Talking about mods... My used but in perfect condition Provari 2.5 GunMetal Zenkote (with "flat top" beauty ring and 18650 extension, plus a button top battery) arrived yesterday.... So have been vaping it for close to 24-hours now... And honestly, I'm not sure WHAT I think of it!

Maybe a tube mod just isn't my cup of tea? Or maybe needs more getting used to?
My current favorite mod is my black Ola X Hero 30w... So that's what I'm comparing Provari 2.5 to....

FUNCTION: Provari vapes just fine. As fine as the vape from my Ola X Hero 30. They both give a perfectly smooth & consistent vape.
LOOK & FEEL: I think in terms of design and "classy look", the Ola X actually wins out there. And in terms of "feel"? I'm not sure yet, split 50/50 on whether or not it's more comfortable, as comfortable, or less comfortable in my hand compared to my Ola X. Provari does however feel substantially lighter than the Ola X. And Provari's Button has a nice travel and feel to it.

The Provari DOES make a most excellent "stress ball" :D (my tendency to use mods as a stress ball being constantly squeezed all day long is why I'd gotten an Ola X instead of a similarly shaped Presa 75 with full-length actuator switch)

Basically, I think I'm kinda underwhelmed by the Provari :( overall, although here's certainly nothing wrong with it.
Any of you who've recently acquired your own first Provari feel similar about yours?

Oh yeah, and something totally crazy ? I'm still eyeing those 2 auctions on eBay for Provari TITANIUM P3s !!:?:
Provari P3 Titanium Ultralight Edition
Provari 3 P3 TITANIUM W/ 5 BATTERIES! SUPER LIGHT WEIGHT! FREE PRIORITY SHIP
...because they'd match my Titanium :wub:Prometeys ?
Or because my OCD has gotten so bad I need an intervention?
What are "the odds"
I'd love a P3 while I'm so "meh" about the 2.5 ? Anyone?
Is the P3 that much better than a 2.5, and if so,
then how or why so in your opinions?

:glug::pop:
I like mine allot. Took it too work with me today and made it thru on one 1000mah 18500. I always have multiple atty's built around 1.5ohm so it has a place in my rotation. For me it was a great 60 dollar purchase with flat cap and extension tube considering how long they last.

I really want a Radius and maybe even the new 50w tube mod they have, they will come soon I am sure.

I started replying a few times & kept deleting my post content. I need to think on this for a bit.

Ok...almost 24 hrs later.....

I don't think your situation is that uncommon. There are a lot of people who've said the 2.5 didn't cut it for them. I think in your case the P3 may have given you a little more umphhh that the 2.5 lacked so I can see how you liked the P3 over it.

One thing I can say tho, I enjoy the no fuss about the 2.5. Put an atty on it, set it & vape. The P3 is a temperamental b:censored:h! So far for me, each battery swap has come up with a reason I needed to look to the manual. :w00t:

My another 24 hours update is: I think I'm starting to like my P2.5 better now. o_O
In fact, now when I pick up my Ola X 30, it feels awfully heavy compared to Provari
Probably took some getting used to the tube vs box mod shapes. And feeling like I stepped back in time... e.g. No OLED screen, No USB port for on-the-fly charging

Oh dear! I never put up very long with a temperamental atty, and I sure wouldn't put up with a temperamental mod. Maybe your experience is part of why I've seen no lack of posts and reviews around the net from folks wishing they hadn't gotten rid of their 2.5 to "upgrade" to the P3

Must admit the battery life is impressive... yesterday the original AW 18650 2200mAh battery lasted me all day long. That's on a 1.3ohm build.
I'm happy I spent under $50 for mine, albeit used (in like new condition), included an 18650 button top battery, extension cap, and flat top beauty ring.

I think I'm going to order one of those Flat Top Battery Adapters to (hopefully) enable using my flat top batteries in the P2.5.

STOP STOP STOP!!!!

If you already ordered that adapter, cancel your order. You cannot use that in a ProVari!!!!!

2.5's ONLY use button top batteries.

But thank you :)
Nope, haven't ordered it yet, was just thinking about it. I know that using magnets (like some people do) is a definite no-no. But I'm curious why you say this Flat Top Adapter is also obviously not a good thing to use?

I like a tube mods, I vape low and tootle and rarely ever mess with my settings. Given those perimeters and the price I paid, the 2.5 fits my needs for a replaceable battery daily carry in the even of a vapeopolypse. And, i like that it is US made and serviceable. I knew what I was buying and I am happy with it

Buuuttt, its heavy for its size, the one button menu is a pain, firing when checking battery state/resistance is ridiculous, the center pin is not spring loaded so some of my attys will not rest flush to the mod, nipple tops, it is under powered for many and the price! My god the price. Simply ridiculous. And, you have to buy the little piece to make it work well ala carte. I always made fun of the provarinatzi and their incredible fanaticism. I will continue to do so.

O.C.D: In my opinion, the 2.5 shines in 18490 mode. It carries nicer and balances and feels much more comfortable to me. It shortens run time of course but worth it to me. I keep the one I carry (GMZ) in shorty mode and my white to black in 18650 mode on the coffee table. I really need a Tatro base for it as I constantly am knocking it over,. I run it with the little battery converter thingy and it works fine, buy a shorty battery when you pick up a converter, I think you'll like it.

The little plastic converter works just fine for me. They are a little piece of plastic with a conductive piece in the middle that allows for continuity. Buy two because they are almost invisible if you drop them and they are cheap. Fair warning though, DO NOT put your battery in the wrong way because I'm pretty sure there is no other reverse polarity protection on the Provi which is yet another reason provi are only OK.

Wow, talk about totally conflicting opposite views!!
This would be so much easier if I thought at least one of you was a ..... who didn't know what they're talking about!
But neither of you fall into that category imho :D

Appreciate you sharing your positive experience with those Flat Top Adapters in your Provari @Capt.shay.

And @ScandaLeX, have you experience with or knowledge of those adapters that turned out badly? Or are you erring on the side of caution with Provape's warning to use ONLY Button Top batteries in the 2.5?

Sigh. Ultimately I will rely on Buddha's advice to: "Believe nothing, no matter who said it, even if I said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense" (paraphrased since there are so many variations of that quote)

EDIT to ADD: Good Lawd, I can't believe the word that was censored in my 2nd sentence was censored! Seriously? M-o-r-o-n is what it was (which again I state that neither of you are)

ProVari/s have short circuit protection. installing one of these cuts that off so there's nothing to protect the mod in the case of a short.

Flat Top Batteries Will Not Work in the ProVari

I broke the unbreakable

The CORRECT way to use flat top batteries in a Provari

No personal experience I can speak of -- sorry. I let others do the experimenting with their mods buuut if I can help someone not make a costly mistake, I open my mouth. At the end of the day, it's your ProVari & you're going to do with it what you want to do with it.;)
Every 2.5 I have takes button tops so I have a bunch of 350's. 490 button top I needed to replace cause I gave all of mine to my g/f so I ordered 4 of them last night & 4 flat 490 for the P3.

I too was drawn to the Made in the USA and being Serviceable things (nothing against products from other countries, but it's sure novel to see or own anything made in the US anymore). And the great price I got it for, used, certainly helped. I'd been drooling over the Titanium Stealth Military Edition P3 -- but that's been waning since getting my P2.5.

Yah, the prices for the features they offer (Safety seeming to be the really big one Provari hangs their hat on), compared to everything else on the market -- is on the outrageous side. For the average tootie puffer. Unless they have money to burn and don't mind doing it.

As @ScandaLeX has pointed out via one of her provided links, reports of this Flat Top Adapter frying a Provari were due to human error (and drinking while changing batteries), because the Adapter does override Provari's 2.5 built-in Reverse Battery Protection. @Capt.shay issued that same warning as well. So ultimately it seems we can say these particular adapters work great UNLESS using one while mistakenly putting a battery in backwards.

I'll likely ending up buying one (or two) of those adapters to try in a pinch; But also an extra button-top 18650; And a button-top 18490/18500 because now I'm curious as to just how much difference the shorter battery makes regarding balance and weight

Thanks for both your inputs!!

Hmmm... Now that that's solved I can obsess on if I might find any P2.5 wraps in "Titanium Gray" for my 2.5 GMZ -- so maybe will look a bit better with my Ti Prometeys:wub:

It voids your warranty on the device. Provape does not like you to modify any battery to use in their device. This does not mean that they will not work but it could be a problem and ruin the device. I cannot say either way if it is a problem, but I have button tops and will use button tops it is the safe option.

edit: I mean the button tops are the safe option over using a adapter. Flat top battery advancement is miles ahead of button tops today. Flat tops should be the preferred cell when it CAN be used. LG, Samsung, Sony are my choices in that order.
