Received notification that my 50W Heatvape Defender II shipped from HG yesterday! Woohoo! Anyhoo...

Battery suggestions please? Flat Top? Or doesn't matter?
I know they need to be 18650 IMR High Drain, minimum 20amp.
Brand matter? e.g. EFest, LG, Sony, Samsung. (have read pros & cons on all)

I generally chain-toot single coil, around 1.2ohms, 10w - 10.5w range; Prefer higher mAh for longer time between needing charge.

This is my first replaceable battery mod. Researching with OCD tendencies turns into a brain about to explode situation even with something that should be damn SIMPLE . GAH! Therefore sincerely appreciate all you more advanced vapers' input & recommendations please and thanks!

AW, LG or Samsung are all excellent.
Sony I worry about fakes.
Mooch has posted excellent battery tests here, in case you missed them.

I am using LG HE2 button tops in a HG Defender as I type this. :smokie:

I would go with Flat Tops, as for the battery, I would suggest an LG HG2 20A 3000mAh or a Samsung INR18650-30Q 20A 3000mAh.

Woofers post about Mooch's testing is definitively something to read! :) List of Battery Tests | E-Cigarette Forum

LG 18650HG2 3000mAh 20a

Samsung INR18650-30Q 3000mAh

The Samsung 30Q is actually a 20A CDR battery by Mooch's testing, instead of Samsung's 15A rating. But at 10Ws you wont even be near 15-20A. :D

Get flat top because button top don't fit in a lot of mods.

Buy from Illumn, RTD Vapor, IMR Batteries or Orbtronics so you don't get fakes.

LG HE2 or HE4 or HG2
Samsung 25r
Sony VTC5

I do use Sony VTC4s but only if I'm going to exceed 55W single battery or 110W dual :)

I have a Bellus clone here I'm looking over for someone because it was leaking for her, and it has a difference from the authentic. I thought I should point this out in case anyone else has, or gets one like it. There is a flat bar up in the chimney bell that helps hold the single coil adaptor. So the deck will only snap into place if the single adaptor is lined up with that. If you put it in backwards, the deck won't go all the way in. So if you're having this problem with a Bellus clone, take a look at that.

Most of mine are the LG HG2s, but thinking about how I vape on my single-cell mods, it's usually under 5 amps. Next time I buy batteries, I'm also going look at the 10 amp, 3300 mah, Panasonic NCR18650GA. Here's a review:

Panasonic NCR18650GA 10A 3300mAh 18650 Bench Test Results...a great 10A battery

I use LGs and Sammy R25s. All my 18650s are flat-tops. There's a little adjustment screw inside the battery cover. I don't have it deployed, but I supposed one could if one needs it.

I have been noticing my resistance reads a little higher on the Defender II than it does on other mods. Not a biggie for me - right now I'm sporting a 1.5Ω VOCC (reading about 1.8Ω ??? ) and running about 13W

Not sure if this RTA has been mentioned in the thread, but Ive been using this the last several days and am very impressed. Im a MTL hitter with the emphasis on great flavor and throat hit. For the price this thing is one of the best vape buys Ive made. Sort of like a Kayfun, but better IMO.

$6.74 Unknown Rebuildalbe Atomizer (4.5ml) - stainless steel + PMMA at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

That looks awesome for anyone who likes the Prometey. Very similar airtube. And you can't beat the price!

You can't beat the name. "What's that RTA you're vaping?"
"It's Unknown."

The Unknown RTA from the Unknown China Factory.

But, the good news is, I know where to get it :)
I would reply with "It's for a very exclusive crowd, if you can find one, you can be apart of it"
I know people that would be driven crazy by that lol :)

All the manufacturers you mention are fine, but for one. I am not a fan of Efests batteries for vaping. They re-wrap other manufacturers' batteries. You can't trust their specs and don't know, from month to month, that you're getting the same battery. LG's HE2, HE4 or HG2 (the newest 3000mAh) would be great, as would Samsung's 25R or 30Q (the lastest 3000 mAh). Sonys are great but expensive. You should be able to find the LG or Samsung batts for $6-7 ea.

I have 5 ancient Efest "35A 2500mah" batts that are still quite awesome. I think they're LG HE4. Whatever they are, they're the best batteries I've bought  The same age VTC5s had to be recycled awhile ago. Some of my 25r that were half that age are dead.

I consider them 20A though, NOT 35A.

Yup, The older ones are LG HE2's/HE4's
I use LG HE4's a good bit and they perform well.

It was either Mooch or Baditude that identified those 35A Efests as HE4s, which are excellent batteries. I'm sure they've treated you very well. You're also a smart cookie. I don't like, on an ethical level, a company that over-specs its products like that. There are some vapers who will pick up that "35A" battery and push it to 38 or 40A. Mislabeling and outright lying are simply variables I'd like to see disappear from vaping. The process is already far to difficult for the average smoker. Just my :2c:.

I totally agree. I bought them as a newby before I knew any of that. I was having trouble finding legit Sonys, and bought those instead. But, I can't complain about the batteries themselves. They aren't even close to needing recycled. I can complain about Efest's deceitful labeling.
