. look at atty's 1st post and tell us what you think. we want it to be succinct but also convey how much we enjoyed it

I just don't think it should be offered out for no one to take it over, I don't know that thought just makes me sad for some reason . Like all we did to appear "abandoned" since no one will join a new crew. I think the post sounds perfect, just not sure about giving people options, this should be a decision here, not left to people who stroll in since it's pretty obvious what the outcome will be.

We could be setting ourselves up for a disappointment. However, if classy is still willing... I'm in the "it doesn't hurt to ask" camp.

I guess, I don't want it to sound like "we're mad, so to heck with any future prevets". I'd rather it be..."we're tired, so anyone else want to try?" If no, then no.

but more to the point, i'm very tired and would stop at the end of the year no matter what or where. in our present location i don't see us finding a new crew. for that reason i posted the statistics.

My heart says it is no one elses.

I don't think it is something that can just be handed over to someone else. It's our hearts and love in it...always has been...it was us.

I would rather see it closed than have someone else possibly trash it or twist it. Does that make sense ?

This may not make much sense (it's been a long day) I guess i've been ok with leaving it open for someone to pick up because i don't believe anyone will. It feels like it's time to step down, but also i feel a little like we're abandoning it- and sad for the people who won't have a chance to have the celebration that we all had (just not guilty enough or sad enough to go past this year). So the option, makes me feel less guilty, without any real chance that we'll have to hand it over. I think if people were going to rotate in, they'd have started to do so by now. And to make a go of it they'd need to have done so by now.

and one other suggestion- I'd like to leave the video out until the very last time the announcement is posted and make it the last post of the thread.
(i suppose it would be too hokey to have a "goodbye" party and say stuff and all...)

I tend to be "logical" (Well, most of the time anyway). So....I have to say this, and I'll probably screw it up but here goes:

I understand AND AGREE with your feelings on closing down "our thing".

That said, logically, it doesn't matter. In other words, if someone out there likes the pre-vet concept, and wants to take it over and/or reinvent it...they can. Even though we close it down, some group of "New PVTers" could come along on Jan 1 and petition admin to start another group. And Admin could say..."Sure, we did it for those other people, why not this group?"

So it being "ours" or not is logically more of a date boundary than anything else. If Admin was sincere in the "Sure it can continue..just in the Lounge" thing, than it can continue if people want it.

The other aspect, being "embarrassed" about someone not taking up the challenge, is another emotional reaction that is an irrelevancy logically... the outcome will be....they have a new crew or they don't. Meh. We don't care either way since we bailed out.

All of that said, it is logical to consider a course of action where we just close it down and let someone else start something else if they choose. I just dropped the hint into the main message. It can be removed.

Ultimately, I'm ok with either leaving it in or taking it out, but leaning toward leaving it in at least for now. If we don't get any interest in the first couple of weeks in December, then we can always drop it.

If someone asks about a 2013 contest we can refer them to j0ker, correct?

well - if there's a continuation or not, the 2012 thread would be closed anyhow on 12-31 ............

and yes, j0ker is the one to decide on a 2013 contest if it happens. somehow, i don't think that's a go either. he seems to be much busier in the rw than ever before. the ecf store is still down from september, there have been no mini contests since then and i had to remind him to run the monthly drawing for october when he ran days late.

back to pvt - instead of offering to hand over our baby we can rephrase it along those lines - ''even though pvt is closing we'd be more than happy to provide start-up assistance to anybody who wants to keep the celebrations going''

Announcement!

The PVT crew would like to take this time to thank all our members, participants and vets for helping make the pre-veteran celebrations such a success. It's been so much fun doing these parties and welcome threads. We are, however, getting rather worn out.

Keeping up with this for the last two years, with parties happening at any time of day on any day is a bit challenging. So we have two options: 1) Adopt a new crew, or 2) close it down at the end of this year.

If you want PVT to continue, you may volunteer to "Be the new crew" by posting a message to this effect in the main PVT thread. You'll need to watch the thread daily, maintain lists of participants, participate in "turnings", and create welcome threads. Maybe you'd like to reinvent it? Come up with a completely new gig! Cool. You'll need to take over starting January 1, 2013. If nobody volunteers, we'll just close it down "when the ball drops".

Parties scheduled through December remain, however reservations for January are not being taken at this time. Check back here later in December to see if another crew has volunteered to continue it and is taking reservations.
