The "smart charge" aspect is in the Opus/Darwin, not the chargers. I think both chargers will work at the same rate. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Darwin and DNA20 boards both regulate the charge current at the same level, so either charger should perform exactly the same (assuming I'm correct). Like neb, I just plug mine in overnight, so how fast it charges isn't something I ever gave much thought

When the Opus was initially designed and released we decided to include a slower charger with it to preserve the batteries. Now we use a higher quality battery that fast charging wont affect. The chargers are provided charge at .5 amps. if one wanted to use a higher amperage charger it wouldn't hurt.
Ironically I just found this out yesterday.
KJ is correct though.

On the topic of chargers. Will the chargers that were noticeably longer ever see a come back? Like the ones that used to come with the Opus E. These new ones I feel like I have to have my head right against the wall socket to be able to use it while it's charging. :D I know I can use an aftermarket USB wall adapter and a longer cord, but I'm just kinda paranoid and like to use the chargers you guys provide.

Hell maybe I'm the only one.

Thanks Killjoy...it's good to know it doesn't hurt to leave the Opus plugged in all night. :) This Opus has lasted a lot longer today than I thought it would. It's not even half discharged and I've been vaping it since 1pm (it's 11pm now).

I've never had trouble getting all day use out of the Opus-D, I think I've run it down to shutoff once or twice by the end of the day and only then because I was using low ohms at high wattage all day. I was initially concerned by the 1200mAh capacity (whereas the Darwin has 1800), but really it does last a lot longer than you would expect. Definitely credit is due to the efficiency of Evolv's products :)

nah, I always use the chargers that came with things. Force of habit, I guess, from back in the days when just about every electronic device had a proprietary charger. I could definitely stand to slim down my collection of wall warts with mini USB connectors

Oh yeah. I saw your previous post. I'm of the rare breed of people that read through an entire thread before posting. Most of the time anyway. All your post in this thread made my brain hurt. Too much information! :p But it was all great information. I've had my Opus for a few days now, and haven't let it die on me yet. I'm also the kind of guy that fills his gas tank when it gets to a quarter of a tank. :)

You should never top off the gasoline in your car. You should always let it run out of gas. It'll last longer. :2cool:

But then that fuel pump can sit in the tank not saturated with fuel. The fuel helps keep the motor/pump cool. If they aren't kept cool they burn out faster. If you've ever had to replace one you'd be paranoid too! :p

Oh yes, you do have a good point. Except for if you want to change the 'kind' of fuel you use. Then you don't want too much of the old to mingle in with the new.

Can anyone give not just guesswork but a definitive answer to the question of whether or not using the Opus as a passthrough in the car will shorten the overall battery life of the Opus? In other words, is using the Opus as a passthrough bad for its internal battery? I'd like to know about personal experiences with doing this but also need a 'professional' answer.

I'm talking about using it as a passthrough when the battery is run down, or just about run down, not just choosing to use the passthrough 'instead of' it's own internal battery.
