My tobacco mixes have seemed very lackluster to me since I started DIY a few weeks ago. Ok, but...meh. Well I finally got some 10% ethyl malto (Loranne cotton candy) today & added 1 (ONE) drop per 5 ml to a steeped batch I had on hand & WOW!! This is what I was looking for! It really brought out the flavor & added a certain 'body' to the vapor that's hard to explain. I can hardly believe what an effect such a small amount of this stuff had on my juice (w/out adding any appreciable sweetness). If any other DIY noobs out there haven't tried this stuff yet do yourself a favor & get some! It's da BOMB!!

I agree completely about the EM in the tobacco flavors I mix. I'm also adding a similar amount of apple cider vinegar. The two enhancers combined add a certain depth that isn't there with just the flavoring. Also helps make the immediately capable without an extended steep time.

I've been using ACV for a while ratchet62, but for me the EM seems to have had a much more dramatic effect. Would you agree?

Sure, the EM seems to have more impact, especially to "mouth feel" when used in small amounts.

But, I notice an immediate effect on flavor upon adding ACV.

Yes EM is great stuff. I have been experimenting with it for a while now. Sometimes I use a little more depending on what I am looking for, with some tobacco mixes up to 4%. This is great with TFA RY4 double.

I'm using EM at 2% or so. Don't need much, since I'm not really trying to sweeten, just enhance. Kinda like salt when cooking. A little can a long way. A little more is to much.

So, you're good at 4%.

Have you tried Acetyl pyrazine (AP). I like that a lot with the RY4D, same amount at 1 drop per 5 ml.

I just ordered some of this to try.

How many drops does it take to make 1 ml, and what are you dispensing from? Makes a huge difference in measuring.

I've tested all my flavors using a 1ml syringe and 16 game needle. They vary from 60 to 88 drops/ml.

The pipette I use is 20 gtt/ml, though that was measured with water. I use the same one every time for my AP. This is actually the only ingredient that I measure this way, the others I could give you percentages. Since it is only 1 gtt/5 ml, I just don't feel that a drop here or there is going to make or break my recipe. Since I made the recipe up, I just adjusted until it was "right" and I usually mix a large amount. If it was a little sample, I think it would matter more. :)

Yes. You're mixing it up with the chemical that's typically in custardy flavors. I forget the exact name but it is similar. It's Di-something. Diacetyl maybe?
I didn't think that stuff was OK to vape? I must be confusing it with a different Acetyl something. Where do you get it at?

Hi Summer:)

Hi!

I got mine from Wizard Labs, most definitely for DIY. From what I gather, it is used for tobacco flavorings along with enhancing others like graham cracker. I consider it the "missing ingredient" which made one of my concoctions my ADV. So when I saw this thread, I was wondering what others were using as their "missing ingredient".
