Can you elaborate on the studies to which you refer? I only ask because the most recent studies I've seen show a significant decrease in dependence for nicotine alone, when compared to tobacco smoke which contains MAOIs. Since most of the ANTZ have been screaming that nicotine is as addictive as the "H" drug, this would seem to counter their claims.
I've got some I can hook you up with...
Nicotine by itself maybe not so addictive after all?

It's a concept that is very new, and not a lot of studies have been done on nicotine alone.
But I'm glad to see more and more such work being done.

Yep. It's only in very recent years that nicotine alone is being studied, with the exception of the initial studies by the pharma companies for their NRT products. It often blows my mind that we're in the midst of an historical period that could be a real turning point in public health, if it's not destroyed by the ANTZ.

That's exactly right, caramel. I'm almost certain nicotine by itself is not addictive, and the weight of evidence seems to be in agreement. So, I believe you're correct, we don't know for sure what makes tobacco addictive, but I suspect tobacco companies might know the answer and are not going volunteer it.

I strongly suspect the MAOIs, or perhaps a synergistic reaction between the MAOIs and nicotine, particularly when the chemical blast is very fast and potent, as in smoking it. I find simply adding WTA to be all that I need to stay craving-free, but for some, not even WTA is sufficient, which tends to point to the speed of the uptake being a significant factor for many.
