I don't think you can charge 2 batts at the same time unless the are parallel. I'm no electrical genius so maybe with a y adapter they would be parallel? But yes that box is sweet. I wonder if warp has seen your rca adapter with the button in it?

Edit. Does that recharge box also function as a 5V pass through with your handy rca with a button adapter?

No it will not work as a passthrough, just tested that, only putting out 51ma of power.

Dan - Can the connector with the switch also be made using a 510 battery connector? Would I use the same process?

Yes.

I don't see why it would be any different...

And correct, the only difference might be the distance between the center posts and how long the electrical board material needs to be, but that should be it.

Ok this is the fastest mod I have ever made :)

I bought 2 mini single cell AAA mag lights, I the removed the lens, reflector and light bulb holder. I then took a RCA jack (Female) and a pair of pliers and threaded the upper portion where the light bulb holder was. I removed it and did the second one with the same RCA jack, yes it scratched it up real good, but I am at work and not with my tools, so I sacrificed one RCA jack for this. I then took 2 good RCA jacks and screwed them in flush.
<image>

Then I put the top back on:
<image>

And when viewed from the side, you dont see the connector:
<image>

Final product, I can now use the switch connector from the last post with this baby battery mod that uses the 10440 battery. No soldering, just put the battery in and the RCA jack center post touches the battery. The shell acts as the ground. No soldering. These took me 10 minutes to make! But you must use the modified RCA connector with the micro tactile switch shown.
<image>

Well thats it.
Dan

ADDED:

Here is a picture showing the voltage after putting the "standard battery" back in 1.602vdc. No soldering, just screw the RCA jack into the top body of the mini mag.
<image>

TADA!

ADDED:

For the protected 10440 batteries you must cut the tip of the center post of the RCA connector:
<image>

So it looks like this:
<image>

Thats it!
Dan

Dan, do you have a source for the mini-mags? I really want to replicate this, and don't want to get something that is "almost" the same.

Thanks,

i agree, this is a brilliant mod. Q4mK, i found the mini-mag at Radio Shack, the model itself is called the Solitaire. and Dan, i have a question as to how you got the light bulb holder out? i've given it a few taps with a little screwdriver, but it hasn't budged yet and i don't want to whomp it without asking first.. i'd hate to knock something loose that i need. thanks for the guide, had a blast putting that switch together.. between this and Cisco's laser mod guide, i've at last gotten to dust off the soldering iron that's been stashed in my tool bag for the last decade. ;b all the best, sir.

Hi Dan, the only thing that I didn't understand was how did you put the copper wire in the PC board piece, the pictures are a little blurry and I can't see the details. Could you post another pic or maybe a diagram

Thank a lot man.

Here is a diagram of the switch and circuit board:
Insert.jpg

Start in the right front hole, over the top, through the back left hole back over the top back through the right back hole tie off and solder.

Hope this helps.

To get the light bulb holder out, place on a solid surface and use a very fine point jewelers flat tip screw driver and lightly tap with a hammer into the center of the light holder. The result is the bottom half will fall out and the top half will come out stuck on the screwdriver.
Then tap it with a 1/4in 28 or 32 thread tap. Of sacrifice one connector and force thread it.
Hope that helps

OMG!! Thanks Dan, I think I get it now, I'm going to try and make my own mag mod.
Just another question, do you just push the battery connector in to the rca barrel and it should fit tight, wouldn't this be the weak point of the whole mod? because the female rca connector is force-threaded in to the body so I guess it fits really tight but it seems that the battery connector could just fell apart??
Anyway I'll be buying all my pieces tomorrow and start working on it... thank you

LOL it is a very tight fit, I have been using mine now daily since I made it and the conector is still very tight. But it is quick disconnect so it goes into my pocket with out being very long so there is no stress point. Has not fallen off or loosened up.
Hope this helps

yes, i did.. thanks for the reminder though. and sure sure, i'm kinda waiting on the pics til i can get one of me actually using it to employ as my profile pic here ;D i'll post some of both though, made an 801 and 901 connector/switch. which, again: that's just a brilliant idea. you guys have done us all a huge favor by sharing that one.. rca jacks are much easier to get ahold of for future mods than having to keep on ordering more 801/901/etc connectors. i *love* that all i'll have to do in the future is screw my attys onto one of the switches i've made and plug it in.

Cool, Pics when you done?
Did you make sure to cut off 2mm off the RCA center post?

For those of you who do not trust 50ma tactile switches, here is picture of other switch that i used in RCA adaptor got it at RS , i had to come back RS many times to find only one of this switch again. This switch should be a reliable one but you have to file the RCA and the switch to make it fit and surfaced, also the switch is very light, easy to activate so you may need a safety on off power or have to take atts or adapter out when not in use.

Great Job, I found that the cartamizors work great with this mod as well, the hole for the switch allows enough air flow to vape perfectly. Of course I am using a 901 batt adapter so they work great!
As far as the 50ma tactle switches, mine has been used daily since I made it and has not failed yet!

I had problems with making this mod with a Blu atomizer to get the center pin to connect, bu I found a solution that works rather well. First widen the hole at the end of the RCA plug to fit the atomizer as the original instructions show.

Then snap a BIC mechanical pencil or open up an old click-style pen to get the small spring. The BIC pencil springs fit perfectly around the center pin of the plug and are just long enough to meet the atomizer. I soldered this in place to the plug, but just crimping it may be enough to make a good contact.

You need to insulate the spring from the outer shell so you don't get a short from the spring shifting or something, and the little piece of clear plastic tubing that comes with plug fits perfectly and holds the atomizer in place quite firmly.

I've been using this setup for about 2 weeks now to connect to a 3x AA nimh battery box and haven't had a single problem.
