My original intention was a non biased thread to help folks with any type of device and the building of their chosen atty's but since we also have a thread dedicated to the Reo it's fine to keep this one geared towards others. The reason it was originally changed is that some folks that didn't or don't want a Reo or didn't have the means to acquire one felt a bit offended when the Reo was being pushed on them which is completely understandable.

On another note towards your regulated/ unregulated question, You have the best of both worlds with your vv/vw devices and your R mini......

I think that pretty much summed it up right there.
Personally I never understood why there couldn't ( and indeed there is) be bleed over from one device to another...The Reo thread pretty much focuses on that, Reo issues...this thread is much more encompassing, yet includes the Reo.

Maybe it's time we all just let our devices get along...;)

John, when you rebuilt the OCC coils, what gauge Kanthal did you use? In the pictures you posted I saw 4 wraps and I'm guessing a 2 mm screwdriver. Please? And thank you!!

Don't remember which one I posted now but if it was a 1.0 ohm coil ( which is what I've been using in the iSticks) then at 4 wraps and 2mm it would of been a 30G 4/3 wrap as to where the same build using 28g would be a 7/6 wrap.

Thank you!! It's going to be a long week so I'm trying to get everything rebuilt so I can just pop and go. I spent last night rebuilding so I have 10 GS Air coils rebuilt plus 2 ST Mini .5 coils built to 1.2 and an RBA built. Finishing up today. Thanks again!! you!!

ETA: Rumor at work is 10-11 hour days all next week plus 8 on Saturday. Don't like all the hours but love the money!

I have 10 OCC's to rebuild.. all apart and cleaned, supplies at the ready.. 28g and 30g available, shooting for 1.2 ohms

tried last night- able to keep the coil in position, but couldn't get the leads in the right position to keep the coil centered once all put together, especially with those little grooves for the wire in the base of the head.

maybe my lighting was bad, maybe my hands are shaking too much.. any advice?

eta: lining them all up, those grooves are not consistent, all in different positions.. none of them line up with the wick holes, or anything really.. what the special h3ll is this?

eta: just like Ghostbusters.. don't cross the leads.. I'm giving myself a few :facepalm:s

eta: and sometimes.. you just have to ignore little grooves and put it where it wants to go.

Joss, sorry I missed this. What I do is to use a drill bit or a pair of dowels trimmed out of round toothpicks to the right size inserted into the juice ports in the coil cup to stabilize the coil once it is installed and then flip the entire unit over flat on its lid on the table to set the coil legs with the insulator and pin. As long as one of the legs is threaded through the center of the insulator and the other is on the outside, it should be good to go....;)

that is exactly what I did.. and as soon as it's all together, I take the pin out and the coil warps/turns to be off center. finally got one done, ignoring the lead grooves- a little out of place, but after wicking it was fine.

not too concerned about it at the moment- I wrapped a 1.2 coil and wicked up those RBAs like I had been doing it all my life! working great, but I do want to bring a ready OCC in case of emergencies.

I was talking with another member who said the OCCs have NR wire too? I didn't notice any when taking all those apart.

Hold the coil cup and gently give the pin and insulator a twist to line up the coil while looking down the barrel...;)

I've got a ST Mini RBA that will not register. I've built 3 coils for it, all different gauges of Kanthal, made sure that the posts were tight, everything...I can't figure it out unless the RBA was bad when I got it....:?:

Do I you have a multimeter or access to one that you can troubleshoot the topper?

All this sticky name changes are confusing me! Is this the old non REO stcky again?
YES!

Tricia, I think the other thread is for the new NT device that's going to be released so that leaves this one for everything else including Reos. That's just my 2 cents though.

Don't over think this Lynn. :) The other thread is the Official NT device thread (read that as a Reo). Sure the new device will fall into the 'official NT device' category and all that, but all that has happened here is a couple of name changes...

Mostly there are two different threads so that it is more efficient for folks to get their questions answered whether one uses a BF device or a regulated device...then add the associated toppers to that pile.

A while back someone started a third thread (that all of us welcomed) that then got rolled into this thread and renamed...this thread has just been renamed (again) pretty much back to it's original thread name...

It may sound and read confusing, but it's not. Reo and BF stuff goes over there. Non Reo and BF stuff goes in here...

Soignee, I appreciate all this explanation but in the grand scheme of things that is NT, does it really matter which thread you post in?
